Mask Of The Phantasm Appreciation Thread

not that it was EXACTLY like Returne ending, but it had a VERY similiar vibe to it. the 3 characters, 1 that killed her (or in this case, her father), she wants revenge, batman urges her to stay, she doesnt listen, she takes joker (obviously has her revenge), batman cant find her, and hes alone once again.

Batman the mask of phantasm was inspired from Tim Burtons batman but even at that, it's a separate movie, much like "batman begins", pretty much all the of the movies deal with similar themes, comparisons will be inevitable, it's not batman returns, I don't really understand your obsession with Burton as if if were the definitive batman, because it's not, it's an interpretation from the source material (which all movies have taken liberties in some way or another), which contrary to your signature, is the comics, not Tim Burton.

im not saying the the comics = tim burton. i like all the different and TV versions of batman for the most part, except batman beyond. but i am niot "obsessed", i just happen to see a very similiar plotline that reminded me of Returns. you cant blame me for that. and please ignore other ppl who are calling me a troll, they are in fact the only ones trolling the board at the moment.

I prefer the last 45 seconds of Batman's destiny myself !

im not sayin its an exact copy or anything, but damn, this is total tim burton batman moment right there with the signal. awsome. love how the batginal ISNT blurry. i like when its clear, more iconic IMO.

You take a cheap shot whenever you get the chance, don't you, Google?

BTAS has some of the best scripting on any tv show in the last fifteen years...
But Phantasm is not their best movie.

I won't go as far to say its bad, but so much of the excellent premise is IMMEDIATELY bogged down in very lengthy flashback sequences, which are interspersed randomly through the film and are too long, so the film actually feels like two stitched together. They really should have handled these better, since the one story (modern day) is really the more interesting/exciting one, while the flashbacks, while providing some key information, are VERY slow.

It just slowed the pacing down a lot. Still beats the awful Sub-zero hands down.

Is Mystery of the Batwoman any good?

It's good but ain't no MOTP, I like extra footage "Chase me" where Batman chases Catwoman.

You are so subtle.

I gave a chance to Subzero, even if I hate the Mr Freeze character for its redundant story through many renditions.
It doesn't even come close in excitement, suspense, mystery, entertainment, mature for kids kind of stuff like MotP did.

The Joker parts when Sal is jokerized, Joker visits Arthur and Joker laughing hysterically before disappearing with Andrea is quite creepy... I had chills first time I heard that laugh before that ambigous disapperance, damn Hamill you're a good voice actor!

He IS very good. He has several distinct laughs he draws on in the series, ranging from hysterical hooting to evil cackle to threatening snicker and everything between. Credit where credit is due, the man can LAUGH, and anybody who has tried acting before, laughing is one of the hardest things to do convincingly, let alone do an evil laugh which doesn't sound stupid.

of course he is good, he is a VOICE actor, he can probably make great arm pit noises with just his mouth.
