‘Marvel’s M.O.D.O.K.’: New Guest Stars Announced for Hulu Series | Marvel

Who’s ready to take over the world? M.O.D.O.K. sure is...even though he’s going to hit a roadblock every step of the way, whether it be A.I.M. headquarters or back at home with his wife and two kids. How can a megalomaniacal super villain have it all? Well, we’ll find out in Marvel’s M.O.D.O.K., premiering May 21 on Hulu!

The cast and crew of M.O.D.O.K. hosted a WonderCon@Home Panel (which you can watch above!), featuring stars Patton Oswalt (M.O.D.O.K.), Melissa Fumero (Melissa), Aimee Garcia (Jodie), Ben Schwartz (Lou), Jon Daly (Super-Adaptoid) and were joined by creator, writer, and executive producer Jordan Blum for a fan Q&A covering all aspects of M.O.D.O.K.’s work and home life.

“He is this character that aspires to be like Doctor Doom, this kind of like menacing villain, but he always falls short of it,” Blum explained during the panel. “The fact that he's conscious that he's not an A-Lister drives him insane. What’s his home life like, while also running an evil organization?”

Back at home, his wife, Jody is just about at wit’s end with her husband’s evildoings. Meanwhile his two kids, Melissa and Lou, don’t fall far from the tree...and also fall very far from the tree. It’s hard not to notice that Melissa bears a striking resemblance to her father (and is also a very good figure skater). As for Lou, he could care less about world domination since his thoughts lie with picking the best bar mitzvah theme. (“I think we're the only Marvel show to have our big finale take place at a bar mitzvah,” Schwartz quips during the panel.)

Along with the core cast, the WonderCon@Home Panel also revealed a handful of guest stars, including: Jon Hamm as Iron Man, Whoopi Goldberg as Poundcakes, Nathan Fillion as Wonder Man, and Bill Hader as Angar the Screamer and The Leader.

Unlike Helstrom, this is a Marvel Hulu show that I'm looking forward to. It looks like Robot Chicken when it was in its prime back in the mid-late '00s plus the added bonus of that voice cast. I'll always give Patton Oswalt a chance.

Watched the first episode on Disney+, it's rated 16+ here. Pretty good.

I didn't know what to expect from this going in, but I had quite a bit of fun with it. I really enjoyed The Robot Chicken esque animation and it has such a great voice cast. Loved the yellow hazmat suit guys, especially Gary and John Hamm as Iron Man was hilarious IMO.

Haven't seen it yet (looks good) but I doubt it'll get another season just by the factor that it was one of the last Loeb era shows greenlit to get far enough into production. 2 out of 4 of these Hulu Marvel cartoons got shelved and I was really looking forward to the Howard the Duck one. I mean, this is pretty much more of what I've been looking for out of Marvel animation, something more experimental and less catering to advertising the movies for kids.

Saw the first episode and it works. I see why they did it in stop motion style because some of the gore might be a little too DCAU for them like the new Harley Quinn series so they made it more comical.

I agree though this is probably a one and done. It seems like they are focusing everything into the MCU on screens for now. Even Wandavision, TFATWS and Loki are going to be tied into it.

Question for those of you who can watch the whole thing on Hulu, rather than having to wait week by week: does the humor get better? The first two episodes didn't get a single laugh out of me so far. Maybe it's just not for me.

I felt as though the humor was fairly consistent throughout the episodes. If you didn't care for the first two you probably won't appreciate the eight remaining.

In an interview Oswalt said that Feige hisownself was complimentary towards the show. If MODOK gets eyeballs on Hulu there's a decent chance it gets a season 2 regardless of its orphan status. Marvel Studios is exploring Elseworlds in their animated program What If?, so having MODOK set in a separate universe doesn't seem like a stretch.

I'm curious about Hit Monkey, which according to MODOK co-creator Jason Blum also survived the Marvel Television purge.

Appreciated! Think I'll skip the rest of this one. Thanks!!

Recently finished this and it turned into kind of a slog. The last few episodes did not hold my interest so well either. Assuming this gets a second season I may end up passing. It's too bad because it has such a great voice cast.

Binged and finished Modok today, while it did have its moments it’s ultimately a miss for me. I barley laughed at a single thing. This show felt like they decided to take a mediocre Robot Chicken sketch spoofing Marvel and stretch it out to a ten episode show. Overall, I really didn’t enjoy it much, and I will be very surprised if this ever gets a second season(and it most likely won’t). What a missed opportunity, especially with the level of talent that this show had at their disposal. Kind of a shame that this is Marvel’s first adult animated show.
