Marvel vs. Capcom 3

I'm mostly a close range fighter so I main Wesker even though I still haven't discovered his full potential. Plus his level 1 hyper is pretty epic.

I hate that any random ass projectile ****s it all up.:cmad:

If I'm all the way on the other side of the stage when I start it than I'm pretty much screwed most of the time. I Would have been better off activating an X-Factor.

Yep and that's why Deadpool is Wesker Kryptonite :cwink:

I can't friggin stand Sentinel spammers. Who's bright idea was it to make his beam a one button press? That's a gift to spammers everyone.

And they really should have given us the ablity to knock him out of Hyper S.Force. I hate how they still come out you even after you hit him.

Yeah, Sentinel seems really unbalanced. I always liked the Smash Bros balancing of characters, where the characters that are really powerful have more of a learning curve, so if you can kick arse with them you've earned the right.

Yeah. One would expect them to fix such problems if those actually already exist.

Anyway...I'm starting to like Spidey more now than before. At first I thought he was pretty useless. But his Webzip (S+LA) and his "bigger" web swing (RT/R2) has proven to be pretty useful. And his webthrow is kinda fun to use when the opponent won't expect it.

However, I still can't use Web Ball properly. I never get to attack them in time when they're webbed up before they are back to normal, so I'm always either too far away, too slow, or both. Anyone who has any advice on how to use it effectively?

Also, am I the only one who NEVER nails the Super Web Throw attack? I don't know the real name for it, but it's the super attack in which he webs up the opponent in the air and smash him/her to the ground.

That's even more annoying.

Yeah man, why don't they change how do to hadokens too!

It's not like it's hard to counter Sentinel spammers, either - it's just like I said a few pages back - you simply aren't skilled enough.

I'm pretty sure, like 90% sure, that they have to be in the air too for it to work. Spiderman in general is very lacking in this game :(

Oh yeah I'm aware of that. But whenever I input half-circle-backward + 2 attack buttons Spidey simply just webswings away (the RT/R2 move).

Yeah, he's definitely not one of the worst and he's really good at moving around quickly and get up close fast but he could definitely have been alot better.

Well there is a tradeoff for Ultimate Web Throw only working on airborne opponents. They can't block it.

I dont think anyone who knew how to use Spidey very well would say he sucks in this game, its probably the opposite, i'd say hes one of the better characters.

im very stoked to play as Jill and Shumah in a week!!

He's weak, has low HP, his combos are incredibly close range only, his assist animations are abysmally slow, he doesn't really have a gap closer that's safe.

It's got nothing to do with not knowing how to use him, but everything to do with how he's designed in the game statistically.

I'm just disappointed how he seems to have so little moves compared to other characters. And I find it also weird that his web-swing is more difficult to pull off than Taskmaster's. I mean, I have no problem doing it, but still, with Taskmaster all you have to do is press forward + heavy attack.

And while I'm already posting, little question, because I can't figure it out myself. How do you do that spinning sword move with Dante?

hes got a lot of unique moves that really help if someone really knew him inside and out, thats what im saying, like using his web swing to continue a combo etc

The mid air one? F-D-DF medium I believe.

Hmmm and I vaguely remember immediately disproving you by outlining exactly what my strategy was against it. Ahhh memories. Still, I can recognise it as unbalanced and cheap by the little amount of skill needed to do well with it. I prefer characters like Tasky who have more of a tactical learning curve, but hey, thats cool, if you want to get cheap wins more power to you.

Alright, found a youtube video. That thing was making me crazy because I couldn't figure it out. It's tapping H for him to shoot, and while shooting tapping S for the sword spin.

I agree with both these posts.

While Spidey is one of Marvel's most agile and quick heroes, you really don't feel that way in this game. Sure, he's pretty quick but doesn't feel agile at all. Especially, as Nathan pointed out, when Taskmaster can Web Swing as well but ALOT easier. At least with the Charging Star attack (which Taskmaster does easier than Cap as well), Taskmaster's version is shorter and not as powerful. But his webswing is as fast as Spidey's AND easier to pull off.

The developers should have given Spidey some new moves more than the Web Zip. And his basic grapples should visually be more than just "grab and throw". Same goes for his Web Throw, it could look more neat than. Overall, there's just alot missing for him, even though I must admit that he's grown a bit on me.

What are you talking about? Disproving what? That you're not skilled enough to deal wiht them?

Clearly if they annoy you in any way, it's cause you're getting beat by them. It might not be 100% of the time you get beat, but you come off all frustrated about it like it's some big deal and not one of the easiest things in the game to counter.

That being said, anyone who's halfway decent with sentinel will either spam his heavy to get you to come in close then completely obliterate you with his basic ground to air to ground to OTG to double super combo that isn't really hard to pull off, or won't even bother and will just completely obliterate you wiht his .......

It's not "unbalanced" or cheap in any way, especially given how many other cheap or broken things actually are in the game. Like using Hisenko's gold super, switching her out and then constantly assisting her in where shes unpunishable. Or saving your 5 supers and xfactor and your shoto character and burning through 2 full HP characters cause xf+5 hadokens = ******ed damage even if youre blocking. Etc etc. All the characters in the game have their own cheap little **** they can pull off, so don't act like Sentinel is the only one that's a ******** character (Im looking at you, Wesker)

I don't know why people complain about that beam....block then super jumo forward (hold forward to advance more horizontally or hold back to reduce forward movement)

I absolutely massacre anyone who doesn't know how to properly use sentinel. Its not hard, you just have to be cautious and be smart about approaching him (kinda like Zangief/T.Hawk in SF4. Gief/Hawk werent broken). If you let a Sentinel setup fullscreen away and beam you to death, you have to take it right back to training mode my friend.

The opponent has to be airborne, and spidey has some nasty unblockable setups for guaranteed damage. Try this....

In the corner....L-M-H chain xx Spider Sting (+Heavy followup) Standing H xx M Web Swing air M-M-H (land) S.Medium-S chain (launch) Air L-M-M-H. Let them go...spidey lands, almost inescapable Ultimate Web Throw Super (if they forward tech, i believe you have to switch the super motion to the opposite side)

of course you could skip straight to the launch part and do that

Thanks for the tips dodgers2213! That looks damn hard to pull off though lol, especially for someone as low skilled as me (trust me, play me online and you'll be like "WTF just happened? I beat him already!?") :P But after alot of training, I'll definitely try that out! Thanks! :)
