So, we finally have Phase III all set-uo, but let's keep ignoring the present and focus on the more distant future, what are your expectations for Phase IV?

I trust that Infinity War will mark the end of the Thanos storyline, what threat awaits the MCU next? For the films that open this new era in the franchise i vote for Iron Man 4 and a new Hulk movie, sort of like a paralel to 2008, when Iron Man 1 and TIH started this whole engine.

As for the event closer threat, these are some of my candidates:

1. Kang

He's one of the primary Avengers villains, considering we've going through Ultron and Thanos, i think he has high chances of being the next best foe for the heroes.

Maybe he could be foreshadowed through Phase IV, building up his power.

2. World War Hulk

One of the Phase starter films could be something like Planet Hulk, then by the end of the Phase he comes back to earth in order to get his revenge on the MCU's Illuminati.

3. Skrulls

We don't know if Marvel Studios own their rights, or if Fox still has them, but they're powerful enough to serve as a good challenge, even in a post-Thano world.

4. The Liberators

Ultimates_Liberators.jpg

This may be a more difficult suggestion but it's possible, some time ago it was mentioned that The Avengers would take some inspiration from The Ultimates, so why wouldn't another one of the Avengers films take inspiration from The Ultimates 2? The Liberators wouldn't have to consist of the same members, in fact, they kind of seemed more like a modern version of the Masters of Evil.
The idea could be interesting to have on film, as an answer to the USA using super people various nations decided to create their oun team and launch an attack on the USA

5. Return of an old enemy

Someone like Ultron may return, more powerful than before, could form an interesting intergalactic challenge, in an universe still recovering from Thanos, now having to deal with this robot multiplying like a virus.

Chthon. Chthon was once known as the other and I like to think that he is actually The Other who hangs out with Thanos
even though he seems to be killed in Guardians of the Galaxy
Maybe he's just playing possum. It would be cool for Alexis Denisof to get a bigger meatier role in the MCU. He has history with the Maximoffs and they are being introduced. And he created vampires in the Marvel U. Dr. Strange could be used as a platform for that using the Darkhold story.

1. Kang

All of the above. I think Kang should arc over Phase 4-6 the way Thanos has in Phases I-III. I think the Skrull-Kree War can make for a great phase or so, as can World War Hulk.

Possible:
1. Iron Man 4

Maybe:
1. Marvel gets back Spider-Man from Sony's hands

Out of the main Avengers, it's hard to tell at this point which characters/actors will still be around for Phase IV. Another Hulk movie should be on the agenda for Marvel. I don't know about Iron Man/Thor/Cap 4, though.

The surest bet for Phase IV is Guardians of the Galaxy 3.

We'll probably also end up seeing Dr. Strange 2, Ant-Man 2 and Black Panther 2, depending on the success of their first films.

Spidey will be there, one way or another. No sure what story he will break into first. My bet is they won't start him off in his own film. If Sony's S6 falls through, you could see an event movie featuring Spidey and Amazing Friends vs S6 in PIV, with established MCU characters like DD and other Netflix heroes.

Let us not get our hopes to high.
Even if marvel have plans to 2021 to 2028 most of the rest of the mcu could be netflix or normal tv shows.

DC is focusing more on tv and marvel may do the same and if so i have no problem with it.

If fantastic four fails and marvel gets the rights back people like Dr. Doom or even Galactus would be interesting.

Hell the red skull could come back in this universe as well.

Cloak and Dagger, Blade, Ghost Rider, Hercules, Runaways, Eternals, Titans, Nova and if they can Namor and Captain Britain.

Chuck in a few sequels, Avenger films etc... and that should take us to 2030.

honestly, I'm out of ideas for new franchises. I guess Marvel Comics now has to make a couple of D or E listers to B or C listers over the next few years to make new franchises for Marvel Studios possible. And thats a good thing, because it means better writers for underdeveloped characters and creative story arcs

I'm not suggesting they should get rid of the current characters altogether, but if I was Feige I'd make legacy a huge prevailing theme for the next few phases.

By then superheroes would have existed for a while in the MCU, with most of the bigshots established. It would be the perfect time to introduce some younger characters and see where they stand in the new status quo compared with the adult veteran characters. Potential options could be Young Avengers, Miss Marvel (Kamala Khan), Runaways or even Spider-Man (if the rights revert by then). Even someone like Bucky or Sam taking over the Cap mantle would still be in line with the legacy theme.

Kang is a must, at least for one Avengers film. If the FF rights revert, Doom is also a must.

A Midnight Sons movie with characters like Doctor Strange, Ghost Rider, Blade, Jennifer Kale, Werewolf By Night, Damian Hellstorm and Elsa Bloodstone would be great.

Secret Invasion or Dark Reign (just replace Osborn with Zemo or something) are very possible.

I really want to see Marvel's take on a young Spider-man in a post-Thanos world, I really hope we get to see it.

1. I really like how they handled Phases1-3. Basically, you have the Mega-event of each Phase, but in the background a SUPER MEGA-event is building. That served to make Thanos seem like a MAJOR threat.

2. I do not like Kang. Never have. I can't stand time travel in ongoing stories.

3. I trust whatever Marvel has planned.

man Phase 4 is so far away i dont want to think about it. I'll be 30 when it starts, probably married with a kid on the way..lol.

But for real i think Kang is the way to go. Along with a secret invasion inspired storyline

Once Phase IV starts Marvel Studios will have 20 films, all the storylines will start to get complicated for new viewers.

I'm sure they'll manage. It's not like they wouldn't be able to download them or buy them on DVD.

Do you really need to watch all the other films in order to watch Guardians?

Recast the big three (Cap, IM, Thor) without rebooting.

Movies: Mighty Avengers (plus solo movies), Inhumans sequels, The Defenders (plus solo movies), Runaways, etc

Do they need to recast? Evans and Hemsworth are both very young. Downey is a bloke in a helmet. he doesn't really need to do many stunts.

If they give the main 3 a break for a few years, I'm sure they could arrange to bring them back for more. As long as the stories are good.

Evans and Downey have been looking for an exit lately.

We'll be lucky to keep both of them until Infinity War 2.

We could maybe still have Hemsworth for Phase 4, but he may start to feel the fatigue too by the end of Phase 3, and instead of struggling to keep him throughout Phase 4, let him go and recast Thor as well to hopefully avoid drama.

Whatever happens in Infinity War, Phase 4 is definitely going to mark a new era for the MCU, so it's the perfect opportunity to recast without too much backlash.

What I'm really hoping is that they somehow keep Ruffalo until Phase 5 at least. At least get him to lead a solo Hulk movie (at long last), and then see where things go from there. No idea how old he is now, but he's sort of right up there with RDJ last I heard.

Don't get me wrong, I love Downey (he basically IS Tony), Evans and Hemsworth. They're all great in their roles. But you have to be real about this sort of thing. They're going to have to recast the big three sooner or later.

Cap and Thor will skip a phase after their 3rd respective solo outings so no solo movies for them in Phase 4, though in place of a Captain America movie, I wouldn't be surprised to see a Bucky-led "Secret Avengers" in there somewhere.

That said, Hulk is way overdue another solo movie and Iron Man has just skipped a phase so I'd put "The Incredible Hulk 2" and "Iron Man 4" in there somewhere, along with sequels to two other properties introduced in Phase 3 ..... Maybe Doctor Strange and Captain Marvel?

So let's say...
Iron Man 4
The Incredible Hulk 2

...and two from...
Guardians Of The Galaxy 3
Doctor Strange 2
Captain Marvel 2

...So let's say maybe one movie after A:IWpt2 in 2019, three in 2020, three in 2021 and then an ensemble movie in May 2022, which I'm guessing could potentially be "Secret Wars" in light of the new event ;)

So throw another three new properties in there ....... Hercules in place of a Thor Movie maybe ..... or someone like Adam Warlock/Infinity Watc if they don't do a GOTG 3....

...and then of course if they DO sort out a crossover deal with Sony, there's always potential for a Osborn led Thunderbolts to feature in the MCU and Flash Thompson working for SHIELD as Agent Venom ....

Anything could happen ........ but it probably won't :p

Here's an idea: Don't recast them, but instead, have them pass down their mantles. Give the red, white, and blue shield to Sam Wilson, give that Hammer to the mysterious new chick in the comics, and maybe let Rhodey or Pepper take the forefront of the Iron Family. If Cheadle and Paltrow don't want to, then we'll cross that bridge when we get there.

These are comic book movies... HAVE SOME FUN! Be creative with the writing, and find a way to allow it to make sense.

Iron Man and Hulk movies in 2020. Black Widow getting her own spin-off. Ghost Rider getting his own film.

I also want to see Avengers 4 have two different teams handling two different threats. One team would handle Namor who would join the Avengers by the end of the film. The other team would fight Kang with Kang actually taking over the world and the Avengers have to liberate it. If I had to choose between the two, Kang all the way.

Also, TV shows for Runaways, She-Hulk, Blade, Moon Knight and Punisher are a must! If the latter two can get Netflix series before the end of Phase 3, even better.
