Mass Effect 3

I just got ME1 and I'm hoping to start playing it sometimes soon, but during the character intro I was surprised by the amount of customization for our hero to choose, so I'm just wonder what did you guys pick that is the best to get through the game?

The Vanguard class was my favorite for ME 1. But all of the classes have their pros and cons, and you can create pretty effective teams based on which squadmates you complement your Shepard with. It's pretty balanced.

I wonder how big a role The Englishman ( is this his name now......lol ) will have in ME3?

maybe he'll be a LI for female Shep!! :awesome:

oh, and the fact that ME3 will take place on Earth makes me more inclined to choose the Earth-Born background when I create my Sheps.

Hopefully, the fact that you are returning ( to protect ) your home planet will be an important factor, storywise, for Earth-Born Sheps........

I won't be seeing Tali's face in my Femshep's story. I have NO IDEA what I did wrong on the suicide mission, but SOMEONE just kept dying. I picked the right people, my team was at maximum strength, we had the weapons, etc.

But as soon as I killed the human Reaper and GTFO, there was always someone dead. First it was Mordin, so I restarted, then it was Tali, then I did it again, and it was Tali...again.

So I just said "**** THIS" and let it be.

There must be some sort of X Factor I missed.
You're talking about the "Hold the Line" segment, I'm betting.

The X-Factor there is survivability/squishiness/splatability. If you leave squishies at the hold the line segment without sufficient defensive-oriented characters, some of the squishies will die. Reasoning: they don't have the know-how to handle a siege-like situation, nor the training, nor the armor/body to take more than a few hits.

Mordin, Tali, and Legion are the main squishies, I think in that order in the ME2 algorithms. After them, I know Jack and Thane are considered squishies, but I don't remember their order. That's mostly moot, though, since usually it's just Mordin who dies.

Easiest way to prevent this from happening is sending Mordin back with the crew, and leaving Grunt, Garrus, and Zaeed at the line. Loyalty obviously matters, as it does with just about everything in the suicide mission.

You don't have to do that exactly, but it's the way to play it safe. I'll note that in my first playthrough, not knowing what mattered and what didn't, I actually send Jacob back with the crew. I left Mordin and Tali at the line along with an unloyal Legion, and took Jack and Thane with me to the final boss, I believe. Everyone survived.

In subsequent playthroughs I usually send Mordin back with the crew and take Miranda and Thane with me to the final boss. As long as you leave Grunt and Garrus and both are loyal, I think it pretty much doesn't matter.

On the other hand, if what you're talking about is your taking them with you to the final boss (that is, Mordin or Tali) and they're dying after the long fall where Shepard hoists the beams off his squadmates, then that means they're unloyal. All unloyal party members die if brought to the final boss, no ifs, ands, or buts.

Hope that helps. If you have any questions, just ask.

The only way I can see this really mattering to an Earthborn Shepard is if there's content with the gang he ran with. I forget what the name was, but they're made out to be pretty much scum in ME1.

Steer clear of spoilers if you're just starting to play through. Hit level 50 in ME1 and you're golden for import into ME2, and make sure you get the Rich achievement, too. (It's pretty hard to miss.)

Go with whatever Shepard you want. Background only matters in your mind and for one of three quests in ME1, which is dependent on the background. When you import into ME2, you can change Shepard's class if you really want to.

Are Shepard's parents dead in all of his origins? If not, maybe they wind up as casualties in the Reaper attack. Granted, that seems to be kind of a reach for dramatic impact, since his parents haven't been a factor at all in either of the games so far.

We see his mom in Mass Effect 2 I think depending on what you pick

Parents are dead in Earthborn and Colonist backgrounds.

With Spacer, Shepard's parents are alive. I don't know about the father, but the mother (Hannah) is XO of the Kilamanjaro (I think I spelled that correctly) and has risen to Captain, I believe, as of ME2.

Oh yeah, I remember that now. Still not really much of a family connection, though.

It really doesn't matter that much. Just pick whichever class appeals to you most. Besides, you can always use your squadmates to offset any weakness your chosen class might have.

Yeah since I chose Spacer I remember the assignment in ME, it was cool to talk to Shepard's mother.

if I choose the Earth-born origin, can my Shep still be a good, "paragon" character?

I read somewhere that Earth-born favors being a Renegade more........is that true?

Nah, it's just that if you choose Earth-born you'll get a large bonus to your Renegade points, Spacer it's instead Paragon and Colonist gets a small bonus to both Paragon and Renegade points.

I picked Earth-born for ME:2 and went full paragon. It's only recently that I'm replaying the game the same, only favoring to the renegade side. His words/insults are quite funny and I like that his scars looked healed and his eyes start glowing as you progress with it.

Shepard. Welcome to the dark side.

Ashley in ME 1 for all of my male Sheps. I switched one of them over to Jack in ME 2, though. I was working on a female Shep play-through with Liara as the love interest, but I never finished it.

My main Shep (and still only Shep) is a FemShep whose love interest is Liara. A few playthroughs I've done out the male love interests for ME2, but when I get around to doing my perfect playthrough for import into ME3, she'll be staying loyal to Liara.

I'm tempted to go back to ME:1 to start a relationship with Liara. For ME:2 I've only been with Tali and Miranda "DAT ASS" Lawson. I've pursued her more. I haven't had my Shepard with Jack because I chose Miranda's side after they fought and my morality meter's weren't high enough to fix what I had going with Jack.

Now that I'm playing the game again though, I'll pick Jack. Curious as to what her "love scene" is.

My male "human supremacist" Shepard I intend to start at some point will be pursuing the Miranda romance track. And banging Jack prior to that.

I chose Miranda for my main male Shepard, the main reason why it's probably because I got a crush on Yvonne Strahovski. :p

My Shepard got to make out with Miranda on top of banging Ashley, Jack and Tali. P-I-M-P. :o

too bad Tali isn't a LI for FemShep.........:csad:

but she can be my FemShep's BFF.......:awesome:
