There is no canon Shepherd.

There's no canon Shepard except for look. I always felt that the default Shepard was canon Shepard, and this is coming from a guy who uses a custom male and female shepard.

How he acts is up to the gamer though.

*Game begins with Shep on Earth on trial.
*There will be reaper husks of many different species.
*Liara, Virmire Survivor, Garrus, some guy named James Sanders are confirmed squaddies.
*Wrex, Mordin, and Legion are in the game, but none necessarily as squadmates.
*Anderson, Udina, and Illusive Man will be back.
*The game will ship with an interactive motion comic like the PS3 version of ME2 had for people starting fresh with ME3.

To be brutally honest, I think Liara's one of the dullest characters in Mass Effect's roster. Samara, despite her cultish do-gooder inclinations, had a much better personality. However, my ideal choice for an asari squadmate would be Aria. She was one of the best additions to the Mass Effect universe right alongside the Illusive Man and it would be great to have her tag along on my space misadventures.

To be brutally honest, I think Liara's one of the dullest characters in Mass Effect's roster. Samara, despite her cultish do-gooder inclinations, had a much better personality. However, my ideal choice for an asari squadmate would be Aria. She was one of the best additions to the Mass Effect universe right alongside the Illusive Man and it would be great to have her tag along on my space misadventures.

Yeah, Aria would be a great squadmate but I just don't see the possibility atm. Samara was basically a lantern of some sorts so I thought she was cool. A bit disappointed to here that Liara is a teammate once again but she was awesome in LOTSB so I can't hate on her insanity too much.

As for the other team mates, I can see Grunt going back to Tuchanka considering the private message you receive after his loyalty mission. Mordin's brilliance could still be used in a lab, Tali should stick around as I doubt she can leave Shepard's side for long unless it has something to do with the Migrant Fleet, who knows what Jack will do, probably go off pirating if she doesn't stay. Jacob will stay around to be a bro, Kasumi/Zaeed will probably leave, and not sure about the rest.

As for James Sanders, my guess is he is the obligatory biotic soldier character. This game's Kaiden/Jacob.

Im guessing they are ou to get them to. In my end game, Miranda pretty much [BLACKOUT]turns her back on them when she sides with Shepard[/BLACKOUT]

I agree,[BLACKOUT] I don't think Jacob is that loyal to the Illusive Man to begin with anyway. Miranda is different, she joined Ceberus since she like Ceberus wants to help humanity, whether is with Shepard or Illusive Man it won't matter I guess, but of course, if she's loyal and is a love interest for you then it's certain she also will stick with Shepard.[/BLACKOUT]

I'm pretty sure all the majors from ME2 are coming back. That is to say the love interests, this is only the first batch of characters they've released any info about thus far.

I'm also fairly certain Grunt will be back to fill the Krogan spot on the team.

And Mordin doesn't necessarily need to be a squadmate. I'd be perfectly happy with him setting up shop permanently in the Normandy lab to assume a Chakwas-like role (with more dialogue of course).

And Miranda actually quits in the Paragon ending so them coming along, Cerberus or not, is already pretty much set up.

By their own account they've been working on it since just before the release of ME2 so its about a 2 year development cycle more or less which wasn't much less than the time gap between ME1 (Nov 2007) and ME2 (Jan 2010)

Yeah, but will I be able to have someone replace him or will I just be looking at a blank slot the entire game? That's more of what I'm wondering. My 'canon' Shep got everyone out alive, so I'm good on that one.
