Michael B Jordan IS Erik Killmonger!

So is this Killmonger guy adopted?? Raised in the west??? What....

In the comics, he and his family fled Wakanda when he was a child during Klaw's attack on Wakanda. So it makes sense if he had lost his accent.

now that I think about it.

who else could have played Killmonger? Not a lot of say 6'2-6'3 well trained actors in Hollywood who happen to be Black.

Hopefully Jordan knocks it out of the park.

There are plenty of talented unknown black actors out there. But given Coogler's working relationship with Jordan, and Jordan's status as a reasonably well known and liked actor, casting him was an understandable move.

I agree. Though early on it seemed as if folks mentioned he got this role just because of Coogler not understanding Jordan was far more known than Coogler (who still only directed 2 films before this).

It might have been interesting to see Ray Fisher play the role (had he not been signed as Cyborg several years ago). He has the physical presence for sure. And was an unknown

This is probably the most I've liked the suit. The mask looks awesome here.

Well, one option is in the movie. Winston Duke (6'4") could have just as easily been Killmonger instead of M'Baku.

You've clearly never seen Duke act before. If you've seen him in Person of interest and contrast his performances there with his role in modern family, you wouldn't even question his talent at all.

Sounds like Jordan treated this part with a lot of respect too.

I can't wait to see him and Boseman battling on screen.

It's kinda why I asked.

I've heard of that show but maybe watched an episode or two early on. what role did he play? I never saw him on Modern Family though.

Toys R Us has his bio. Minor spoilers about his background.

thats actually kind of interesting—having Erik be a part of the American special forces before making a play for Wakanda gives some opportunities for him to have interacted with other MCU characters, and might make his relationship with Klaue different from the comics. Was Killmonger an army/military nickname in the comics too?

Yeah. I think we might have a truly great villain this time

On PoI he played a very intelligent, intimidating and cunning gang leader, where at first part of his subterfuge was to pretend to being a low-level, nobody gang member. Fantastic performance.

Do you recall what season and for how many episodes? I might try and torrent it soon

No, Erik Killmonger was actually what he changed his name to. I guess this is like the whole Killgrave thing where they thought it wouldn’t be taken seriously as a real name.

That being said, Killgrave is a legitimate (Cornish, iirc) name. Killmonger was always something N'Jadaka (Erik) invented for himself.

Interestingly enough they chose him as M'Baku over this guy
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II auditioned for the role of M'Baku. He would later go on to play the villain Black Manta in the upcoming DCEU film Aquaman (2018).

Funny how things worked out for both.

I've heard good things about Mateen's chops from The Get Down and even Baywatch. But his look strikes me as more appropro for Killmonger or Moses Magnum than M'Baku. I think Duke was a great pick for that character.

He first appeared on Person of Interest in Season 4, Episode 4. He made a total of 7 appearances during that season. Here's the episodes he's in: Ep. 4 "Brotherhood"; Ep. 6 "Pretenders"; Ep. 8 "Point of Origin"; Ep. 9 "The Devil You Know"; Ep. 16 "Blunt"; Ep. 21 "Asylum"; and Ep. 22 "YHWH."

Over/Under 15 mins of screen time

Cate had 12 mins
Keaton had 16 mins
Edit: 19 for Keaton
this past year
