Well..

ive been pondering for a while now... why we have no modern luke cage, and why there's 3 insanely popular x-men with only 1 figure each (not counting ultimate)

Storm, Nightcrawler, and Magneto.

why those 3 don't have multiple figures... i'll never understand.

That's the best ML Wolverine IMHO. You can get the unmasked variant fairly cheap if you take the time to find the right deal. I paid $25.00 MOC. I'm only saying this cuz I think that Wolverine is a must have, and you get the BAF piece too. Win Win.

Yeah, but thanks to Bendis, Luke was the leader of the Avengers for a good while. I think he needs a new, modern look instead of his 70s porno look.

I'd be happy with an up-scaled version of the Marvel Universe Luke Cage. He looks pretty sick. The gold chain/medallion accessory won't be necessary though... But with some better paint app's, this would be pretty sweet:

Seems like Hasbro has been doing this lately (see Iron Monger BAF), so hey, why not? I would love for them to make a modern Green Iron Fist to go with him. Not a huge fan of the white costume. Loved the way he looked during Matt Fraction/David Aja's run. Even a remake of the Toy Biz version with no collar/no bared chest and some shoes would work. I never understood why they decided to go so retro 70's with those two characters while everyone else got modern looks.

If I just saw that without knowing the context, I'd think it was a WWF Wrestler figure. I'd never guess it was Cage. Even if it said "Cage" I'd still not guess, as that could easily sound like a wrestler sort of name.

I mean, how long did Bendis write Avenger/NA? 8years? And Luke Cage was front and center the entire time with his wife and child. He wore a black wife beater and brown khaki's. Its not a difficult figure to make. And they already have a smaller version of it. Is Hasbro gonna wait until 2014 or 15 when he's COMPLETELY irrelevent? Wtf? Let's get this done already. Hasbro has gotta be Racist, right? Bastards!

Just take the Universe figure, give him black pants and a yellow tshirt, not a beater, and keep everthing else the same. Give the variant the black beater, and brown khaki's and call it done. He'll sell. Believe me. Who DOESN'T love Luke Cage?

I don't care what outfit they give him as long as it isn't 70's style look Cage. The MU one is based off the Cage mini-series by Brian Azzarello, as evidenced by the gold chain and beanie accesories, but they continued with similar clothes throughout the first New Avengers series. A few issues into the second New Avengers series they started doing the yellow t-shirt.. However, I think a lot of current readers got their real introduction to Luke Cage through Bendis's New Avengers vol. 1, and for those readers the Black tank is going to be more familiar. That's what I think of when I think of Luke Cage.

Black tank makes him look wayyyy generic. And thus a mistake for a figure imo. He'd be hard to sell to anyone but huge fans

I'd say he is definitely a fan favorite thanks to Bendis and New Avengers. It sucks that he isn't going to be in an Avengers book anymore, but i'm looking forward to the new Heroes for Hire. They need to do a new Powerman and Iron Fist book. I can't believe that hasn't happened yet (with Luke Cage as Powerman)

I just want to complete the look of the New Avengers in my display. And 1970's porno Luke Cage doesn't cut it.
