MCU X-Men

I don't know about even, but if they were to do the O5, for instance, I'd want expect Tessa, Candy Southern, Val Cooper and Moira McTaggert are all main cast.

As X-Men, heck no!

I wouldn't mind Sage joining the team, but she should be saved for a sequel not the first film's..

Sage will join when the thyme is right.

Not as X-Men, though Sage would be virtually an X-Man, by virtue of her abilities. Again, this is only if they go the O5 route and Storm, Psylocke, Rogue, etc would not be appropriate, Sage would.

A lot of Mutants are trouble makers I doubt the government could keep them hidden all this time.

If the government(s) in question have people like Xavier helping them keep a lid on things, it gets easier.

Magneto - "I publically destroyed a bridge in Seattle, and the news has some crap about 'galloping Gertie' and resonance harmonics! All the eyewitnesses claim not to have seen me up there in my bright red and purple outfit, telling them that Tacoma was going to be the center of my new mutant homeland! It's all 'oh, there was a strong wind, and it just shook itself apart!' What the hell, Charles?"

Xavier - "Honesty, Erik. They pay me a lot of money, and all *my* mutants get to live in peace. You'll never start a movement when nobody can remember that you exist unless I allow it..."

Stryker - "I just had a movement of people willing to hate and destroy any and all mutants just this morning."

Xavier - "Honestly, Reverend, no one even had to pay me to end your "church" so that my mutants can live in peace. You'll never start a movement unless I allow it...."

If Xavier has the power to make mutants not a problem, then he has the power to prevent any plot of any X-Men movie.

My feeling on it is that it would be similar to the first season of X-Men Evolution. Mutants are a secret underground thing and then it all explodes publicly.

Yeah exactly. It’s pretty simple

I recently went back and watched X-Men Evolution s1 and 2 and wasn’t impressed as I remembered

X-Men TAS is the gold standard for animated X-Men

I need to rewatch all of TAS.

I think a cool X-Men movie that could introduce the X-Men into the MCU is one that combines Giant Size #1 with Uncanny X-Men #125 to #128, where a new X-Men team is formed to stop Mutant X (Kevin MacTaggert) after he breaks out of Muir Island.

But I was referring to having even numbers for the roster of the X-Men. So that automatically meant that it won't be the original five.

As long as some core characters feature there are many lineups that would be cool with me for the first film. They can always then gradually add in the other big characters that don't feature in successive films and I'm hoping that after 3 or films (plus any intervening spinoffs) we will have a good amount of history and potential interactions for most of the main X-Men characters.

A big reason MCU is successful is they have best stunt coordinators and actors in their movies. X-MEN with proper stunts is going to be sweet

Yes, I hope we see evidence of that right from the first film.

I have a feeling when this thing finally gets rebooted it will be subtitled Children of the Atom.

It’s a shame First Class is already taken. That would have been a great reboot title for the MCU.

I want to see a bad ass Rogue! And Psylocke as one of the good gals!

The MCU Rogue needs to have all the powers we associate with badass Rogue.

Yeah well, marvel does love their cameos. I suppose it would be easy to include Carol especially if she's a hit. She probably won't wipe Carol's powers though for reasons that should be obvious

I said the exact same thing in the X-Men thread. If Feige does reboot and recast mutants could have been a top government secret, they have fought in wars (hence Wolverine, Sabretooth, Omega Red backstories) and been experimented on. The public has heard of humans with extraordinary powers but thought of them as a myth like big foot, or Santa LOL. This could explain their absence in the MCU.

Magneto and Xavier have been secretly building the school and after seeing the events of Infinity War, Eric feels as if mutants should come out and be proud since they now live in a world of iron men, Spider-Man, super soldiers, etc and how society has accepted them. Charles on the other hand disagrees and feels as if the public isn’t ready to embrace humans with an X gene, fearing that humanity isn’t ready to accept those who are different and he doesn’t want an holocaust to happen. Erik disagrees and they part ways.

Now i recently read Ultimate X-Men vol 1 the Tomorrow People and that can be translated into a movie. Since their split they both have recruited members for their teams, Eric has been active letting the world know mutants exist, which has lead to mutants rampaging on streets, acts of terrorism, some live in fear of mutants, which has caused Xavier to form the X-Men but his goal was never to have them fighting but be leaders of peace. The government has since used alien technology (from Avengers 1) to create the sentinels. Magneto grows tiresome of the government and unleashes a full scale assualt in DC to kill the president and let homo superior take their place.

Or they could use Marvels Uncanny X-Men as the title

I think a team of six is good: Cyclops, Marvel Girl, Beast, Storm, Iceman,
Any of these characters for the 6th spot: Colossus, Psylocke or Gambit

Sequels: Rogue, Angel, Nightcrawler, Jubilee, Kitty

Brotherhood of Evil Mutants: Magneto, Pyro, Toad, Blob, Avalanche, Wolverine (as a double agent) Polaris

Right. I used that as a jumping off point to talk about gender representation in an alternate scenario. My comments make absolutely no sense outside of the "If they decide to go the O5 route..." premise I started them with.

I think one of the mistakes of X1 was trying to include the Brotherhood. It bloats your character count and underlines the idea of mutants being plentiful and disposably so. Stick with developing your X-Men and use a singular villain, perhaps with some mooks to knockabout.

That's a smart move. Centering the X-Men around a rescue mission to Muir Island or Krakoa is a really smart move.

That would sound like a decent setup for the first few films for me.

Yeah but you need something or someone that is opposite of Xavier’s dream and oppose the X-Men and the Brotherhood is a constant thorn in their side. The one thing about villains is that they are minor characters to Magneto’s cause so they don’t need much development. Just a line or two as to why they chose to follow him.
I definitely agree that the X-Men need more development if anything

Yeah but movie villains aren't constant thorns, they're one and done. Loki is the exception, but that requires development, which, as you said, can't work with the brotherhood. So you have this group of villains designed to be constant thorns that aren't. We don't learn enough about any of them to care if they win or lose. All the while we'd much more appreciate one or two lines about supporting/jr x-men , but we're busy pretending people care about avalanche. I suggest cutting the bhood and finding a more efficient counterpoint.
