How have you changed since your debut on the Hype?

In a number of ways.

Comic Films: Marvel films is what brought me to Spider-Man Hype/Superhero Hype!. That said, I'm not nearly as naive as I was when it comes to having faith in these movie studios to make good comic book films. When I arrived I was practically a friggin FOX plant the way I praised and defended their decisions. And I (along with many others) were consistenty burned over and over again. So, pardon the pun but I definitely don't believe...the hype...when it comes to these comic films anymore. I prepare myself to be dissapointed and by lowering my expectations significantly I end up enjoying the films more.

In terms of Modding: Although I think I've had a bit of change in my approach to modding. The first time I joined the staff back in 2005 I was totally into the business of moderating. Almost like a policeman. I was all about the rules--and I was looking for people's mistakes. Instead of enjoying what we were talking about (the Marvel films that were coming out at the time) I found myself scanning through pages and pages of threads looking for errors. Answering every distress call with unmitigated passion. It wasn't very enjoyable. Why? Because I had somewhat lost my balance: I was no longer a Hypester, but more like a Hype Cop.

But over the years I learned that as I got more comfortable in the role, it was totally possible to strike a balance between working for the Hype populace and with the Hype populace. When I came back the second time I was determined to be a Mod of the Peoples. To be myself. There's just no reason to check your personality at the door and alienate your friends here just because you have an assignment to carry out. I haven't banned anyone since my return and it's mostly because I've been able to reason with most folks to settle down...and they know I'm trying to give them a chance to straighten up.

Some have said that I'm the most liberal mod on staff here. Whatever. I choose to believe that I just enjoy myself and try to remember that first and foremost I'm a Hypester--I just come to work here. [blackout]However, I will get in your azz if you screw up--give no quarter.[/blackout]

Besides, harrassing these knuckleheads in Community has given me immense pleasure. I wouldn't trade it for the world. Everyone is so damn silly and EMO and I love it.

My personality: For one I've grown up over the last several years, so I'd like to think I'm more mature as an adult in my approach to things. I'm a lot more free and laid back. Stuff just doesn't bother me as much as it used to. I'm like f*** it and move on with my day. Life is too short to sweat the small stuff, ya know?

Are you happy with where you are in your life?
Hey Ahura!!

Right now presently? No. Not in the least. I'm going through some serious deconstruction right now.

What would you like to change anything about it?
I wish I could undo the automobile accident I was in a few months ago--it caused more damage than what was done to the car. I know I didn't really talk about that publicly here but I was in a very terrible accident that resulted in deaths of loved ones--and weirdly enough--my subsequent break-up with my significant other of 11 years.

What are your plans that will enable such a change?
I can't undo the past. I just have to move on to the future.

No. I've never banned anyone that I didn't really believe needed to go for the betterment of the site. Most of the time I'm able to reason with a wayward user to calm down before I have to light a match under their azz. So I rarely have to ban anyone these days.

Now, have I seen other mods ban people that I didn't feel deserved such discipline? Yes. But mods are not perfect--and neither are the posters who place them in such awkward situations.

What originally brought you to ze Hype?
Marvel films and my displeasure at Jessica Alba being cast in Fantastic Four.

What made you stay?
My friends here. I have a lot of attachments to folks throughout these forums.

What is the first thing you notice about someone when you meet them in person for the first time?

I discreetly do a complete once-over actually. Total 360 degrees and take note of everything. Often I check a person out all over long before I even speak to them. However, I will find myself staring into their eyes or at their lips.

If their breath stinks though it is ovah.

I would say my all-time favorite artist is Dale Eaglesham. He does fantastic inks. In terms of writing, I appreciate Geoff Johns work. Ironically, they worked together for a long time on Justice Society which was arguably one of the best books out at the time.
