Marvel Studios to Adapt Runaways

Considering this project isn't might not come until after 2010 at least(not summer blockbuster material), I wouldn't be casting just yet.

It's never too early to cast...

Yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ahem, given the casual references to Marvel Universe superheroes and supervillains in this one, they may well need to pull a Wanted on it unless it procedes with more haste and less speed (in building the sets, lining up the effects houses) at least until Cap is found frozen and/or X-Men is rebooted.

If making the Wilders Crips would shatter the Official Gang Truce, Vaugn will have to make them members of a made up gang.

I think they should just use the first volume for the movie. Leave volume two with Xavin, Victor and stuff for the sequel if there is one.

well... the problem is i dont think victor and Xavin fit in the same storyline... Xavin is also difficult because he's a skrull... itd be wierd introducing him before skrulls are...

Victor on the other hand is a new storyline... Xavin didnt really have a plot to his arch other then randomly popping in and taking Karolina away

You don't follow an Avengers movie with something like this. Unless Marvel shifts to producing more then two movies a year, Runaways will never see the light of day. File this with Ant-Man as commissioned scripts that will sit on the shelf forever. I can see Marvel shifting this in to a TV series that would rival Heroes, however.

I think this would make a better tv series. I just don't Marvel should make a movie out of all their characters. Dominate the small screen to. And with the serious drama Runaways can have...............I don't know about this as a movie.

TV is a whole nother ball game though... it's very hard to get a show on tv and stick these days.

best bet is to make a movie first, then have it turn into a tv series. Runaways isn't even close to a house hold name, and it may be hard to get picked up or even stay afloat if it became a TV series first.

as for people saying they can't follow up Avengers with this... i say.. why the hell not? sure avengers will be a great movie, but were still going to be getting single hero movies, as well as lesser knowns (cloak and dagger, antman, deadpool, black panther, powerpack, namor, doctor strange) you can't expect every movie to be more epic or out do the next. Now i strongly feel that every movie does not have to be a summer action packed block buster though....

on a side note.. how cool will it be to see chase, molly or alex wear a shirt with ironman, thor, or captain america on it when they really exist in that universe? :D...

This can make a great show. Heroes is kind of similiar and I think this can be the Marvel series that can do it. Let's be real: if this movie makes over $100M it will get a sequel, not a tv series.

That's blatant self-promotion. Not good. Implicit, seamless integration is better so people are focused on the Runaways story itself without having nagging thoughts on the Marvel Universe.

You know guys, I'm still not sold on the Runaways. Yeah, they might tell a very good Heroes-like story with the author himself writing the script but by placing itself in the lineup it will break the schedule for the other high profiled character projects like Daredevil 2, Dr. Strange, Namor, Cage, Iron Fist or Black Panther. In Economics 101 it's called opportunity cost.

The very first Runaways book introduced them when they were playing a MMORPG based on Marvel superheroes. Having them wear superhero shirts wouldn't be out of line at all.

^ But that's in comics. But this is about a movie watched by those who just need good storyline and might get ticked off by obvious self promotions.

I've never read The Runaways. What can you guys tell me about it? And is it a good movie material?

actually its not.... marvel does this in there own books... its nothing but a nod... and a very cool one if that.

you worry and think WAY too much :o, it's a marvel movie... there not promoting there other movies by that... and if they were.. so what? its the same level that WB did with putting billboards for Batman vs Superman and Teen Titans movies in I Am Legend. Its just fun nods

and as for this comment.. its kinda ignorant. you mean well... but you do realise if marvel wants to surive as a growing studio, they have to do different types of movies that appeal to different audiences, while still maintaining there fan base. The more money there movies make, the more movies they can produce a year. Just because were getting a power pack, cloak and dagger, and runaways movies, doesn't mean theres going to be less focus on others, or these movies will be taking "other characters" spots

I really hope this project gets off the ground, the comic is great and I think could really work well as a movie. I'd focus solely on the first volume, just the kids finding out about their parents, running away, finding out their powers/origin of the Pride, then taking on their parents. Keep Victor and Xavin completely out of it, keep Karolina's sexualtiy ambigous, at most a hint or two, skip the vampire story, if anything a passing reference to other heroes, but keep the Runaways mainly in their own universe, that's what makes them unique, they don't want to be part of a bigger world.

OMG! I LOVE Runaways...:woot:

Buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut...

I feel that they're going to find some way of screwing this up royally. Either it will be too kiddy or they'll pull a "Wanted" on us and instead of super villains we'll get the kids fighting Terrorist parents or something...:cmad:

that posibility occured to me this moring as well

I want him to get a little more acting under his belt, but Corbin Bleu for Alex. But only if he's had some more indie flicks under his belt.
