Miami Vice

Im downloadig the dc right now. It seems like man didnt add the shootouts, oh well.

I think we'll get it when Miami Vice 2 gets going. I mean, we just got one disc. And, overall....I think it's worth money. But, you know there is more to stick on a DVD....probably make a 2-disc Special....than what they put out.

Double dipping, it's what it is. Eventually......hopefully....that shootout will be seen. That is, if it exists. I'm starting to think it's a myth. Like that magical chocolate factory that I've searched for my entire life. It consumes my life, really......

Ya know, listening to some of the commentary by Mann, it's pretty cool to see the level commitment he's got to this project.

I found it interesting to hear that he'd always wanted to do a Miami Vice movie. When he first got the script for the pilot for the show, apparently he tried to make it into a movie but NBC had already moved foward and owned it so it didn't happen. I mean, that's a cool fact. Especially for people who said that Mann just wanted use it as a market ploy (which sounds far fetched to me).

I gave back my HD-dvd player:( Which Means I exchange my Batman Begins HD for Miami Vice DC:( :)

I um..saw this the other day, neither of these guys have any depth to their characters, it was entertaining, i'll leave it at that.

I thought there was depth to them though. They were just rather somber and dark in the approach of it.

I enjoyed the film i really did, But i agree with Assassin. I just didnt feel hardly any character depth at all.. I felt no real partner relationship between Sonny or Rico. It just seemed like Farrel and Fox doing there thing but they just didnt havt the presence that either of them were supposed to be partners. The film was beautifuly shot as all Mann's films are and it was highly entertaining aswell. Perhaps im wrong on this, I will have to give it another shot soon.

Well, I think the reason they're partnership might have been sort of distant was b/c Sonny was really starting to lose himself in the job. Rico was there for him still, though, serving as the "guiding light" if you will. But, remember...Sonny was losing his head in the game. Hell, one can say he did lose his head in the game by what he did at the end. But, Rico still had his back, so I saw that as something that might have gone unnoticed for some.

I honestly dont think i'll ever watch this again. Its a one time deal, like Badboys 2.:cmad:

lol......dude, this film is waaayyyy better than Bad Boys II.

And remember...eventually that 3 hour version will come out. That one should be something to check out I think. I mean, just the very idea of a shootout beating the hell out of HEAT's...

what ?

Yeah, I Agree Bad Boy II and this film are on completly different levels. Like i said i enjoyed the film very much, I just felt the characters were lacking in depth, But i do agree with some of your points Bale, Sonny was losing his head into the job and neglecting the needs of his partner i felt by rushing off with Isabella leaving Rico to make the deal terms alone. I'm going to give it another shot, Somtimes Mann's films need a few viewings in order to truly capture everything interesting and fully grasp everything in his films. Heat and Collateral were two ones that i really enjoyed when i first viewed them but only really started to appreciate the brillance behind them after i watched them a few more times.

ohh, for some reason i though he said they beat the hell out of heats, like Miami Heats (shaq and them)

The idea is very interesting becuase i find Heat's shootout one of the very best ones on film, and i have seen many.

Saw it twice in theaters, and have seen it twice more on DVD and once with commentary.

So five for me. :)

lol, yeah the commentary is great here. Michael Mann does great commentary, the one he did on Collateral was great too.

I just wonder how different the film would be with the Neptunes subplot cut back into the film. The DC version was better than the theatrical cut in my mind b/c of a few things, especially the adding of song cues that amped things up more. And opening the film with the boat race certainly brought back memories of the series.

I think this has got to be michael's mann least favorite movie to me.....his trademark gun shotouts is in the movie.....I like the detail behind hw the drugs was shipped...and was glad the villain didn't get caught....but the two characters didn't have it going for them....Everything was beautifully shot but the characters were underdevelop and the plot was just too standard...the first part of the movie was so confusing..they are going after a bust in the club then all of a sudden their off to do something else

I love the DC version! This is the one I should have watched in theatre!

Odd that this didn't make it into the theaters. It's only 7 minutes longer. Not a big deal, since the studio seems to have freaked over how long the first cut was.
