Marvel Comics Solicitations for October 2011

-Damn you Marvel and all your price gouging silliness. I guess I'll end up hating myself for paying $4.99 for Casanova issues now :( At least I know they'll probably be good.

-Yay, more Deadpool MAX!

-Interesting that FF will, in theory, be up to issue 12 by November as long as scheduling keeps on track. Does that mean we'll see that inevitable 600 by the end of this year then?

Wow Marvel 4.99 for Wolverine and the X-men #1?Sorry I'll pass.I guess I'll go ahead with my plan of trade waiting for X-men now.

It's only for the first issue, #2 should drop by a buck. It's still pricey for another Wolverine book.

So, what, are they going to start charging an extra dollar for every ongoing that starts regardless of it being a $3.99 steady priced title?

I doubt it. After ending Incredible Hulks, Thor, Captain America, Daredevil, and Uncanny X-Men, I would be very surprised to see Fantastic Four relaunched with a 600 issue. If anything, I'm expecting Marvel to relaunch Amazing Spider-Man and Invincible Iron Man more than I'm expecting them to renumber Fantastic Four.

Yea it is.I'm not going to be adding another 3.99 book to my pull list.I already have X-force, Secret Avengers, and Wolverine.Marvel has shown at this point with Amazon's reduced prices it's better to wait for tpb.

Yeah, but they still relaunched all of those with their big triple digit numbers at one point. It'd be too perfect an opportunity for them to get a quick sales bump that Marvel has yet to pass up with pretty much any other title. I'll be very surprised if we don't see a Fantastic Four 600.

F*** yeah, Thunderstrike might actually still be around! I hope that team from Fear Itself: The Home Front gets a mini-series, at least. That would be awesome.

I have a feeling that, given his presence on the aforementioned team, Speedball's probably gonna be the teacher who quits in Avengers Academy. Not sure about the student.

lulz, they misspelled "complement" on the Youth in Revolt solicitation. I wonder why Tarene is fighting Ultra Girl...

Jesus, does Iron Man ever get tired of attempting to copy the Destroyer armor? :o

Journey into Mystery has a cool cover. Looks like a stained glass window.

Wow, they're actually trying an Avengers Spotlight-style anthology book again? What's more, The Fearless has quite an impressive team behind it. Definitely gotta check that out.

Hey, look, a roster change in Avengers. Thor is mysteriously absent from the cover. Wonder if that means he's off the team. It seems unlikely given that he's a major character in the movie, but who knows what's going on in Bendis' crazy head?

Whoa, what looks like another anthology series for the Avengers. Avengers: Solo had me at "Hawkeye" and "Jim McCann." The Pym/Academy story will be a nice bonus.

Good lord, HAMMER's back and being led by Osborn again?

I would so love to see a Captain America solicitation that doesn't mention WWII just for novelty's sake at this point. It'd be such a wonderful little oddity.

Wow, Rulk/Machine Man team-up? I almost want to start reading Hulk again for that...

Haha, the Punisher taking a bat to some thugs armed with guns. That looks awesome.

"The Galaxy's Most Magnificent"? Sorry, not quite up there with "Earth's Mightiest Heroes." But Earthfall still looks fun. The cover is awful, though. This John Tyler Christopher dude is not very good...

I wish the Inhumans/Kree invasion were the basis for Earthfall instead of FF. I'm way more interested in that than another fight with Annihilus.

Hahaha, "Zeus has decided to move in with his wayward son after an angry Hera de-powers him." Now this sounds more like Incredible Herc territory. I hope this is the shot in the arm Herc needs to get back to the previous series' awesomeness.

Ugh, Loki shows up in Vengeance? I was not too encouraged by its first issue, but I guess I'll stick with it after all.

Oooh, Baron Zemo back in Thunderbolts? I hope Jeff Parker writes him better than Brubaker has so far.

Whoa, lynchings in X-Factor. That's kind of crazy.

The rest of this pic is neat, but MJ's got some googly eyes going on.

Looks like Alpha Flight has gone from a limited to an ongoing too!

I like that cover to Black Panther #524. I wonder how much longer T'Challa is going to be in Hell's Kitchen now that Daredevil's back. Am I the only one reading Black Panther? I never see anyone discussing it here.

I hope HAMMER isn't back in full. Maybe just as an underground organization with no real authority.

My thoughts on Oct:

Mighty Thor #7 is a story we should have had 7 months ago.:o

My guess Avengers Academy is losing Speedball as a teacher and Veil as a student. Reptil was also missing from the preview released last week in the AA thread. I doubt we'll lose him though, he's the most noble of the bunch. He's almost like their Cap in that regard.

So I guess Betty dumps Flash prior to Venom #8?

Spider Island:H4H is replacing the regular Heroes for Hire title this month. After this mini ends, so does H4H.:csad: We knew it was coming.

I hope the Avengers 1959 mini tanks so Marvel realizes how stupid the idea was.

Avengers Solo is more of a continuation of the Hawkeye comics as opposed to a relaunched Avengers Spotlight. McCann is taking 2nd billing on this, which puts me automatically on the fence because his last mini was terrible and Bendis already crapped all over his great work with Mockingbird.

I think I'm going to drop Secret Avengers before Ellis comes aboard. I'm not excited at what I see. Now that it seems AA will live on past Fear Itself, I'll get my Avengers fill there.

I'm excited for the conclusion of Children's Crusade. The book did a sweet 180 last month, I hope it continues and finishes strong. I think the death will be one of the Lang's, probably Scott but Cassie wouldn't shock me. If I had it my way, kill Vision Jr so the one, true Vision can come back and be with Wanda again.

The solicit for Cap gives me the same feeling when I read the Secret Avengers one.....

Zemo's return to the T-Bolts is interesting because if Parker keeps running with what Bru and McCann were doing maybe folks will get over it. Or will he go with what Nicieza did before all of them.

The solicit for DeadpoolMAX is spot on - it's return is something I demanded. Thanks for listening for once Marvel.:yay:

And last but never least - PunisherMAX gives us ElektraMAX? Bring that f***ing s**t on!:awesome:

Avengers 1959 was the one good part of that storyline that Bendis did. I'm happy to see it continuing.

They should've just retconned the What If that portrayed the Agents of Atlas as the Avengers of the '50s into 616 continuity. Now that would've been worth reading. :o

The concept was ok, the cast was the problem. There's a ton of other 50's era heroes they could have used.

The concept is the thing I have a problem with, personally. The Avengers do not need to be a government initiative just because that's what they are in the f***ing movie. :o

I think Phaed's alone on this.... the 1959 Avengers was just bad all the way around, and I'm one to typically defend Bendis's Avengers.

And man, I just figured out my buy list for all of October and once again I'm $20 over budget. I got it below a hundred (with hopes of finding a way to drop it below that even) and a month and a half later I'm back to over budget... I freakin' swear.

With Uncanny relaunching and Wolverine & the X-Men starting soon I feel that those two in addition to Legacy, X-Men, and Astonishing is just overboard... all but one at $4 an issue. I think I might drop X-Men and Astonishing X-Men completely (save an issue here, and arc there as I feel the need to read a character or plot. I'll probably drop X-Factor as well since it's the comic I look forward to the least. I was kinda hoping to see this Strong Guy resurection plot played out but we'll see. I've been considering dropping Daken anyhow so that'll be an easy drop. I'm thinking Moon Knight could maybe get the axe before I get too invested. I was also planning on buying Batman starting at the relaunch but I may rethink that. I'm already getting Batman & Robin and Batman Inc. come January so I don't need another Batman comic and I can always buy it in back issues if I feel like I'm missing out.

So that'd be $21 cut per month. I'll have to consider these but this looks like the route I may be taking.

You mean this cover doesn't make you want to just run out and buy that issue of Astonishing, Jewhob?
