That's okay,... greatness is rarely understood by the mundane,......even moderating mundanes.

I've seen the truth,.. and it's a secret hidden in plain sight.

Well,....................................

I've grown.

Really.

Breaking fingers and busting kneecaps over someone trying to tarnish ol' bush tail -

Well,.....................................

Words like plausable deniability(sp), Perfect Alibi, Contracted wetworks, and Unfortunate accidents involving blunt trauma, are more my speed,... I don't waste time foaming at the mouth anymore.

I'm late coming to this debate and I'm certain that someone like Iron Maiden has already pointed this out:

Despite Doom's penchant for utilizing old Nazis (Hauptman brothers) as lackeys, he detests such racist fools. His formative years were spent as a minority so maligned that they couldn't even have a town to reside in without being driven out. Such categorizations which are delineated by lesser men (than himself...as ALL men are...) are meaningless to him. I've an old Marvel Spotlight (or something similar) in which Doom acknowledges that he has much more in common with T'challa than most men. There are several instances of mutual respect between the two. T'challa would never respect the rascist that Hudlin has created and I don't (could never) consider T'challa as gullible.

The sad fact here is that racism is not solely the domain of white folks, nor are authors immune to it.

Please PM me iof you remember what issue of Spotlight (or whatever) that's in. I thought I remembered something like that, too.

Somebody needs to let McDuffie know he needs to "pull a Byrne" and use the pages of Fantastic Four to reveal that the racist Dr. Doom of Black Panther #19 was a defective Doombot.

Defective, like Hudlin's writing.

I still say Doom was just trying to get under T'challa and Storm's skin, the guy is a jerk and will press peoples buttons when he gets the chance.

The point is that Doom would've never went for that specific "button" if it weren't for Hudlin being out of his f****n mind.

Come on, I'm no Doom fanboy, but good ol' Vic can do better than the lowest denominator. :whatever:

As has already been said he goes out of his way to degrade and demoralize Ben at times.....It was just a jerk being a jerk......I'm sure there's tons of panels with Doom saying sexist things too.....IMO nothing about that one scene in the book Makes Doom a Racist, it's not a word I like the throw around, sometimes people just like being jerks and try to hit a nerve, Doom has a LONG history of doing that.

Brilliant post....and I wholeheartedly agree with your sentiments.

How do you come to that conclusion? I personally know black people who are just as bigoted as Klansmen in the South. :o

When in America, I actually found the vast majority of racism pointed from minorities toward the caucasian types. Of course, that could have just been where I was.

sigh.

here we go,...

"Exit - Stage left"

Do not blame ye.

My point exactly. I see it being aimed from both sides, not just from some white people. There's all kinds of anti's out there.

Everybodies racist, just some more so than others.

Agreed. But it was slightly odd, because when I was in America, I saw minorities that flat out hated white people just because they were white, where white people didn't really seem to hate anybody, they just kind of more or less stuck to their own. Most likely because they didn't want to be yelled at only because they're white. Kind of a vicious cycle.

Everybodies racist, just some more so than others.

Yeah, I DO hate French Canadians. But that's for a whole different reason.

True, its "Okay" to make some white jokes, but yet white people can't make black jokes. An entire generation of afro-americans are carrying a huge chip on their shoulder, even though they never lived through the 50s and 60s. Hell lets not even go into interacial realtionships, which Imo have been played out to much in modern comics.

I always did find that funny that if a white man made a black joke, there would be some form of outrage to it.

I guess I'm glad I live in France, and have to deal with Muslim jokes. O.o

As long as the dreaded N word[which is used by black people all the time] is not used in that joke, most black people seem to only get mildly upset. Though most black jokes have a huge amount of truth to them, wheter we like to admit it or not.
