MCU Loki v Fox Magneto: who is the better character ?

  • Make mine Magneto

  • I'm ga-ga for the God of Mischief (Loki)

  • They're both equally good

  • I don't care much for either of them

Interestingly these two characters Loki and Magneto shift between the roles of
nemesis and friend to the hero characters of their franchises ( Thor and X-Men).

As often as we see them in villain roles, or at least pursuing their own agendas, we see them fighting side by side with the heroes against a common, usually greater foe.

Both characters have been ably played by top-drawer British (and Irish) actors and it seems that they are absolutely essential to their franchises ( can't make a Thor film without Loki or an X-Men film without Magneto).

Whom do you prefer, and why ?

I liked Magneto with Ian McKellen playing the role. But after Michael Fassbender took the role, it just seemed that the character has already overstayed and just took away the focus from other characters.

I like both Loki and Magneto equally because they were both portrayed very well in their respective films. Magneto and Loki were both fleshed out masterfully as characters, and their motivations and personalities were illustrated nicely. They both felt layered and nuanced as villains and as characters in general. Also, the actors portraying them were excellent, and their costume designs were nice-looking and appropriately regal. Overall, Magneto and Loki are two prime examples of successful film adaptations of comic book villains.

Loki. Magneto is dragged down too much by being in quite a few dubious movies where his writing is iffy at best. Personal charisma can only make up for so much.

Magneto's character got to evolve since the "pretty much just a Nazi" yet occasionally sympathetic days of the Original Trilogy. He's battled his villains, befriended his political enemy, established more bonds and very much became the anti-villain to dwarf Loki's used to be an interesting character and relying on the actors' charisma to get by.

I said they are both as good. And this is coming from someone with Magneto's helmet tattooed on my arm.

Ian McKellen's Magneto by a country mile.

Actually when I think back, they're both pretty equal in terms of a likable performance. \
