Some of the high points:
- Josh Brolin as Agent K: He was spot on, I enjoyed watching his performance. It was like half of the budget was spent on de-aging Tommy Lee Jones to play his younger self! But seriously, Brolin was great.
- The interactions between K and J: It was refreshing to see more development to their relationship. It felt like a real step forward from what we have seen before.
- Griffin the alien: I liked his character more than I should have. He gave some gravity to the situation and added to the heart of the movie. I specially dug his speech at the baseball stadium.
- The ending: It was touching like all of you said. It kinda bringed things to full circle. Having young agent K softening the hit of the death J's father and walking him to the beach was really sweet.
Some low points:
- I thought the pace of the movie was uneven. At the beginning it was a little slower than I expected. And the part at the fashion parade lasted forever. I'm don't know a lot about art or Andy Warhol, but I didn't get it most of that scene, I guess it wasn't my cup of tea. And the ending happened a little too quick. I wish they would have introduced us to J's father a little earlier so we could care more for his character.
- The time travel: Maybe some of you guys could help me to understand this part. If Boris killed K in the past, shouldn't J be still working as a cop of some sorts in the present. I thought the "chocolate headaches" was a nice touch, but it was only an effect of the time rift.
It didn't explain why he wasn't affected at all. I mean, in Justice League "The Savage Time" they got away with that because most of the team was inside Green Lantern's sphere, so they went unaffected by the changed time. It was a nice "patching". But in MIB 3 I don't recall justifying this. Maybe the MIB recruited J later, but it would be nice a little explanation of this. Also the reason why J remembered K wasn't fully answered. Still it could have been because the two were closely bonded, but that's just me assuming something.
Another thing that bugged me. In the scene when J travels back in time after he's been hit by Boris with his needles along with him...why isn't there a time duplicate of J? And where did Boris went? It felt like a "rewind" time travel, because J took his place before being hit with the needles. But the way the time jump machine worked didn't seemed to support this, since by traveling back in time, Boris met his past self, as J saw himself as a child, not taking his place like in the aforementioned scene.
Maybe someone could clarify that for me.
- And just a few nitpicks: Why in the MIB headquarters of the 60's they have this giant Neuralizer and then in the space shuttle scene young K had this (hilarious by the way) modem neuralizer. It just seemed weird to have to distinct devices that served for the same purpose, but one more practical than another, and not using the best one at first.
- Also, why does young K ask J if he has a girlfriend on the future. I thought the catch of being an MIB agent was that he would have to severe his ties to the world. Not that J and K had not had their own respective girlfriends and all.
But now I'm just nitpicking to much.
