Alright. Its a well known fact that the current big cheeses and Marvel dispise Spider-man's lovely red headed wife with a passion. There are several threads on this already.

But what I don't like is when they say it is unrealistic for Peter to end up with somone so gorgeous.

Now I understand that most of them are hetrosexual males, but are they blind!

Peter Parker is one of the sexiest male characters in comics.

How do I know? I'm a girl! We notice these things. I've discussed this other comic reading females and they all agree. MJ is one of the luckiest girls alive.

Shall I now gush like the crazed fangirl I am?

Yes I shall.

Lets start with the looks. Pete may still be a total nerd but he hasn't looked like one for a loooong time. He's got adorable slightly mussed hair, big brown puppy dog eyes and a boy next door face.

Then there is his body. A perfect ten. Not too slender and gracefull without an ounce of fat and plenty tall. Not to mention what is widly considered to be the finest male butt in the Marvel U.(If you wanted to know Nightwing holds the DC crown).

Brains. Intelligence is very attractive.

Personality.Funny,caring,protective,loving,romantic,responsible,and humble.

Prowess. I own at least 30 comics where these two are um enjoying married life. Peter seems too be quite "healthy" in that department. :o

In this girls opinion I'm betting its MJ that is constantly pinching herself when she looks at her spouse. Not the other way around.:spidey:

I always say if I could land a girl as hot as my wife, so could Peter.

Nuh-uh! Peter could never land any hot girl because he's supposed to be in high school and a nerd and nerds never ever ever get any nookie and...

Sigh.

I agree littleredhat. And quite frankly,

sometimes I feel Peter is too good for Mary Jane.

I thought she was a total ***** about their separation and how she basically abandoned him while she could live it up in LA and have an affair with Lobster Guy.

Plus she kept that secret about Gwen from him all those years.

It was in the Invincible/Spider-Man cross-over in which Invincible said something along the lines of how he wasn't surprised Peter had MJ as a wife. Invincible pointed out that Pete was in great phsyical condition and seemed to have a lot going for him... or something like that.

I agree. Peter could land someone like MJ anyday. Though that doesn't seem to be the guys in charge only reason. They seem to also want to free Peter up again so he can be a 'swinger', which if you ask me is extremely shallow and shows their level of thinking. They believe that young males, which is there target, will only read things where the guy is constantly trying to score.

Now you couldn't really call me a prude but am I really the only person who sees that as an irresponsable image to sell to kids. No wonder we're often jerks when going through puberty, with the raging hormones and constant images from the media on what a 'man' is supposed to be, it's not a great leap of the imagination to see how they act like that.

Not that I'm saying it takes all responsability away from us but rather that it is very influential to young boys.

Lobster what? Anyone got pics of this guy? I guess this would be another time in Spidey's life where the writers suffered from a lack of imagination.

That is just horrible writing. The fact that it got published and their current 'plans' are just more proof that they shouldn't be allowed to have control over Spider-man titles. Actually, scratch that. I wouldn't trust them with any comic after this.

MJ being a ***** was the mandate of the Marvel editors and was inconsistent with her character. I cant fault her for that. She never had an affair with Lobster Man, they were both actors doing a part for a movie. That was the sum total of thier "relationship."

I think that both Peter and MJ are lucky people. Peter has a loving and caring wife and Mj has a husband that would die for her. I agree with whoever said that the editors at Marvel are some shallow S.O.B.'s. Not all men want to be playas. To have Peter leave Mary Jane to go out and party is totally out of character.

That isn't true. I'm a geek and can pull. :)

Some girls are actually turned on by guys who are geek-sheek or whatever. but as far as looks go, Peter was NEVER considered ugly. Even when he had no powers and wore glasses. They made fun of him for being smart....not being an "ugly nerd". So it's official that he does have good "looks".

Not to mention the unofficial rule that if a guy has looks anywhere from "plain" to "attractive" he can pull off getting a hot girlfriend or wife. Cases in point:
Barney Rubble
Fred Flintstone
Peter Griffin
James "Logan" Howlett
Super Mario
Homer Simpson
Reed Richards....(see Rant below*)

So yeah, if all those fat, short, or geeky guys can get "hot" wives and girlfriends. Why can't handsome Peter?

*Especially when you consider Reed Richards. WTF!? He's like 50 and his wife looks 23. They're like the oldest couple in marvel history. He's skinny, pretty ugly, and even after he got powers...they weren't even good powers. Not in comparison with other heroes. Yet he bangs Susan summers? Joe, hey, buddy...why won't you question their marriage? Why don't they get divorced?

People get too much joy out of seeing Peter suffering. The comics aren't supposed to be about depression and drama. They're supposed to be about this kid who got powers and chose to do the right thing with them because when he didn't bad stuff happened. But his life is supposed to go from there. Not be held back by constant disappointment and pain.

Silly Marvel...

lol I forgot her last name....Susan Storm, right? That's what I meant.

Heh I think you were shootin' fer Sommers, which'd STILL be wrong.

FooD brings up a good point with Logan.

We are suposed to beleive that a short, hairy, homely, foul tempered, cigar, smoking, beer guzzleing, over one hundredyear old canadian, with memory problems and hygiene issues has to beat off the the babes with a stick.*

And yet a sweet intellegent, funny, clean cut, responsible young man with a perfect body and an exellent face can't hold on to a girl who's liked him since highschool?

* No offence to Logan but no girl is going to take him home to meet her parents. He basicly a one night event.

What hygiene issues? 'Cause he's hairy? Please. And it's th' bad boy thing. Everyone wants a bad boy.

All I'm saying is that the bad boys don't always get all the girls.

Sometimes the geeks land the hotties instead.

By the way the term that nerd loving ladies use to describe their taste in men is "Adorkable".

For example Ultimate Reed Richards blowing himself up with C4 and being covered in soot except for where his goggle were is adorkable.

If I were a girl....say Black Cat....I'd totally be stalking Peter.

Pete's a hottie and come on, he's spider-man. It doesn't get much sexier than that. The fact that Marvel is being run by a bunch of shallow, idiotic, always compensating for something, hot headed males is the reason the marriage is always dumped on. Joe Q can blame all the problems he wants on the marriage, but I'm sure even he knows that the second he gets rid of the marriage he loses a scapegoat, and as shocking as it may be, he will have to own up to his mistakes.

Actually Wolverine has had a bad past so thats why he comes off as a ass sometimes. I just read issue 41 of Wolverine today and in it, it showed Wolverine has a good heart and feels bad after killing someone(when hes not in berserk rage). There's been alot of issues though where Wolverine comes across as a god hearted guy. So maybe alot of girls can sense that and look past the physical features that you described as being bad.

Plus he doesn't have memory problems anymore.:p

Has anyone ever told you that you had too much faith in people? I honestly don't think these guys would see the point if you jabbed their eyes with it.

As for Logan. Sure, he may be the bad boy but there's more than that to him. He's been married apparently and has held down a relationship or two. He does have his softer side but it is very hard to see since writers don't seem to be aware of it the majority of the time.

Though is it just me or is Marvel turning into the lonely harts club. I mean you have Rogue & Remy, Scott & Jean and soon to be Peter & MJ. I'm sure there are other famous couples in Marvel that aren't together at the moment you can think of but these are the most known as far as I can recall.

I'm glad Rogue & Remy might be through, I hated they're relationship. It totally ruind Remy's character. I like Scott and Emma better then Scott and Jean, even though it looks like Scott and Emma's might be done with soon.

Jean put it best in X2

"Girls flirt with the dangerous guy, they don't bring him home... they marry the good guy."

Being married to Spider-man has been shown to have all sorts of benifits.

The greatest of which being that you can get your own web-shooters.(I <3 Marvel:Web of Romance.)

*sigh* Mabey Joe Q thinks that if MJ is out of the picture he'll stand a chance.

You know that thing where fangirls get crushes so big on characters that they cannot stand seeing them with anyone else.:(
