Ironheart Marvel Studios' Ironheart

So they're dropping 3 episodes this week and the last 3 episodes next week? Welp.

It's coming out this week?? Oh.

Reactions are quite mix, which I am afraid may translate to a brutal tomato score. TBH I don’t feel the buzz at all and doesn’t seem Marvel bothers too much to market it either.

They wrapped filming in late 2022 (2.5 years ago) and are dumping the entire season in two installments. Been expecting a trainwreck.

Apparently only worth watching for the ending of the bery last episode.

Which I guess I’ll catch on YouTube lol

I said the same thing about Agatha All Along, which is actually surprisingly good.

Just finished all 3 for the week, and is it the best D+ show? No, but it's far from the worst by that same token. I think Riri showcases more personality here than she did in WF, and the show is entertaining.

72% RT. This is not good for TV shows in general.

I'm currently binge watching another series and I dislike my completist self, have to make time for this and watch this right away.

98% Ms. Marvel
92% WandaVision
92% Hawkeye
87% Loki (92% | 82%)
87% Daredevil: Born Again
86% Moon Knight
84% The Falcon and the Winter Soldier
84% Agatha All Along
79% She-Hulk: Attorney at Law
70% Echo
69% Ironheart (49 reviews)
53% Secret Invasion

Saw the first episode and the one thing I have to say is

we finally have a name to Jim Rash's character, instead of "unnamed professor." I remember in Falcon and the Winter Soldier we had "Government Official" for like 2 or 3 episodes without a name, it was stupid. It would have been stupid if Rash went by "MIT Professor" for his future appearances

I've watched the first three episodes now. Dominique Thorne is really good here as the heroine (even though I constantly have to remind myself that the character is supposed to be like 15yo (if understood correctly) and the actress is closing to 30). I also liked her family and friends characters.

I've no idea how close this might be to the comics, but The Hood gang characters when presented IMHO mostly sadly felt like a bunch of unlikable and cliché characters and even with some questionable acting. Her AI/ghost friend feels mostly annying this far, hopefully that will get better.

But I like the premise, and maybe because I didn't know anything about this character I was assuming (and hoping) she would be a solo heroine character, without the usual backround team (like the CW characters; Flash, Arrow, Supergirl etc. Or even modern Eqalizer). Which might be the case further on?

Anyhows, I'll keep watching since the show is well done and somehow entertaining. Hoping for an interesting personal development of the main character. And yes, I get that this is mostly directed to teens and of course I would've had less nitpicks in my age back then. Even though Riri would've felt way older than us lol.

Riri is in her 20s. She graduated at 15, and she was at MIT in Wakanda Forever. And I get the impression that she was close to graduating for years at the beginning of the series.

It would have been so easy to write her as a grad student working on a PhD. Doctor Williams to go with Banner and Pym, people would watch Dogie Howser after all

It rose to 86% since then. Its now 4th, tied with Moon Knight.

Wasn't all that bad. I appreciated the suit feeling more mechanical like the early IM films. Also the style felt more cinematic than TV, and the music/soundtrack had a bunch of good tracks. Curious ending.

I didn't like this. I thought the villain with the red cape was a not good antagonist. Then the character introduced in the finale was a choice, simply because I don't think Marvel Studios would do anything with that character anytime soon, that it seemed pointless. I also don't look forward to a season 2 of this and I don't think there would be a season 2, so how are they supposed to continue that story arc?

The whole project also feels like a throwaway with the 2 week release strategy. After years of waiting, they released all episodes in a span of 10 days, at the same time as Squid Game 3.
