i have a feeling that he wont although i think like lobo said it should be like a pet turtle in a tank or something

It should be a big Turtle. Not in a tank. And talking. :cmad:

Maybe he could just think that the turtle talks to him?........the toll of living on an island by yourself :P

we all know what it should be but i think it's very unlikely to have a big talking turtle in this movie. atleast if he had a pet turtle in a tank it would be some kind of a nod.

I can deal without the talking turtle. The thing that puzzles me still is the half assed Roshi we seem to be getting.

i think the reason he looks the way he does is because they want Chow Yun Fat to be recognizable. he's the biggest star in this film and they need the American audience to recognize Chow so some of them will think "well that one guy from Crouching Tiger is in it, so it must be a good movie!" Chow Yun Fat wouldn't be very recognizable if he were always wearing shades and half his face were covered in facial hair. if that's the reason why they made Roshi the way he looks, then it's more of a financial decision than an artistic one. they're more concerned with getting as much money as they can, rather than honoring the anime.

i have to admit dorky, you come up with some interesting points. i'm almost jealous

That sums up how I feel pretty much.

As long as Chow does a good job acting as Roshi then I wont mind how he looks

i'd hope he atleast gives you a feel of the character. i like chow and hope he nails the character

I just don't know if it'll be the same. There's something almost adorable about the senile, perverted, little geezer, who most of the time can barely walk upright, and gets hit by women all the time.

Seeing a middle aged guy hitting on young women, people would probably call the authorities for sexual harassment and seduction of minors.

Chow needs to try to grab Rossum ass at least once during the flick.

I dont think we will get a jacked up Roshi when he does the Kamehameha wave

Can someone explain to me all the hate toward Chow Yun Fat as Master Roshi? I mean they hired an awesome actor who has proven to be superb at handling comedy and action mixed and people are pissed? I'm not particularly bother by the fact they didn't hire someone who looks like he's belongs in a nursing home because it just would not play on the silver screen. Personally I need to see Chow Yun Fat's performance, as long as he still a perverted older dude with his Hawaiian shirts, I'll be happier. I'm more concerned with the performance than this superficiality outlook on his appearance.

I don't hate Chow Yun Fat as Roshi. Though personally I would've chose someone else. Anyway, I don't dislike him. I dislike the people who thought it wasn't necessary to make him look anything like the character he's playing.

If they don't bother to make him look anything like the manga character he's supposed to be portraying, why bother with the rest of the cast? Just get people that can act the part, regardless looks or nationality.

I am just fine with Yun-Fat. If the X-Men films taught me one thing it's that actors don't always have to look like there characters to play them convincingly.

And the fact it, Pirates of The Caribbean had to be heavily censored in China because of Chow Yun- Fats "negative and stereotypical portrayal of Chinese people." Someone also mentioned a scene in The One were James Wong was going to have Jet Li dress in a long beard and a bald cap but decided not to because he felt it would be stereotypical.

Over a month after acknowledging roshi won't be bald nor have a beard, and people are still in the " Was it sooo hard to make him bald and give him a beard *Wah*" Phase. It has nothing to do with difficulty, it was james wong's decision. Hopefully it turned out for the best.

Hopefully Roshi will sport some sun glasses in this film

Nice post. Agree with you.

Unfortunately thats not going to happen in this movie. :(

You know, parents wouldnt want their kids to see the master of the hero being a perverted sick old man. That would be a bad example for kids. Ridiculous but it will be this way unfortunately.
