Max Series

Regarding this Penguin series… they better not pull any punches and try to humanize him too much. I want to see him take his place as a ruthless, unrepentant crime lord.

We better not get some “Falcone ruled with fear; I intend to rule with respect” ****.
I want him to become even more psychotic than Falcone

I mean… I really doubt they’re going to devote a whole series to him becoming a nicer guy.

I doubt he'll be a bigger monster than Falcone in the sense I doubt they'll imply he has a long history of being a misogynistic serial killer with a fetish for strangulation but I'm sure they won't make him nice either.

Penguin in his small but big showing in this movie has already been established as a slimy, petty, eager to work with everyone (even GCPD and Batman) for a good amount of money a**hole. I don't see them suddenly making him a nice guy.

Unless that interview was made a bit ago and just published now, or they're still moving ahead just not with Barton.
True, all that is possible. But since it's not coming from a well-reliable source, for the moment, I'm leaning towards this not being true.

What are you talking about? It comes from Variety. The same dude that got the exclusive of Antonio Campos being the showrunner of Arkham updated the article to mention that Gotham PD is still in development

My bad. I didn't see that the tweet was from the same guy who wrote the article.

I can't wait for this. And hopefully the Arkam show actually sticks this time.

Illuminerdi is always a bit of a toss-up with their scoops, but I sure do hope that much of the Falcone family is involved.

As for the planned filming date of January-August of 2023, that indicates an early release in 2024 for The Penguin. A late 2023 HBO Max premiere could be theoretically possible, but such a quick turnaround after principal production seems unlikely. The show will run for eight episodes, and this schedule allows for at least a couple weeks per episode. This affords the creative team enough time to get the show just right, without dealing with a time crunch.

Nice to have an age group to go off of with Maroni. Probably just about Turturro’s age.

It’s actually kind of ironic seeing Cristin Milioti playing the daughter of a mafia don since she’s always kind of reminded me of Talia Shire during her early Godfather years.

lol - yeah, they're not going to Boba Fett him.

love how enthusiastic Farrell is about this role. Thought he stole the movie and his work in banshees was my favorite performance of 2022. Incredible actor, can't wait to see him lead a whole show like this
