Metroid Prime 3: Corruption Thread of HYPE

1up did a preview of Corruption...and it was the lamest fanboyist preview I've ever read.

This was the basic premise: "Well, we played Metroid Prime 3:Corruption. It's fun...but it's no Halo 3. Why can't it be Halo 3. It's not Bioshock either, niether is it Heavenly Sword. I wish it were these other games, then it would rock. The controls have a learning curve to them. Halo 3 is teh kools!"

I hate 1up...very rarely do I agree with their takes on things. They are very anti Nintendo, and I don't know why. Most of the preview hardly talked about Metroid Prime 3 and just compared it to other franchises that had nothing to do with Metroid.:whatever:

1UP is incredibly hit or miss when it comes to reviews because they have so many people of incredibly polarized tastes... Though Shane is a big nintendo and Metroid fan, he doesn't like Halo. Still though, while it's a fair comment to say that the cutscenes aren't as ornately designed as say Heavenly Sword.

Prime, and Metroid itself, has never been about creating movie quality cutscenes, and it gets by just fine because of how awesome it is in every other respect. So bringing that up against the game, while not an unfair comment, seems to be grasping for something to detract from Prime 3. The ship controls seem like a valid complaint though, but whatever works for the atmosphere.

Maybe, him being a hardcore gamer, he's more jaded then your average person when it comes to 3D. I know Metroid Prime 3 looks beautiful to me, and I don't especially care that it doesn't have 1024x1024 parallax mapped texture surfaces.

When's this game coming out? I keep reading either the 27th or the 28th, which is it?

Cool, I'd made a big Smaus aran picture thread out of the "Samus versus Mater Chief" thread in misc multiplatform, if it's ressurected might we stick your peice there. :p

1up gave MP3 a 9/10 and IGN gave it a 9.5/10. Awesome reviews so far.

Looks like Game Trailers gave MP3 a 9.6/10.

It looks like we have two games sparring for GOTY.

Metroid Prime 3 and Bioshock.:woot:

i bought metroid prime when it first came out; wasnt able to beat it

got echoes around 3 years ago for christmas; didnt get as far as prime i dont think.

I REALLY wanna get corruption, but i dont think its worth my money if i honestly dont think ill take the time to beat it.

like someone else said before: those games are frustrating

It's only frustrating for those who think they are going into another generic shooter fest FPS.

Almost everyone I know that couldn't stand the MP games was because of the searching backtracking and not enough action.

That is what Metroid has been since the beginning. It's not another run and gun FPS, it's a atmospheric search and discover FPA. And they are some of the best experiences one can have on any system. :D

no, i honestly love doing that stuff, its mostly getting through certain enemy infested areas and bosses

The Metriod Prime games have all been easy to beat. Its all about backtracking. And all the bosses have a certain pattern so you can beat them. And the battles are always intense. I loved the battle with dark Samus in the last game....my figures were so tired after that fight.

If your frustrated, look at the hints. You don't have to fight every single enemy, sometimes during Mp1 and Mp2, I said "**** it" and just headed for the door. The only times you have to fight are when the exit is closed and you need to kill every enemy to open it.

Don't even think of playing 2 or 3 without finishing 1, 2 is the hardest, and I'm hearing they reduced the difficulty for 3.

According to the reviews, the whole hyper mode concept, while cool, makes certain enemies a breeze and can become a crutch to lean on when the chips are down.

I personally am going to try and get through the game without using it even once. I don't want the game to be too easy, so I'm going to avoid it.

ZOMG! I got it! XD
I'm about to pop it in and play it!
