There are black hispanics and latinos you know...

I know that. I just haven't seen anything to say she is Black and Latino, if she's not then it would be kind of wierd if she did play a Latino character that's all I'm saying.

People comparing the Marvel and DC casting news today... :whatever:

Nah. It wouldn't be any more weird than Al Pacino playing a Cuban.

I hope the character is from the comics, even if modified a bit. I prefer that to a character specifically created for this movie.

well we dont know how things will ultimately turn out. Will we see many mythos guys changed maybe maybe not. Like i was saying earlier there is already plently of ethnic characters we got in the books we can use to fill roles to bring up diverse and wide cast. I just dont want to see things changed just to have change or make change that doesnt make sense and is just to be a PC deal.

I dont want this to be like the mess that was with johnny storm casting and changing things and not even making a good change. If its a organic change like how TSSM changed some roles fine. But if they only want to fill one thing like to turn a totally white character black when they could have used a black character that is the wrong way to fill any diversity change they want.

ya wouldnt be a first time a actor of one race is playing a race differently for tv or film. Look back in the day alot of italian actors played native american roles. Or that one show i think was in the 70s or 80s where a white guy was playing a asia based character and they had make up to make his face look more asian.

Now that I'm home and no longer on my tablet, the idea that Mary Jane Watson could be of a different ethnicity is really cool to me. As others have pointed out over time, there's nothing about the character that makes her predominantly Caucasian in any way, as same can be said for pretty much any character within the Spider-Man world so I'd have no issues at all with it. If an actor/actress is good for the role, they should be given the role.

So if Zendaya does turn out to be MJ and this whole 'Michelle' thing turns out to be a smokescreen, I'm fine with it. It's not like that erases any past version of MJ (be it films, comics, cartoons, etc. as they all still exist and can be and will be enjoyed again and again), so I don't get why many are upset over this possibility.

Yes, comics and such are a visual-medium and naturally some want to see characters brought to life the way they were written and drawn from decades ago and that's completely cool, but I just wish some would be a bit more open-minded is all. :oldrazz:

There, said my piece. Carry on, folks!

My sentiments exactly.

I think we'll be hearing about more casting very soon. It's starting, guys.

It's hard not to tbh. MCU gets Zendaya while the DCCU is getting a an other oswar winner actor :oldrazz:

It's not like whoever was gonna end up as "Michelle" was gonna be some oscar winning actress.

Pfft, I mean lets be honest: talent-wise? Zendaya > J.K. Simmons, all day everyday.

I'm joking please be gentle

Obviously J.K. Simmons is the much bigger casting news, but why does that make DC better than Marvel? :whatever: I like both DC and Marvel, but why bother comparing?

That casting is frowned upon these days though for good reason. It's an odd way to get diversity points to take a minority role and fill it with a different minority...

Fanboys will be fanboys I guess. It ain't gonna stop, so there ya go.

The more I see of Zendaya, the more I'm cool with her. She seems very likeable. As I said, just don't be too "hip hop" and it could be great.

I just hope this doesn't turn into a whole "All aboard the making everyone non-white wagon!" again.
