whaaaaaat??? that was the whole point in the game, max payne without bullet time is nothing!

Oh talking of lines we have to have some moments where the bad guys are holding general discussions about tv and things and then suddenly "Its Max Payne WHACK IM"
sorry to many movies copied this from the matrix. its waaaay to late for bullet time effect.
it was very important in the game. but this is a movie and its coming 8 years after the matrix out.
its to late.

I hope this movie is good, its my favorite game.. ****... I can already feel some dumb ass studio exec ****ing it up

The producers only need to think it's "The Matrix" meets "Dirty Harry" and they'll just shut up about it.

I kno what ur sayin but damn its Max Payne!!!

If they're going to bother making a movie from the game, I'd like to see them follow the game's plot with elements of the game used. Otherwise, it's a just a cop revenge flick with a guy named Max Payne. Part of the charm of the story of the game was it's cheesiness. I think it would be appreciated in the film if handled properly.

Wahlberg as Max Payne? not quite what i had in mind but we'll see. if Wahlberg is anything is that he's a constant surprise.

Haha what exactly do you mean?

You underrate him before his movies come out and then he surprises you?? Haha

No I agree to an extent, Marky Mark had one of my favorite roles of this decade in I heart Huckabees, certainly one of the most colorfully unique roles I can think of, I think he can do about anything so I am excited to see him act again

Wahlberg is turning out to b a better actor with each new movie he's in, he keeps raising the bar, thats why i said he's a surprise.

if you remember the days when he was a rapper, you'd know what i mean.

people need to stop calling him marky mark , hes come a long way and doesnt deserve that everytime he does an interview or is mentioned.

Its just his nickname, and its a nickname a lot of marks get, I know my friend mark gets it all the time, it isn't like we are slighting him

Chill man get some good vibrations!

He will always be marky mark to me, just as david hasslehoff will always be the knight rider.

I agree he is a very talented actor, like i said in my first post one of my favourites. I think he's very versatile, imo he had the best role in the Departed, loved his bad attitude!

And shooter was easily one of my favourite movies this year if not ever.

But yes max payne needs to have the cheesyness of the game, but i'd love for them to shoot it kind of like sin city and 300 but with a similar filter they used over the images in the game. And yes plenty of bullet time!

Flashbacks can have a filter, but for the whole movie to look like a painting would suck.

Mark Wahlberg did an interview for local television earlier this year and the reporter mentioned marky mark , he went from cool to stone cold ready to choka ***** in seconds. the rest of the interview you could tell he was peeved. I can see where he's coming from.
It is good they chose him and like seeing him do these type of roles, I know he can perform well outside of that . crime drama's are my favorite type of film and hopefully this is kind of like the killer in terms of style and violence.

Max Payne Filming Soon
Movie set to get going next month.
by IGN Staff

US, February 1, 2008 - Max Payne, the long-awaited movie version of the best-selling third-person shooter, is gearing up to start filming soon! Academy Award-nominated actor Mark Wahlberg is set to star as the title character who wages a one-man war on crime when his wife and child are killed by thugs.
Shooting on Max Payne will officially get underway in just over a month, on March 2 in Toronto, according to details newly made available on the ProductionCharts.com website. The shoot is currently scheduled to wrap on May 9.
John Moore, whose most recent projects include the war actioner Behind Enemy Lines, the horror remake The Omen, and the airborne adventure Flight of the Phoenix, is directing from a script by Beau Thorne.

Wahlberg has mastered the constipated grimace.

It's not yet known how closely Thorne's story for Max Payne mirrors that of the game. IGN will be checking into it and will have more on the Max Payne movie as soon as news breaks!

Haha, this is funny becuase I just found out they are filming this in Hamilton, ON at my school!

Supposedly it's a drowning scene. They are going to use the pool at McMaster because it's one of the deepest in Ontario. But the scene itself is set in the jungle and will be CGI'd in later.

No clue, that's just what my boss told me. It could be something else. I'll ask him the next time I see him.

I always wanted to play the Max Payne games, but I never got around to it... :(

Me too. Seeing this thread inspired me and I am currently playing 'Max Payne.' I have completed part 1 and I must say, it's pretty cool. A fairly easy game thusfar though. If I had been using a game pad instead of the keyboard and mouse It would have been super simple.

Yeah - it's a story that could easily be adapted to the big screen, but what video game can't?

Wahlberg's Max Payne Shooting Soon

Video game movies, to me, are like going out with a super hot chick on an amazing date where she flirts with you all night and then you barely get a kiss at the end of the night. All D.T. but no delivery.

The last one I saw was Hitman which made me want to hire a hitman to take me out while I was watching it in theaters. The next one? It's the same film but with a new title: Max Payne.

Least this time we have Mark Wahlberg in the movie as Max Payne but even then I'm not really excited. However I'm sure there's literally dozens upon dozens of people excited for this film.

Gaming Today reports:

Word on the street is that the film should start shooting March 2nd in Toronto, and is scheduled to wrap up on May 9th. John Moore (Behind Enemy Lines, The Omen, Flight of the Phoenix) is set to direct the story of a New York cop whose wife and baby are killed by thugs high on a designer drug called Valkyr. Devastated, the cop joins the Drug Enforcement Agency and goes undercover with the mob to find the source of the drug. Framed for the murder of his partner and hunted down by both the mob and the police, he is forced to wage a one-man war against crime.

I hope it at least has the same opening and closing voice over as the game.

"They were all dead.

The final gunshot was an exclamation mark to everything that had led to this point. I released my finger from the trigger. And then it was all over.

The storm seemed to lose its frenzy. The ragged clouds gave way to the stars above.

A bit closer to heaven.

"Woden was there... in the crowd, standing by the sidelines. It wouldn't be over till the man with the patch would say so.

He'd say the right words. I knew he would. He'd better. He was grinning smugly.

It was the grin of a winner.

That made two of us.
