Marvel's Flagship Female

Good points. I guess I still just do not feel that the Marvel girls can do better than the DC girls. I see the DC girls having more confidence, power, respect, intelligence etc....that I overlook the marvel girls.

Anyway, while Sue and Storm are cool, I don't see how pieces of a team can be considered for flagship female status. I mean, sure one could say The Fantastic Four or the X-Men, but two individuals from these teams? I think a solo character would be better suited. Elektra is the only one to get he own movie, so that must mean she appeals to a wider audience than just comic book readers. Other than that, I'm not sure what warrents this seemingly legendary status.

Since Marvel females aren't promoted individually aside from Elektra, I think it's fair to include females who are on teams. Afterall, Storm and Invisible Woman are the most recognizable females because of the publicity their teams get. It makes them very visible females.

A still think Storm is the most popular, btw. It goes beyond just because she's my favorite.

She has her own ride at Orlando, has been connected with Wonder Woman twice, has a strong warrior-like personality (unlike Sue), has the distinct appearance and powers necessary (unlike Sue who looks like her other team members), is the female that has appeared the most in video games, had the chance to have her own movie (but Halle turned it down), has appeared in TV commercials like for Universal Studios and Visa, etc.

All she needs is her own ongoing comic book series and that'll seal the deal.

I'd have to say Ms. Marvel for the time being. I think hers may be the only Marvel female solo book out now, she's on this quest to prove herself the best out of all heroes, either male or female (whether or not she achieves that level has yet to be seen...) and she co-leads the Mighty Avengers, which is a pretty major role for anyone in the Marvel U. So for now, it seems that she's the lady that Marvel is betting on at the moment.

Although my favorite is Jean Grey...who really is out of the game currently. (Although I doubt it'll last...)

I like Ms. Marvel. But she went through so much hardship. I think she's doing a better at leading that Black Canary. She has the discipline and the heart but she lacks the experience. And everybody thinks she's Tony Stark's lackey. Also she obviously doesn't know how to deal with the public as well as previous leaders. This character has to climb over a lot.

i do, ya know i find all characters that are spinoffs of established male heroes bland as hell. because to me i only see them as a female version of said chracter and nothing else.

I don't buy the comic. I used to buy New Avengers and Mighty Avengers, though, and it was kind of annoying to see her give speeches and lead the Avengers when, in my opinion, she's crappy. But I dropped those series, too, so it doesn't matter.

Ms. Marvel wasnt really on anyone's radar and them bam! she's all over the place and now leader of the Avengers. I like her but she doesnt feel as iconic as she should only bc they are only now getting around to pushing her as teh flagship female when she's been around for over 30 years and spent most of that time in limbo. Non readers have no clue who she is and that doesnt bode well for someone who's supposed to be the company's leading female like they want her to be. They need to do a new cartoon and give her some exposure
