Marvel's Runaways - Hulu Orders Drama Based on Marvel Comics

If anything I can see them keeping Molly young, so they can keep her around for longer. Especially as she is like 12 but acting like she's 7 or 8 in the comic. And yes, Nico will 100% be asian.

Victor and Xavin definitely wouldn't appear in a first season anyway, so I think it's a bit early to discuss that. We don't even know if a second season will happen.

Why wouldn't Victor appear in the first season?

Why wouldn't Victor appear in the first season?

He's from a later storyline. He's not one of the Pride children. They are Alex Wilder, Nico Minoru, Chase Stein, Karolina Dean, Gertrude Yorkes, and Molly Hayes.

Molly's 12 and Chase is 17/18 if I remember correctly

Chase turns 18 in Volume 2. He was the first born and his birth was the inspiration for the rest of the Pride to have kids. Molly is the youngest at 12 of the original team.

Of the later members, Klara is also 12 and technically speaking the youngest member of the team is Victor, but he's physically 16.

I can't remember how old Xavin is or if they even said.

Yeah, child genius Alex Wilder is black

and Xavin from Vol. 2 is usually depicted as such as well

Also, if you don't know them I'd suggest not looking up too many info on all the characters beforehand, since they will probably stay pretty close to volume 1 of the comic at least.

I really have to read this comic, as it's always been at up there. I read the first few pages or so and I was hooked and Vaughn is one of my favorite comic writers right now.

She's 11 when the series started. She didnt turn 12 until after Second Coming

This is a different thread!

Chase Stein doesn't look like a teenager.

I am STOKED that Virginia Gardner was cast! She was actually my pick to play this role.

Project Almanac was much better than sci-fi geeks gave it credit for, because it was a Young Adult movie made by MTV...but she was good in it and is someone I've been wanting to see in a bigger project.

She's 21...which is a bit old for a "runaway" child...but I'm really glad to see her get this opportunity.

Now they just need to make this part of the MCU and I'll be fully on board.

Interesting cast. Hopefully Inhumans has a diverse cast.

Is this her?

The first entry on Google you get when you search for her is "Virginia Gardener: A state by state gardening publication." :funny:

At least we have an idea what she'll look like as Karolina.

Does she sometimes go by Ginny Gardner?

She'll probably play younger than 21.

That looks like her, I guess. Lots of pictures of her on imdb (which is the first thing that pops up on Google when I search her name). No clue if she used to go by Ginny.

I've just seen her in a few smaller films and she's one of 3 or 4 names that I have in my head when a comic book movie or show needs a pretty young blonde. I thought she's a bit too obviously pretty to play Dagger in that show (not that Dagger shouldn't be attractive). One thing about Project Almanac was that she was playing a bullied/unpopular high school student...and my girlfriend and I were kind of like...yeah...that almost perfect looking girl would be the most popular girl at any high school. But its a YA movie from MTV, so I rolled with it and enjoyed the movie for what it was.

I wonder if they'll mention Nico's mother's connection to Kamar-Taj

Will this be taking place in the MCU? I mean, everything except X-Men properties has so far right?

Yes! Every Marvel movie and TV series with the exception of anything X-men or Fantastic Four related is now part of the MCU. However, this is not to suggest there are not exceptions. For example to me the Inhumans seemed like a property that would have been connected to the Fantastic Four, but it is clearly not. We know this because of the Inhumans story line in Agents of SHIELD and the Inhumans show coming out and both are known to be part of the MCU. Also, just because characters like Daredevil, Ghost Rider and Spider-Man (well sort of on that last one) have reverted to the MCU, it does not make their previous movies with other Studios canon to the MCU. I hope this helps.

Surfer

I don't see why it wouldn't be. I mean they even
Showed Nico's mother wielding her staff in Dr. Strange

After all.

I dont like that they went and changed Molly's name and race

Perhaps they wanted to add a Hispanic member to the team? The comic got a lot of praise for it's diversity, and they already have several White team members. Just a thought.

Maybe she was the only one they could switch without changing too much. Some are also already other ethnicities so you couldn't change Nico Minoru.

Perhaps. Or they just didn't want to wait for Victor to show up (or they're still trying to figure out how to introduce him)? This way, they have:

-A black man.
-A Hispanic girl.
-A Lesbian.
-A White guy and girl (who's somewhat heavier than usual).
-A Japanese girl.

They've covered their bases here.

Even if that were the case, I don't see why they couldn't have left her name intact. It didn't need to change

Eh it doesn't bother me really. As long as her actual character/personality is still accurate, it's not that big a deal imo.

Maybe they wanted something that was more distinctly Hispanic. Hayes can make it sound like she's of some other ethnicity.

Now we'll have to see whether they change her name in the comic too.

That actress for Nico easily looks like she could play Jubilee.

Karolina is white too, and people might not know she's lesbian to start with. But I think she needs to remain white because it seems as if she's projecting the perfect model image and all-American girl at the start.

Also, the actor playing Chase is English in real life and also Jewish. Are they going to keep him that way? Stein sounds like a Jewish surname anyway. He's 24, which is a little old to be playing the part.
