Born Again Marvel Studios’ Daredevil: Born Again General Discussion Thread

Look. I am all for burying the Punisher for as long as trademark law allows.

But, clearly, Marvel doesn't, as they brought Bernthal back over 2/3 of the main cast.

Dolph Lundgren"s Punisher, who never wore the skull and everyone complained about, is probably the most politically correct now and the one Marvel probably wants to promote. :o

OK but we don't know the context or how they plan to utilize the character. Look at how they used Evan Peters in WandaVision.

If this book only focus on movies and disney shows, so its useless. Timeline isnt complicated

We just want an official confirmation about shows like netflix', AgentsOfShield, inhumans, ABC... (shows not made in Feige/disney)

Ignored or other timeline as Spiderman Freshman years
I agree to a point but this isn't gonna be the book to do it. And the book isn't useless, it will at least clear up a lot of the timeline confusion from Phase 4.

He's a fictional character. Also, how would he take it back from them anyway? When did he lose it or it got stolen?

Also, The Punisher is a murderous vigilante. Just because he's not a corrupt police officer doesn't give him any legal right to do what he does.

What would make more sense is if they did something like in Magnum Force where a group of corrupt police officers were acting as "The Punisher" and using his symbol and calling card and also targeting innocent civilians in impoverished communities, and Punisher is doing it to clear his name and stop the corrupt either militant Americans or cops who are posing as him.

You can have the characters acting as those ultra right wing vigilantes from the Garth Ennis run who wanted to ally with Punisher, and instead Punisher just killed them.

Well yeah, that's exactly what I meant
It's not like he's going to sue for trademark violation and give a speech on responsible policing
I'm saying use the storyline to troll these people

Who is that supposed to be? The daughter of Ben Urich?

I’ve been rereading the Miller stuff and it’s making me appreciate the show a lot more. They did a great job but I still feel like the adaptations could be better. I don’t like Cox’s suit and the lack of emblem

I don't like so many segments and so much padding. I want it simpler and more classic looking and more red with the DD logo.

They also cast Arty Froushan as Buck Cashman AKA Bullet, who'll probably be a hitman working for Fisk.

Also Michael Gandolfini was listed as "Daniel Blade" in a copyright filing, though that may be a placeholder name.

The original tweet that's this guy is citing says she's his neice.
Then there is a chance she becomes involved with goblin stuff later on (she probably won't though).

On the Netflix series his widow said they didn't have children while Karen Page mourned with her. This won't be the point where they break Netflix canon.

Vincent D'Onofrio is on the latest Inside Of You podcast where we have arguably the best Lex Luthor interviewing the best Kingpin. Where he said only he can't talk about the new DareDevil series. But it is different was about all Michael Rosenbaum could get out of him..

I mean, with the Netflix show, Matt wasn't in his proper Daredevil costume until the first season finale! Sure, he had the black suit to compensate, but I think fans were fine with waiting.

Yeah I don't mind him not being in the suit if they focused more on the legal drama side of things but I highly doubt they were capable of writing great dialogue and great court room scenes like in the Netflix show to carry it. And I'm sure the Marvel/Disney suits were mad that it's not flashy enough.

Honestly it's for the best. I'm not as down on the TV shows like others, but overall their forumla just wasn't working. Barring a few, most of the TV shows are not shows. Hawkeye and Falcon & Winter Soldier could have just been movies. And other shows like Ms. Marvel could have benifted from a longer season, with a more a episodic style (day in the life of a teenager who happens to be a superhero). She-Hulk did this well, but even then I think it could have been better. Obviously episodic doesn't work for every character out there but for She-Hulk & Ms. Marvel it would play to their strengths IMO.

When Born Again was first announced with an 18 episode season, I thought Marvel was starting to steer it in a better direction. But given the news in the article, it still seems like they were holding on to some of their issues. And one of those issues is a lack of show runners. But given some of the stuff in the article, it seems like maybe they are finally really learning their lesson.

"As it moves forward, Marvel is making concrete changes in how it makes TV. It now has plans to hire showrunners. Gao’s postproduction work on She-Hulk helped Marvel see that it would be helpful for its shows to have a creative throughline from start to finish."

As a side note, shame to hear Kyle Bradstreet got fired from Secret Invasion on working on it for a year. The show was a mess and hearing everything behind the scenes, just explains how it got to that point.
