Mass Effect 3

I'm always a paragon... but I tend to be realistic about it. I'd have NO issue being a "good man" and being able to rub it in the Councils face that they are all a bunch of jackasses.

ESPECIALLY the Turian council member .... The prick...

"I don't like to say I told you so, so I'll shout it through cupped hands. I TOLD YOU SO!!" hahah

I usually got he Paragade route, mix it up a bit.

I see myself as a wild west style paragon. Think of Timothy Olyphant in Deadwood. I will uphold the law and maintain justice, but if you f*** with me by god I will come down on you with the fire of ten suns!

yea...but vigil and sovereign was over 2 years ago by the end of ME2.
This reply makes no sense. What were you attempting to imply? That in two years, any information given to us by Vigil and Sovereign - information, mind you, that had held true for thousands of years - is suddenly outdated?

The fact is that Dark Space is a long effing way away from the galaxy. And in response to the ending events of ME2, our final glimpse before the credits roll is Harbinger and his band of Merry Reapers beginning that very long trek.

highly doubtful. the teaser for mass effect 2 was shepard dead. well, that happened in the first minute of me2. so i doubt the invasion of earth is anywhere after the first 30 min of ME3
This is like saying that since one apple is red, all apples are red.

i get that...but i doubt that will be in the game. in any way.
Why do you doubt this? What makes it such an unlikely plot point?

And onto a plot twist of my own! Plot of the thread, anyway.

Beware, beware. There may be some ME2 character spoilers. Not many, but eh.

I was chatting wth a friend about what to expect for characters in ME3. We considered that BioWare needn't bring back any characters from ME1. Kaidan/Ashley can be wrapped up in a way similar to Liara in Lair of the Shadow Broker, with DLC. So could Wrex, conceivably. Furthermore, there wouldn't be a lot of sense in any of them coming back, considering they're all too important for Shepard in ME2. Basically, it's too much of a stretch to go from "We're totally not joining you" to "We're totally joining you."

So we considered the team as of ME2. Assuming a full party with loyalty and all surviving, we figured that eight of the twelve would likely stay on. Regardless of how the player ends ME2, Miranda and Jacob stay on with Shepard. It makes sense that Tali (now vas Normandy) and Garrus would stick around. Thane and Jack are potential love interests, so figure them to be game for sticking around (not to mention, there's no point to them going elsewhere, though they easily could). Grunt should stick around, since he considers Shepard his battlemaster. And then there's Legion.

We figured Zaeed, Kasumi, Samara, and Mordin would leave or be dismissed. Zaeed and Kasumi are DLC characters, one, so there's nothing to make me assured they would be brought back. Furthermore, both are essentially mercenaries hired as part of the specific mission, with nothing to suggest they would stay on beyond that. Too bad, but alas. Samara is in a similar vein, though not a mercenary. Mordin was brought on for a specific purpose, and unless there's a big science necessity in ME3, he isn't needed. Plus, he's old, and he probably has more important **** to do.

Anyway, that's what we figured. It allows them to keep an established cast in part, while still introducing some new characters. I have a hard time imagining them tossing out the entire cast, given how much time they spent building them up throughout ME2.

This doesn't take into account variables like incomplete crews in ME2 (for whatever reason) or non-loyal squadmates, but I'd prefer not to speculate on that.

What's everyone think?

I'd really love for Ashley/Kaiden to come back, I think they could quite easily decide to join the mission again since they were just a bit miffed at Shepard in ME2 & the scene where Shepard looking at the frame can't just be for nothing.

Yeah, Bioware has said they want to continue the romance if you stay faithful.

Since you now have proof of the Reapers, Earth being attacked, lol I'm sure they'll forgive you for working with Cerberus. I'm hopin we get to fight alongside all of the old and new crew.

They can continue the romance track without making the person a squadmember. It's what they did with ME2, and they spoke about it at length while developing ME2 and after its release.

Eligibility for being part of the land squad has nothing to do with whether you can be in a romance with the character, as Hudson and others have stated.

It's why I'm not 100% that characters like Jack and Thane will return. I just grouped them as returning since there's no real reason, per ME2, that they would leave Shepard.

As good a reason as any.

I expect that we'll actually be going to London during the course of the game, that would be neat. If that's the case I expect a Doc Who reference. :cmad:

Yeah, I hope Earth constitutes a big part of the game. I feel a bit shafted that we've only been able to drive around the barren-ass moon so far in ME.

If Ashley thinks she can rejoin my crew after being such a ***** on Horizon, she's got another thing coming.

But goddamn, screw Grunt, I want Wrex to return as a squad member. :cmad:

I like Grunt. Whichever newbies we get next time, I'm sure the writers will make me like them, too. So far I've only found Zaeed and Kaidan annoying out of all the squadmates. The vast majority of major characters in Mass Effect are great.

Mordin should come back because I like him. :o
I laughed so hard when he sang after talking to him a few times after his loyalty mission. Funny and awesome.

And I like Grunt as well. Especially his kick-ass attitude. "Good bunch if they stay out of my way. Dead bunch if they don't."

Or when you're fighting and he randomly shouts "I..am...KROGAN!!"

Great character. Probably my fave of this game next to Thane and Samara.

Kasumi's my favorite, I think. I love that she's a career criminal but she's also among the friendliest and most emotional characters. Compare her to Samara, who's technically an Asari super-cop yet wholly devoted to murdering her own daughter and anyone who gets in her way. Lots of juicy contradictions and unexpected traits to the characters of ME, which is part of what makes them so strong.

Grunt's file in Lair of the Shadowbroker was the greatest thing ever.

I've still gotta play "Overlord." I was going through my file transfers because I switched to a new hard drive for my 360 last night, and I realized I still have "Overlord" just sitting there. Never touched it.

Miranda was my "girl" in ME2, she had attitude, I liked that. Maybe it was the white latex I dunno.
