Hopefully they don't get some hack/yes man

Well I don't think all are. But I really haven't seen any of there works. But god I do hope we get official news any day or next week or two. If el post is true and nothing to july. We likely be well past thread 100 lol.

Jonathan Levine seems like a good choice and the best from the short list imo

Is he the one from the new vacation film. Or am I mixing directors up.

If Butterfingers is the new Spidey, then his webbing is going to keep slipping through his hands. :o

Wow! Part 51! I can't keep up!

Anyway, earlier, Dark Raven commented how spot on Punisher's casting was and that he didn't want to have to squint to see an actor as Peter Parker. I am in full agreement! That's how I feel with these final actors (with maybe the exception of Rowe). I kind of look at them like Tom and say, yeah he could or even Asa. But I'm not getting that vibe that says, "Wow! Of course!"

I'm just puzzled by this casting process. I thought for sure, based on how Marvel usually cast, that they would find some young up and coming actor known for comedic roles, whether movie or TV. The whole Michael J. Fox thing with Back to the Future thing came up, and it seems that would be the route Marvel would take.

That's why when Dylan O'Brien was brought up, it made perfect sense. An up and coming actor on a TV show, where he's the comic relief and is known as the bright spot on the show. He even has the look of Peter Parker. Add to that his love of the character. In addition, I heard he was hired for The Internship because of his wit and getting along with Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson. You could see him hanging with the likes of Robert Downey Jr and Chris Evans.

That's why he's still in my signature. He has that "Of course!" vibe that I have not gotten from any other actor.

let's say Asa is cast and he starts shooting his scenes end of July.

given his current filming schedule and his exams, would he even have enough time to train and get into acceptable shape for the role?

if he's still pencil thin as he normally is, he'd have to start changing his diet and start training right now to meet the end of July shooting schedule.

I didn't know that about Dylan.

but yeah, I agree, you would think they'd want an actor like that.

and out of the final 6, the only one who immediately Wowed me was Rowe.

Of course, that was based on looks alone, but he's the only one on the list that immediately jumped out and grabbed me.

indeed, it was because of him that I even starting to get excited for this whole thing. because up until a few weeks ago, I hadn't really been following the casting process.

But Rowe is the one that get me interested. based purely on looks alone, he's the one that grabbed my attention.

Exactly, I don't understand why they wouldn't get him, he could still give them 2 full HS movies.

I want an actor for whom we can immediately say "he's going to kill it as Spidey/ Peter", just like we did with Vincent D'Onofrio as Kingpin, or people are saying about Bernthal as Punisher.

The only way some of the shortlist seem like they're going to kill it is kill off the franchise. :o

This exactly.

I was not impressed with The Maze Runner, but back in March I was under the impression that Dylan had the role so I was dedicated to watching his work. I became a fan the more episodes of Teen Wolf I watched.

Watching The Internship was what sealed the deal for me, though. And when I found out that a lot of his lines were ones he improvised during his audition I was sold. I really don't even care if he looks too old to be a high school student (I don't, though.) I think he's perfect for the role and I will continue to support him until someone else is official.

to be fair, sometimes it takes awhile to warm up to an actor/actress.

like, Melissa Benoist didn't immediately strike me as Supergirl when she was 1st cast. and I was actually rooting for Elizabeth Lail and was disappointed when Melissa got the part.

however, after seeing the teaser trailer and the leaked pilot, I like her now!

so, she's definitely won me over.

however, with Melissa, there was nothing about her that I felt was "wrong" for the role of Supergirl. I just preferred a different actress.

Well she didn't strike me as Supergirl either when I first saw her photo, because it was a rather bad photo of her that the Hype posted and not even really representative of how she actually looks. It gave her a completely different vibe.

I haven't seen the leaked pilot and don't plan to, but what won me over was one of her interviews where she seemed really adorable and warm. She still even had brown hair then.

But even watching interviews or clips of Asa, I still have not warmed up to him, and even though Tom is better, he still isn't quite perfect but more "he might be okay, we'll see."

Rowe has a better look, but even his personality isn't quite there either, and I won't even bother with the other three minors.

But none of the actors seem as funny even as some of the existing MCU actors like RDJ, Evans, Hiddleston, Pratt, Cumberbatch, Mackie. They all seem more jocular than all of the Spidey shortlist.
