Martin Campbell is Directing Green Lantern

Thor is out of 2010! Green Lantern and Iron Man are the only two supers for the year!

Yep, Marvel was the first to budge rather than WB. Particularly moving it to a prime summer 2012 spot rather than opposite Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II was the smartest move they've done. Thor and Captain America too.

It seems like 2011 will be the year of Marvel comic-book movies -- Spidey 4, Captain America and Thor in a short period of time. I'm excited. :word:

Marvel really dropped the ball with this one. There is no excuses not having that second film lined up for 2010.

Well good news now WB can push GL for a July 4th weekend to rake in the dough.:up:

I think Marvel believes that the world will end in 2012 because there's no Marvel movies being planned for that year.

I don't think they'd let us all die before seeing the Avengers movie.

my mistake. they moved Avengers to 2012.

Good move on their part.

Didn't you know that Kevin Feige plans their movie releases using the Incan/Mayan calandar and it runs runs out in December of 2012? :oldrazz:

^ Yup. GL and Thor boards are finally here :)

Holy crap, a Green Lantern board! Finally.

ah finally a GL board! :gl: thanks Mods!

i've been out of the loop for a while, anything yet on Campbell's confirmation?

The producer confirmed Campbell as director

Yes, one of the producers confirmed him.

Campbell, Berlanti, De Line etc. have much more flexibility with the Dec. 17th release. If they start filming this spring/summer, they can build up the hype for a while, which a GL film would need. That's most likely a huge reason Marvel pushed back their release dates. They don't want Thor to under-perform at the box-office like The Incredible Hulk did last year with not much marketing time. WB is more careful about this.

Yea and to any one thinking dec 2010 isnt enough time it is plently of time. As long as filming happening by june/july run to about nov and then nov 09-dec 10 for post work and marketing is plently of time.

My only concern at this point is the CGI. Honestly, if this film is to feature fighting in space, Oa, and all of these fantasy-like environments, aside from earth, then it better be done well and right; because in my head right now, aside from the plot, this is what will and should sell the movie.
