I'll probably check out a matinee tomorrow. Dylan 'O Brien does some good work on Teen Wolf.

Saw this earlier today, would rate it 7/10. Started out pretty good with some great world-building in particular, but the ending was lame. I almost thought that the ending was going to reveal that [blackout]the Gladers were the last living people on the planet and that the maze was actually built to protect them from the outside[/blackout] but the actual ending just fell flat. At least it was worth the matinee price that I paid for it.

One of the guys in the movie really looked like he could play a live-action Link for a Legend of Zelda movie btw—Thomas Brodie-Sangster, who I've never seen before but is in Game of Thrones according to his IMDB (I've never seen the show).

I will see the film tomorrow. I look forward to it. :)

What a damn pity.

lol i think this thread title needs some updating? the movie was directed by Wes Ball.

Those grievers, man. Ugly son of *****es.

That I haven't seen Game of Thrones, you mean? Well I don't get cable, I refuse to pay extra for it when OTA has everything I already want to watch. :p

I really enjoyed this. It was a little cheesy, with some themes and mechanics from 80s movies, and very heavy on exposition, especially during the first half, but the movie, as a coming of age action film that we usually get from these book adaptations, was highly entertaining, the performances by young actors was great, the action and tension of the film was really really high, I was on edge everytime they were in the maze. Great score.

I'm still going to eventually see it. That's nice that it is successful. 32.5mil is a good opening for September and for a film that cost 30-35mil to make.

Fox's marketing was smart, they didn't lean too heavily on it being a best seller unlike other failed 2nd tier YA adaptations. They mostly marketed like any old genre film. They also didn't over spend budget wise and pretend that the film was going to bring in a bigger audience than what it was going to. Not every film can sustain an 80-100million dollar budget.

It was an entertaining film with some good actors in it. I hope that it will help Thomas Sangsters' career.
I can't stop wondering what it would have been like if Hardwicke actually directed this :whatever:

Asr: Your spoiler tag gives me the impression that you expected somewhat of a [BLACKOUT]high tech The Village[/BLACKOUT]. Am I right?

Sangster is living off that Phineas and Ferb money.

I dont understand why Fox would give this such a short production schedule. Fine, give it quick schedule for Paper Towns but for this? When are they are going to start the shoot?

Sounds like the director already had planned most of the sequel when shooting the first film. I mean, the book is written so they don't have to worry about coming up with a story for a sequel. They did it for Hunger Games and Harry Potter as well coming out just a year later.

I'm glad to see that this is doing well! The trailers are really intriguing! I expected worse like when it comes to Rotten Tomatoes rating.

My money is a little short at the moment so I would just be waiting for it to come out on DVD.

They want to take advantage while the iron's hot. The Reddit Q&A with Wes Ball mentioned that not only are they building sets, but he also said that "Dylan [O'Brien] was coming in a few weeks." It seems they are going to start filming by the end of the year, if not earlier.

I don't hear people complaining about the accelerated schedule for Insurgent and then Allegiant: Part 1 and Allegiant: Part 2 if those get the green light.

Yeah, I guess that parallel fits as to what I expected.
