Marvel Anime: Coming to G4

Okay where does it say the design will be more like the comics? Where is is this info's source?

Descriptions are out:

Los Angeles, CA, July 26, 2010 - G4 will be the exclusive U.S. television home of four brand-new anime series featuring some of the most successful and iconic brands from the Marvel Universe. Produced by Madhouse for Marvel Entertainment and Sony Pictures Entertainment Japan (SPEJ), these four original series - "Iron Man," "X-MEN," "Wolverine" and "Blade" - will premiere on the network in 2011 and will air as standalone series made up of twelve 30-minute episodes under the guidance of Warren Ellis.
"Iron Man" In an effort to make amends for his weapons manufacturing past, Tony Stark has dedicated himself to building the world up rather than tearing it down. Traveling to Japan to build a new arc reactor that will deliver unlimited free energy to the Japanese people, Stark is challenged by the Japanese government and the media when he attempts to import the necessary nuclear priming device. And when the reactor-in-construction is repeatedly attacked by the mysterious Zodiac consortium, Stark must gather his allies to take on Zodiac and its mastermind.
"X-MEN" The X-MEN are reunited following the death of a teammate, and are summoned by Charles Xavier to Japan following the abduction of Hisako Ichiki (Armor). There, they confront the U-MEN, a lunatic cult that steals and transplants mutant organs to further strengthen their own army, and the battle for justice is on.
"Wolverine" Based on the popular graphic novel by Frank Miller, the series begins in Japan, where Logan is challenged by Shingen Yashida, the notorious leader of a powerful mafia clan. When Shingen's employee Yukio, a female assassin, falls out of Shingen's favor, she must kill him or be killed. Teaming up with Logan, the pair seek out the villain to exact their revenge.
"Blade" Eric Brooks -- known as Blade -- seeks revenge on Deacon Frost, the vampire lord who killed his mother while she was still pregnant with Eric. With all the powers of a vampire and none of their weaknesses, Blade's quest leads him throughout Southeast Asia in search of Frost, and, in Viet Nam, he discovers a vampire plot that threatens to take down the whole world.

So 12 episodes per show makes 48 episodes total! Outrageous! :)

I'm the source Technowraith. I was AT the panel and I saw all the designs.

I remember all the Japanese opening and endings for the 1990's show. The designs don't look quite like that. I think they look just as cool though. Wolverine has a very modern Madhouse look and feel. He looks similar to the design style of the Iron Man anime characters.

Basically if you look at Madhouse shows the character designs tend to have a similar look or design style much in the same way that Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli animations have a very similar look and feel in the designs.

I love both anime and Marvel, and this seems like a amazing partnership between the two. Marvel nowadays are more interested in the kiddie animation on TV (Tony Stark: Iron Man Adventures and Super Hero Squad), but this looks like a very adult approach on the Marvel Comics, and I'll definitely tune in to see how great it's gonna be.

Well I think you can argue that maybe the Iron Man show is. Nothing in the first episode actually contradicts the movies. Next episodes could be different though.

It will be interesting to see what Marvel and G4 do about reversions of the anime. Rieber made it a point that G4 shows Japanese shows with English subtitles. Though I doubt Marvel will give the show a SUB ONLY release. However if they do that would be a very bold move. I mean just for example, the Afro Samurai series got A-list talent behind it. If something similar was done for these anime, no way they would do it without an English dub.

I wasn´t in comic con because i´m from europe, is there any place where i can watch it?

Not yet unfortunately.

The series will be on G4 here. I imagine though it will be broadcast online as well and there will be a place Europeans can watch it.

I hope it comes here in animax but i´ll try to catch it on internet when it airs in the USA.

i'd much rather see the avengers and x-men. wolverine getting his own show and probably in the x-men one too is kinda overkill. iron man and blade are getting made only because iron man movie did well and vampires are "in" now. i just wish marvel would take a risk and do something new. the anime style is new but the shows they picked arent.

You're forgetting that Wolverine became popular when Claremont and Miller did their Wolverine in Japan arc, so making a 12-episode show about that is a good decision if you ask me. Blade has always been popular outside of comics, yet amazingly the last time he was cool in comics, happened to be in Captain Britain & the M13.

Tho yeah, now i wish we'd have Daredevil anime.. Theres alot of potential with DD & the Hand, but that seemed to have gone for Wolverine. :p

Just keep in mind these are just the first 4 shows. If they are successful we could see more shows.

I hope so. I think Daredevil can also get the anime treatment, as do the Avengers and Thunderbolts.

YES!! Daredevil deserves his time in the spotlight again!

I was really thinking that Moon Knight was going to be the 4th show. Especiallly since his recent rise in the Marvel status.

I'm digging on the the descriptions so far. It sounds like for all the "Cops" episodes they run, we'll get some good anime inbetween.

Iron Fist + Anime = Gold, Jerry. Gold!

Iron Fist would be perfect for this style. And finally convince Marvel to get off their butts and do something animated with Iron Fist. It was cool seeing the Fist in SHS, but I need more!

A Madhouse animated Iron Fist show would be perfect.

So, I have to wonder, if these are successful, could that mean not only more of Marvel's characters introduced to the anime, but second seasons for the ones that have? Like, if Wolverine is successful, could there be an additional 12 episodes for Wolverine in store?

Nothing has been said. The implication seems to be that there could be more anime titles. I imagine if the demand is there and they do really well in Japan, Sony/Madhouse could order or commission more.

But audiences have to respond and be interested in the ones that are being released. I think Iron Man will have appeal in Japan because of the tech and mecha influence of the character.

Yeah, I can definitely see Iron Man being successful in Japan. Japanese love anime based on mechas & robots (as do I), and IM has two successful movies already under his belt. It's a perfect fit.

I was hoping the last one they'd announce would be Deadpool. I could see that working well as an anime, with Nolan North voicing him. Iron Fist anime would be amazing as well. :D Maybe if these do well, they'll think about doing some minor characters.

But I'm excited for these :D

I'm going to say this ONE LAST TIME:

WOLVERINE DOES NOT LOOK LIKE THIS IN THE SERIES!

:awesome:

I have but one question: why are all these shows going to be taking place in either Japan or somewhere in Asia. I know they're all anime but this is taking the genre a little to seriously. The only one that fits is the Wolverine one, which is going to be based off the famed min-series about his exploits in Japan against the Yakuza.
