Whilst i am skeptical about the new series, based around J Gordon, i hope it is a direct link to the shared movie verse - for obvious reasons it will introduce characters at an early stage and set up a universe for when Affleck has his own Movie.

I can't help but think they missed a trick by not having a Martian Manhunter series.

It could be a combination of the hit shows Luthor, X Files and heroes.

J'onn J'onzz a detective at first glance, presumably free lance or working for a secret organisation - each episode he tracks down a known DC character - or at least, a nod to that character.

He can travel the globe, investigate a tribe that is almost off the map - of ancient greece - an ancient city that still practises the ways of the amazon warriors - after reports of civil unrest between the two neighbouring tribes.

UFO phenomena - tracking 'the green lantern' sightings - connecting the dots to an ancient yet modern day legend

Virus's that lead to OMAC

Urban legends of an unknown soldier out in iraq

History related stories - of merlin and how it relates to the demon knights, egyptian stories of hawk men.

Genetic manipulations, cyborgs.

reports of a boy that could transform into a man.

Mythical mere men and under water worlds.

A force that can influence time as we know it.

He has his own agenda, obviously, coming from Mars - but this can either be explored as well, making it apparent he is an ET or not revealed till the movie.

I just feel he would be perfect, to tie the human world to a more 'sci fi' world.

I think J'onn could be a good fit for the small screen, though being on Superman level, power wise, it kinda means he'd have to be nerfed a bit considering the budget limitations.

I'd like to see something that would track J'onn through the various eras he's lived on Earth. How about making the part a showcase for actors? He has his base form, I'd go with the blue outfit with the pants and red trim but with a more classic beetle brow face/head design, but in disguise any actor can play him and that would be a great gimmick. Even minor disguises would be played by some known actor. Then there would be the more long term disguises like of course Detective John Jones. Show that persona as the one living in the Cold War 1950's as a cop turned P.I. and doing case of the week plots along with a overarching story about the infiltration of Earth by the White Martians. Go forward to the 60's and see J'onn's reaction to the changes in society, he could undertake a new identity, maybe even a female one. The part lends itself to such story paths. He is a shape shifter. He does not have to be tied to one ID.

I think you could mine such a concept for many seasons. Show J'onn as a sort of stoic yet amused watcher of the human condition. Not an overly judgmental, "I'm a superior alien" take. Play up J'onn as a philosophic sort. And of course.... OREOS!!

J'onn can be introduced on Gotham. J'onn worked as Detective John Jones for the Gotham City PD for a while

I agree with just about everything here. While I love the character of James Gordon and do believe it could be a great show without Batman, I'd rather see a regular Batman series as well as not as well known by the general audience characters like Martian Manhunter or Cyborg getting the same type of development and newer found popularity that Arrow has been getting.

whilst i enjoy Arrow for what it is, it just doesn't compare to shows like Breaking bad, Lost, 24, luthor, walking dead etc in terms of acting and quality - it just feels too... cheap?

I would love them to have J'onn J'onzz as a private eye, firstly to find out more about the new planet he is on, but also as a way to get back to Mars - his technology is broken, he needs earth to advance, what better way than to divulge on black ops, conspiracies etc - track down what is really going on at cadmus, star labs etc the secret world of urban legends, ufo and alien tech

I hope for the Gotham show it is set right when batman 'starts' after all, he started out as an urban legend - it will be great to see them tracking him amongst other crimes, how he effects the process, taking key items for evidence etc.

He could appear as a fleeting shadow, an anonymous letter to gordon.

Criminals could recount what they saw, each description being different, stealth a large aspect of the character, lurking in shadows, a beast.

How Gordon feels he is almost in a race against time to solve a crime before batman does and the culprit hung out to dry, literally, outside the GCPD.

I would love Cranston to be Gordon, and this lead perfectly to the movie. A greatw ay to setup 2-3 years worth of source material before they actually meet, face to face, gaining trust - with many near misses.
Cameo from Lois, perhaps lexcorp trucks - even Alfred standing alongside a limo - if this is done properly it can be epic

Thank you. Here's hoping WB gets into the serious planning stages of exploiting it's DC stable.

But it makes perfect sense to introduce a character, their story or at least the myth around them.

A couple of episodes of him tracking down this secret greek island, which is listed as black ops, a new twist is that the government are producing humanoids, clones - to be perfect humans, so far the female gene is strongest and they are observing this new human species evolve and learn and it could be code named amazon and he learns what the government are doing.. this then sets up for a WW film where she decides to break free, confront the government doing this.. just an idea or it is literally an area where the outisde world has forgotten and the amazons have been left to evolve - but you get the picture

All these UFO sightings could be linked to a galactic federation, a police state in space where abductees speak of what they witnessed as the green lantern corp saved them etc.

It could be the new X files.

I hear what you're saying about the tone of Arrow. Whenever I think about how true that is, I remind myself what network it's on and take it as it is. lol

Once again, I love the ideas about a MM series, especially if he isn't going to be in the JLA movie. This could be a great opportunity to build his popularity and development so that he could work into a sequel. Same goes for Cyborg.

The problem with a MM series would be the budget for special effects, he has too many powers, it would be too expensive for television. I think is better to use him in a JL movie, anyway, most people don't care about the character, just the way it is.
