Wait, is that the Region 2 cover? I'm seeing an uglier one everywhere I look.

I dunno, is the unrated dvd going to have both versions? I'm not if the review said so. But, it'd be better that way.....atleast for my wallet.

I'm with that review though....I think Vice got a bum rap.

And, it's got commentary with Mann. That should be awesome.

Just bought Miami Vice today,no directors cut here:cmad::csad: so could someone give me quick bullet points of what scenes are added please :)

The only thing added is the boat race and more scenes in cuba with farell and li.

Didn't the Neptunes stuff get added? I heard there was a confusion on the running time or something....

No review of the directors cut has mentioned anything about the neptune subplot. Just the boat race, more romance scenes(sigh),the order of some of the scenes has been changed, and mann probably added more exterior shots of miami.

What's the Neptunes stuff?

I think Neptunes was the guy we saw in the beginning of the movie, the case Crockett and Tubbs were working on before being "drafted" into the overseas case.

Saw the DVD itself in person today. Came in. It looks a little better when its in your hands, but still could have been better artwork. God I wish I could have bought it!

Oh, okay. I wonder, is the DC Edition the only one coming? I just saw a commercial for it, not even a mention of theatrical version.

We got in a Director's Cut and then another version, which I am pretty sure is the theatrical version. I'll take a closer look later.

Shame they can't be on the same disc. The technology is there with seemless branching. I guess they just want to take a chance that people will buy both?

Yeah, that's my beef. I mean, I liked the film I saw. And, I want to see the DC.....it's just I'm not sure if I'll dig the new one over the other version. I just wish they would have put them both on one disc, b/c it's obvious the DC edition is going to get the most push so they should have just added the theater version with it too.

I'm guessing they both have the same features and extras, with the film itself being the only difference. I'm assuming though.

I finally saw the movie on Wednesday night and i liked it a lot
I thought Farrell and Foxx were spot on in their roles even if some of the dialogue was a bit forced at times
The story to me was interesting watching the undercover deals escalate as they worked their way into trust plus i found the reserved and intense relationship with Sonny and Isabella well played with a touch of underlying tenderness and the final scene as he watched her leave as the sun comes up was quite sad
As with all Mann movies it looks fantastic with every shot crafted beautifully and the big shoot out is another classic on his CV

7.5/10

So is the HD-dvd will have the DC or the original version?

That's a good question. I can never seem to find concrete answers to that.

I keep thinking that maybe the studio is just keeping it quiet, although I heard there were an extra 20 minutes or so added to the HD version. It's probably true, just to add incentive to buying it. Or maybe it'll have both?

****.....
