MCU Doctor Doom

Doom and Reed should be about in their late 30s-early 40s. That's pretty much what we need to be shooting for age wise. Ben is about Reed's age or maybe a year or two older, Johnny is a teen and Sue is in her late 20s.

As I've said before, I don't think age matters too much when it comes to Doom. He already went through the big Kaboom in college and mussed up his pretty face. Of course, it depends on what they want to do with the character. I could see them taking a Darth Vader approach. If so, does it really matter if he's 10 or 15 years older?

It depends on if Marvel wants a full performance out of the actor. If Doom will be reduced to a voice only, then age won't matter. But if they want a character performance, then he'll need to be Reed's age.

Maybe going for an unknown actor of Romani descent who is 35-43 solves those issues

It's not an either or. I don't think age matters much because his face is kinda frelled up. I think they should show his face at times, but I'm thinking, at least at first, more for dramatic effect. I doubt Doom will be running around out of costume for that much of the time. As was mentioned earlier, the point is first and foremost to make a good movie. If an unknown makes the movie better, fine, but casting an unknown for the sake of being unknown doesn't strike me as a great idea. Ditto for going after someone because they are from a particular country.

Regardless of age, I really don't see Bardem as Doom.

Frankly, I agree. My main point was I think we have a little more leeway when casting Doom with regard to age.

What about someone like Zachary Quinto? He may not have the level of prestige as other choices I’ve seen, but he’s a fine actor and has a commanding voice. No stranger to big franchise film making too

They need to lock him in the mask, or maybe heat it up before he tries it on for some real method acting! Then he'll want to keep the mask on all the time!

And Tobey before him and Holland after...

The track record for this stuff isn't great in movies in general.

And especially if Doom gets played by some kind of actor with the kind of cachet that they want to capitalize on... I would expect us seeing Doom's face a lot, or at least way more than traditionalist comic book fans would like.

Bane in TDKR is the golden standard for mask useage. Since Doom’s a villain like Bane was, I would hope the potential director has the good sense to enforce the mask being on for 90% of the film.

The thing about this is that we really won't get a sense of this until the first tease of Doom in marketing/trailers.

Cuz you know the PR will be blowing smoke up the fans' asses for months and months about whether we see a bunch of Victor's face or not. Then we'll get set photos and we'll all tear into one another claiming these images prove whatever our own predictions are... Lather, rinse and repeat until release.


Frankly, even with all their success I am not sure how Feige and Co. will handle Doom or if they even realize what an epic, powerhouse and riveting potential of a character they have in Doom.

I for one don't JUST want a vaguely Euro accent and bombastic scenery chewing with nothing else underneath. (Ala Hela...) I don't want some attempt at some kind chancy, radical reinterpretation. (Ala the Mandarin...) I don't want a merely perfunctory antagonist there isn't much to beyond the surface.(Pick whichever MCU baddie fits this description... THERE'S A LOT OF THEM Marvelites...)

They need to put the kind of work and thinking they did for Thanos and realize Doom HAS to be on that level as a character, even if unlike Thanos, he's not the build up focal point for whatever is the next mega arc.

They should be approaching the character in terms of casting and writing with the same amount of reverence and awe they’ve shown towards Tony Stark and Steve Rogers.

I mean, ...there’s an honest to goodness argument to be made that Dr Doom is a more significant character within the marvel IP than most of the heroes we’ve seen given films in the MCU. This is a lot more like casting for the long haul. And he has to have the presence and charisma to stand out while besides the murderer row of performers Marvel has now.

I'll give whats his face in the tim story movies credit he wore the hell out of that mask especially in the 2nd movie.
