Homecoming MCU Spider-Man Spider-Sense

So he sees nothing but a bunch of Campbell's soup cans??

Exactly.

But no, I'd like a sense distortion effect. Somethin hallucinatory. Some people experience synesthesia, where their different senses bleed into each other. They experience moments of tasting colour, seeing sound things like that.

From Spider-man's perspective at the moment the spider sense goes off, he gets a tingling sensation which he slowly learns to interpret as an alarm/compass, but he could also experience a synesthesia type effect, and that's something that could be represented on screen.

There is plently of cool ways they can do it. And I do hope they display the power better then past series did. And actually use the power. As the others barely tapped into it.

Ant-man had that after-image effect to the shrinking scenes. It was pretty much just a stylistic choice. I think they can just do the classic waves in the same vein. It's the best and most iconic way to do it imo.

Here's a thought: when his spider sense goes off, the source of the danger is shown on screen as suddenly getting hyper-vivid. The colors become brighter on whatever is the source, while any associated sound becomes emphasized with everything else fading out. It needn't be something shown all the time, but it might be a good way to portray what it feels like to Peter, in terms of a great big sensory "Notice This!"

The spider-sense never tells him what the danger is, only that there is danger incoming. This is the reason why i dislike the train track shot in SM2, where it showed him the train track unfinished. Also, the spider-sense in SM1; why would MJ slipping and dropping her tray trigger it?

The spider-sense, as i have understood it, is only triggered when there is danger to Peter himself.

I like the idea however this version of Spider-Man is skipping the origin story. In Raimi's version, for example, we got to see that progression of him learning what his Spider-sense is and what it does, i.e. just before the hallway fight with Flash. But since this new Spidey will have been Spider-Man for, I don't know, maybe a couple of months, we won't see that learning phase really.

I definitely want them to give us some sort of visual representation of his spidey-sense and I'd also like to have that internal monologue going as well. *grabs his head as if it hurts* "Ugh why am I getting the tingles at school?" Then he dodges just as something is tossed his way from another student. I dunno. A simple flash of a spider-sense icon around his head and his recognition of something coming and then he spots the threat and avoids it. That works too. I don't think it needs to be so over blown visually either like what we see in the 90's series cartoon for example.

Yeah, that works.

Raimi's was more like an acute awareness to his surroundings rather than a pre-cognitive danger alert.

But his spider-sense did give him an acute awareness of his surroundings in the comics. He would even use it to locate his spider-tracers. It does seem to feed him basic information about his surroundings, but for what ever reason it only activates in the presence of danger (fear response? adrenaline?) or when he is in deep concentration. A few times he was able to concentrate and use his spider-sense for blind navigation, kind of like Luke Skywalker with the force.

Also, vulture was able to broadcast a signal that only Spider-man could detect (which seemed to be related to his spider sense).

I would love if they have his powers develop more over tine sorts like as much as I didn't like the other storyline but have him be able to sense things more and focus on that and what not. Be cool for them to play into thst. Yes not directly showing what is problem but making it more second nature for him.

I agree! Make him an amateur that makes mistakes. Have being Spider-Man takes its toll on him. Perhaps he tries saving a group of people and not everyone makes it. Internal conflict for Peter, even with these powers he's still not able to save everyone. On the flip side, a lot more people would have died had he not done anything at all. Stuff like that.

Ya there is many ways they can go. And I am curious to see what marvel does.

I hope they don't make it an after thought.

I am sure they wont. With how well kevin gets the character. I am sure character and display of powers will be done right.

Absolutely. His spider-sense has definitely had varying results throughout his many iterations. In some cases it was only when something was being directed at him, i.e. and incoming punch, other times it alerted him to significant danger, i.e. the Lizard attacking the bridge and from SM2 the end of the train tracks. And like you say, there's even been times where he uses his spider-sense for tracking and times where he'd cover his eyes and use the spider-sense to either avoid danger or tracking.

I'm curious to see how they implement this in the new films. I'd like to see some sort of combination of all the above mentioned items and maybe even show him learn to control his spider-sense as he develops his skills over the course of several years/movies.

I'd prefer a sense of danger and where it's coming from, but not much else.

Well again we start with that. And over the yrs see he can do more with his powers. Like he gets stronger when older and stuff like that. Like how the comics they have had him use the power when blinded or it changes over time like in the other and he can sense things more.
