At least it started as PG-13, and they aren't murdering it in the editing room...

Maybe Fox exec's are losing their powers :)

Well it STARTED as PG-13 because Fox got their foot in the door early. Something they tried to do with Hitman, lost control of because the director refused and then tried to fix it at the last minute. The original release for Hitman was later October, they didn't step in until early October, so don't breath a sigh of relief yet.

Babylon AD is PG-13 but they still ensured that turned out to be a mess.

From what I have seen, I will not be surprised if Fox do something to this movie.

Maybe it will be kick ass as PG-13...

The Dark Knight and Bourne Ultimatum showed that is possible, and even this probably won't reach those two, it doesn't need to. Just be good.

To compare someone like John Moore to Nolan and Greengrass is pretty hilarious.

Max Payne was a totally M-rated game series. Some of the imagery in those games was downright nasty and horrific.

Trailer looks good. Better then i thought it would. Ill be watching.

Greengrass is overrated. What good is a fight scene when you can't see a f***ing thing? Tony Gilroy is the guy who deserves the credit and after seeing his visual in Michael Clayton, he's perfect for Max Payne.

Agreed on the imagery of Max Payne, it should've been R. Not to mention Wahlberg works better when he doesn't have to restrain himself.

Eh whatever. I read his first crack of Ultimatum, and what came out on screen was so much better. Especially certain lines of dialogue. It's a collaboration.

Tony Gilroy does not write the pacing and tone Greengrass creates. I don't have a problem with seeing the fight scenes. They all looked fine to me.

If its quick cuts, some of the clips I saw for Payne at SDCC had that as well. I think Moore was talking about lots of action POV shots to make you feel like you are Max Payne getting your ass quicked.

I know net fanboys like dogging on Greengrass, but he hasn't made a single failure yet of his first 4 features. Few directors have that kind of consistency.

Well he definitely restrains it by forcing an accent on the character. It's just . . . ugh.

He's just following Doug Liman's lead from Identity in terms of pacing and tone.

Serious? Damon might as well have been doing jumping jacks in some of those shots. Horrible.

Oh god no.

What net fanboys? Everybody and their grandmother is kissing his ass. He's a good director, but he can't direct a fight scene to save his life.

P.S.

James Cameron
Quentin Tarantino
Christopher Nolan
Steven Speilberg
David Fincher
Tim Burton

You LOSE, good DAY sir.

Don't mind his voice. It's not any different than the narration by Bruce Willis, Clive Owen and Mickey Rourke in Sin City

Ugh whatever. I mean I love Identity. But I feel Greengrass more than upped the ante and to me, nothing matches the tone and pacing of the third movie. It felt like the movie never slowed down to me, it got me jacked and excited the whole way through. There isn't any forced stupid comedy or one-liners in it either.

LOL, I thought the Desh/Bourne fight scene was great. It's kinetic sure, but when Desh does that flip, you know I see it. And when Bourne starts using things like books or a candlestick I see it. When he gets the drop on Desh with a towel, I see it.

I don't mind being an active viewer.

I think you are just used to passively watching things from inferior filmmakers.

People on this board for one. And I've seen it on RT forums.

You LOSE, good DAY sir.

Lol. Tarantino's last movie was a flop.

Spielberg? Eh, I hated Terminal and Munich. Those didn't do that well. But you know, I mean we are talking about Spielberg here. The most powerful director working today. And legendary.

I don't think Fincher has had a big hit since Panic Room 6 years ago.

Cameron hasn't really directed a movie in ten years.

But I mean, what's your point? You could only come up with 5 or 6. That just goes along with my point that few directors can have that consistency.

Just doesn't sound like Max Payne should.

Good for you. I liked Identity better.

There was a candlestick? I couldn't see ****.

I don't mind being an active viewer either, I'm just used to watching things from people who know how to direct a fight scene.

I think you're just used to MTV style editing from out of touch filmmakers who still think it's cool.

Well good. People need to make a stand against epileptic camera crews.

Your OWN words. The aforementioned directors all had successful first four films. Who also happen to be todays most highly regarded directors.

Just doesn't sound like Max Payne should.

Meh. I would've liked him to use his BAHSTUHN accent, but since he can't swear there wouldn't be any point. Again, he's no better no worse than the leads of Sin City.

That just means Greengrass is part of an elite few. That goes along with my point.

First 4. For those guys a lot of them were good. But I mean, Fincher's first movie was Alien 3, yeah. His second and third were Se7en and The Game. Both those were hits. Fight Club, yeah I guess so, though not in its initial theatrical run.

Alien 3 is a financial success. It made three times it's budget theatrically. That's a hit.

And I wouldn't call Bloody Sunday a hit. It's just an independent film. If that's the case the Wachowski's, Raimi, Singer and Jackson should be on that list too. Is that really an elite few? It's practically all the big directors working today.

The trailer looked pretty desent, but I will reserve judgement until I actually see it when it comes out. With the whole FOX debacle or BS I'll have wait 'n see approach to it or anyother FOX movie...

Still holding out for any of those fox stories, If the word on this isn't bad I'm there. By the way, the worst thing about Bourne Identity is the pace. Supremacy and Ultimatum are much better paced. Identity is a little duller compared to its sequels too, the look and feel of it. In Greengrass' films, every location has an exotic and different feel to it (The slight greenish look of Berlin, the bluish look of London and New York, Tangier's tan like look), and I love when director's do that (Nolan for Dark Knight)

He didn't compare them, he was pointing out that the 2 movies showed you can get away with plenty violence-wise in a PG-13, you were just looking for yet another chance to get on your Greengrass loveboat.

The Bourne series is NOT R-rated material. The movie's aren't especially ultra-violent either.

Max Payne is a violent, bloody, and terrifying M-rated game series that gets very messed up at many points.

That has nothing to do with my post.

Hopefully Max Payne gets a Die Hard 4 style unrated DVD release.
Haha, funny story, the only version of 'Die Hard 4' I've seen IS the unrated version, I never bothered to watch the theatrical version.

Well everything I've seen from the film looks pretty promising. Here's hoping that it actually delievers and has other video game adaptations be taken seriously for once.

The interesting thing is that the Marilyn Manson song "If I Was Your Vampire" really does fit the theme of Max Payne almost. Like I can hear that song in my head when playing the game.
