Martin Campbell is Directing Green Lantern

And let's face it...

The Power Ring might very well be the coolest "item" since Aladdin's Lamp.

I know we were talking about this a week/few days ago i do think Gl's mask could be done very well. Look at all the characters in watchmen that had eye masks they all looked great and and looked realistic and worked well. So i dont see why with right material and look it couldnt be pulled off.

Sydney: Interestingly in light of that last remark, Screen Hub is also reporting that the next superhero comic adaptation, The Green Lantern, will be made at Fox Studios in Sydney.

As yet, this news doesn’t seem to be widely reported; nothing confirming this yet on the unofficial site Green Lantern Movie Chronicles, nothing at the NSW Film and Television Office, nothing at Fox Studios site, nothing at comingsoon.net despite an interview earlier in the week with producer Donald De Line, nothing at Variety or Hollywood Reporter. If the report is correct (and the producers were certainly in Australia in December scouting locations), this will be a huge boost for NSW filmmakers and service providers. Sadly for Melbourne and Victorian filmmakers, the reason Screen Hub gives for the producers’ decision to choose Sydney is that “Central City Studios just ain’t big enough”.

sounds neat they will be shooting in sydney. And what else would the film be called. He is the green lantern.

The movie should be called Green Lantern, not The Green Lantern.

The part he is wondering about is "The." I'm not sure I would take too much from that. I heard a lot of people refer to "Watchmen" as "The Watchmen" before it came out.

I started typing what I typed above and walked away from the computer for a minute. By the time I finished, you had already responded.

Well the film is still a yr and a half away so who knows what the final title will end up being or if they would even add a subtitle to it. For all we know it could end up just be Green lantern.

Latauro of AICN had the following to say...

DeadlyPorpoise has written in to tell us that Ngila Dikson will be providing costumes for the new GREEN LANTERN movie. Best know for her incomparable work on LORD OF THE RINGS, Dikson is a good choice for the film, should this rumour pan out. And even if it shouldn't pan out, she'd still be a good choice. GL begins pre-production in Sydney next month.

Cool....IF true.

Of course, her name has a "c" before the "k", but the site's silly filters required me to edit it.

Those mask were black weren't they? Except the Comedian 1940s. I know they usually end up putting black make-up around the eyes so it might look weird with green make-up. I've never seen a domino mask without it. I still remember the scene in Batman Returns where they took the stuff off just before he unveils his face.

Ngila's done some great work, in mainly Oz/NZ-shot productions like Fool's Gold, The Lord of the Rings, The Last Samurai and Without a Paddle. I suppose she's cheaper than flying in Campbell's preferred costume designer too (Bryan Singer and Louise Mingenbach, I'm looking at you).

In the script, the eye holes are actually white in the comics. So if they go ahead with that, then it'll be like the comics.

And the IMDB has finally unveiled the Green Lantern page for non-subscribers. Interestingly, Legendary Pictures is listed a production company alongside DC and WB.

If that turns out to be true when GL starts filming, does that mean Legendary will become synominous with further Warner/DC films? It certainly looks it to me.

its very likely looks like wb wants to offshot budget between wb and another company most likely. Doesnt really matter. As for the costume person sounds like a good pick i hope she does well and she makes some good outfits for everyone and if she is working on gl's suit also i hope she knows what the fans want to see and all that. I dont want to see another SR disaster happen with costume.

Just keep them in a similar vein to the Fantastic Four's movie costumes and they'll look fine.

Filming on "Green Lantern" is going to start mid-September in Australia.

where u hear that DD i figure it would be filming no later then july so it could run to sept/nov range for first unit filming. Then go in to post production/reshoots from dec-may. Then during this period marketing/promotions start up and then the film is finished and completed in time for dec 2010 release.

It seems a bit late to start filming in September. I thought they were going to start on July/August at the latest.

But a September start date seems very doable for a December 2010 date, as long as there's enough time for post-production and get the CGI done properly.

Great!
I'm taking it as a good sign that shooting starts September as opposed to June or something... It means that they understand this film is an undertaking and something that shouldnt be rushed... I also think that this is gonna be one of those movies that sends it's primary cast off to bootcamp for a couple of months to get in shape...
