Days of Future Past Matthew Vaughn Is NOT Helming X-Men: First Class Sequel

I wonder if this could be the start of Fox's Marvel collapse?

Perhaps Trank jumps ship, too...and then Fox is left scrambling to get their X-Men and Fantastic Four films off the ground, but fail to succeed in time, with the rights to both slipping through their fingers back into Marvel's hands!

Ah...a man can dream...

Not happening.

First Rupert Wyatt leaving Apes, and replaced by the subpar Matt Reeves. And now Vaughn not doing DOFP... FOX is back to their old tricks, I see.

If only Bryan would return, if only, but I'm afraid I am not that optimistic.

Hopefully we'll at least get the TUXM Omnibus Vol. 2 out of this...

Yeah, I'm not a fan of Matt Reeves either.

Singer directing is a good thing.

He gave us the best X-Men films to date & arguably the best Marvel CBM so far with X2.

I'm very happy to see him undertake this story.
He is not yet directing anything. He's just at the top of their wishlist. He may decline. :|

This Is going to be like Hobbit when Peter Jackson steps back In after already being Involved as writer/producer.I really think It's very unlikly SInger doesn't step In as
director. He already by this report wrote treatment for film and was Involved as producer.

Vaughn remains a producer and had hand In script.reportly the script Is done. This Is like First Class situation more than Last Stand.

Singer has already been unofficially running the Franchise for awhile. And a X-Men film
directed by Singer with more money and time than he had on X-Men/X2 Is great prospect.

He won't dude, he's producing too.

This may have all been in Singer's head since First Class. To come back to The X-Men.

Its the Jackson/Del Toro switch that happened with THE HOBBIT.

If Singer returns to direct, John Ottman will be scoring X-Men: Days of Future Past. There's no doubt about that.

Any returning composer would be a first. I like what Ottman did with X2, especially "Suite from X2," but I would hate to see Jackman go.

Off-topic, but I love your avatar, it's awesome! :yay:

Thanks!

Cloverfield and Let Me In were both okay/fine movies.
The Escapist and ROTPOTA were both great movies.

Now, I'll take a okay/fine Apes movie over a **** one any day, but I wouldn't mind a great one... which I think Wyatt would have delivered.

It would be ideal if they simply "switch places" like Deadline suggests.

First Class was to be directed by Singer. He wrote the treatment, began pre-production, and oversaw the entire film as a pretty hands on producer.

Ideally we'd get the opposite now. Vaughn's treatment. Vaughn began pre-production, and now Vaughn will switch over to the producers seat.

Have faith in Reeves. He's a competent director that made a remake comparable to its brilliant original.

Matthew Vaughn was a big part of why X-Men: First Class was so good. Oh well...it is Bryan Singer that directed X2 after all. Let's all hope that Singer and Vaughn are trading places because if this ends up being repeat of the X-Men: The Last Stand situation, God help us all.

Speaking of X-films, let's just hope James Mangold doesn't pull a Gavin Hood and actually delivers on The Wolverine.

That's what everyone said when Singer left First Class. :)

I got scared when I saw this headline, but as long as Singer and Vaughn are still producing, and the script if still by Vaughn and Goldman... I have nothing to worry about.

Man, I'm fine with Singer directing a X-film again but yet I'm quite bothered by Vaughn not directing...:(

I truly hope so.

I hope so and my quote seems kinda harsh when you think about that he has – as a director – only released SR and Valkyrie after X2. But still, Returns was such a huge disappointment and personally I found Valkyrie quite terrible.

I agree though, that Singer doing this is the smoothest and best choice if Vaughn leaves.

Oh no, I fully agree. SR was lame and I didn't even give Valkyrie a chance because it looked so boring. He's a fantastic director with the right projects.

I don't know any one director enough to care as long as the story is good. I don't know if I would have known the difference between one guy or the other if I had watched this film one after the other in comparison. Even a great director can make a crap film if the story is weak. :(

Let's not hope it's the same thing since because of the delays, Del Toro dropped out then peaced out.

I personally prefer the X2 score overall... but if I never get to hear the Magneto theme again I will be pretty sad.

I'm not a man of faith. Any kind of faith. LTROI was miles better than LTM, which was just fine.

Thirded.

SR was bullcrap & Valkyrie was tremendously uninspired.

Singer belongs with The X-Men.

Hopefully, if it's not Bryan Singer, it doesn't turn out into a Brett Ratner or Gavin Hood situation. And good luck to James Mangold. Hopefully, he can fit the mold with his film.

Now that I think about it...with X-Men: First Class being so good, imagine if Vaughn didn't drop out of X-Men: The Last Stand. Whew man.

I'm disappointed. Singer is fine, but I'd consider him a safe option at this point.

I think Vaughn would've made a much better film.

Oh, definitely. DoFP will be gold if Singer returns. It will definitely shoot up to my most anticipated cbm for 2014 if he chooses to direct. I think he will, since he doesn't seem to have any other projects lined up.
