MGS4 PS3 bundle officially $400?

Well if you haven't played all of the previous Metal Gear games in the series I can completely understand how a person would be lost or not even care about the storyline. You really have to play the Metal Gear games before you play MGS4 it really is as simple as that.

i was talking about uncharted.

for the record, I love mgs and have stated my support to keep the mgs4 bundle in favor of scrapping the uncharted bundle

The Uncharted Bundle seems like the flagship bundle they'll be trotting out for a few months.

I imagine the 160 GB is a major selling point they're hoping will get it across to people.

Uncharted=more fun than MGS4.

At least as far as the average consumer goes. Myself included.

Certainly not for kids.

Infact, the Gunmetal Gray PS3 has to really be aimed towards only the diehard fanbase.

The ones with cash, that is.

Hey man, I'm not sure where your from, but do you have "Costco"?

In June right after MGS4 came out, Costco had an amazing deal. I got:

The MGS4 80 GB Bundle
An extra PS3 controller
Sony PS3 HDMI cable

All for $550 (Canadian). Which is basically a ****ing steal.

So when Black Friday rolls around, don't forget to check out places like "Costco" or "Sam's Club". You could save a ton of money and get some really decent combo deals.

Yeah, I think there's a Costco within driving distance. I'll look into it to see what I find.

Hmmm, any good prices or a certain brand that's worth the dough?

Or do the compodent cables, which I'm thinking are the color coded HD cables and the HDMI do the same thing?
dont even bother with the component. HDMI is better. For PS3 ganes, you'll get the same quality but you can only upscale DVDs with the HDMI. I believe the same is also the case for PS1 games

Hmmm. Good to know. I'll try and hunt down some cheap HDMI cable prices. Does it have to be specific for the PS3 or just any HDMI cable will do the trick?

Yeah you can get any cable you want at Monoprice.com for less than $10.

I was looking at ebworld.com, I notice they have the 160GB model. It said its not BC. Has Sony given up on BC for future PS3 models?

Yes. The 80gb MGS4 bundle was the last to support it

Ahh... **** me, I was hoping to pick up a PS3 with BC. Sony seriously expect ppl to buy the PS2? **** them.

Who the hell makes these decisions for Sony are they even thinking BC = More Sales More Sales = MONEYYYYYYY!!!

Actually yes. You do realize hat the PS2 continues to sell fairly well? For a system 8 years old and from last gen, it still manages to generate money. The fact is people are still buying the PS2 and Sony for one couldnt be happier

I dont really think it matters much in the long run. If you are buying the PS3 to play PS2 games, then you are wasting your money. People that buy the system for gaming, will mainly be using it for PS3 games. If PS2 is the priority then they'd stick with the PS2 they already have or get a new one.

but at the same time its frustrating to have to sacrifice self space because a company is too cheap to include BC for 2 of the most successful systems in VG history in the system that is in last place for its generation.

I bought a PS3 for MGS4 and Bluray and traded my PS2 in because I got the BC PS3 bundle (80? I don't even know). I always swore if Bluray players got super cheap I would trade in the PS3 as I don't have the time right now to play MGS4 and Resistance. At the same time, I don't want to be left behind for Sony's potentially big future, if it ever happens.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels this way which is why people are making a big deal about BC. They aren't buying the new to play the old, but they simply don't have the room to put all these systems when they should only have the new one that future proofs them.

The main reason I bought my used 80 GB machine from Gamestop was becsue of it's BC. I still had a number of PS2 games I wanted to play, and I suspect there's more than a few like me who want the same. As long as they continue to make decent games for the PS2, I will want to play them. Having a PS3 with BC gives me the best of both worlds, without having two machines. The other thing is, the library of good PS2 titles is a lot larger, and it gives me much more choice while I'm waiting for the PS3 to build up it's library to a decent level.

I get the importance of having a PS3 with BC. For me, Im more interested in the system's ability to upscale the games bc it makes them look decent on HDTVs. I think everyone would love it if the PS3 had full BC with PS2 games. The thing is, Sony started phasing it out last year. They completely dropped it from Europe and Japan and I was surprised that they kept it in North America for as long as they did, but they dropped it over the summer. All these new complaints are nothing new as its stuff thats already been said over the past year. Sony knows this. The fact is, PS3 sales have soared since they started taking out the PS2 BC. If you look at the numbers for each month since last Nov, you will see that the PS3 has been doing much better each month during that time frame than it did prior. The decision to remove PS2 BC has not had a major impact on sales. The amount of people that wont buy a PS3 bc of it isnt significant enough to make a difference as seen by the numbers coming in

Personally, it's not that big a deal to me. I still own my PS2, and won't give it up for anything in the world.

Even with my 360, I still own the original Xbox system too. I've actually got it sitting next to my 360.

The only reason I was interested in the bc for Xbox was b/c of some of the downloadable content I had missed out on, like some new levels for Splinter Cell.

I do get the big deal with bc, nontheless. It saves space, and less of a hassle. But far from a dealbreaker for me.

And I honestly can't blame Sony for it. The PS2 still produces videogames. And it's still selling. From a bussiness standpoint, it's a good plan. Yeah, greedy...but that's business for ya.

Sony should just give up, I mean it is useless for them to compete when they make stupid decisions.

They've been doing better lately, though.

Thanks to the games, I think. That's what used to make them the best. The exclusives...which is something that's practically dead in videogames nowadays anyway.

Btw...I just looked at the new Best Buy flyer. I had no idea that the Uncharted bundle already went on sale. I thought it was going to be out in the market starting after Thanksgiving...but it looks like it's already for sale at Best Buy.

I was wondering on the space most games take up, lately.

I looked up a Install Index online, listing a couple games and they're install sizes and if it's required or optional.

I was just wondering if the Installs are all the space needed to save or if it's just tacked on with whatever in-game saves or option-menu/ player profile saves you might have for any game.

For example, MGS4's install space, or so I read, is 4.0 GB...along with an extra 1.1 GB for Metal Gear Online. I'm imagining that's not the only space MGS4 will take up, along with 2 or maybe 3 save files (I usually go with that much on stealth games).

Am I right? Or am I overshooting the sizes that games take up? What's the Install for, anyway? I've only now heard of it in terms of how it quickens loading time and stuff.
