I thought the SAME exact thing when I read that....it was like he had taken on this diverse, intricate character and put his own spin on his character...:whatever:

:funny:

Meh, sounds like the same lame spin.

Poor'ol MJB and Trank trying to rise above the evil racist haters preventing them from making a historical movie...

Except that's not the case here as far as I'm concerned.

MBJ and this interviewer clearly don't know what the bigger picture is as far as FOX is concerned. The fact is that if Disney offered Fox a Billion $$$ and a new lucrative X-men merchandising deal in exchange for this franchise, FOX would drop it in a heartbeat.

So MJB needs to get off his high horse and stop making it seem like he an Trank convinced Fox to reinvent the underground railroad or some other equivalent endeavor. They're simply part of a plan that prevents this franchise from reverting to Marvel in order for FOX to get a big pay out for it.

Simple as that!

If disney offered Fox a huge deal with regards to X-Men merchandize then yeah
they would part In deal.

But,the idea Fox Is trying to extort money Is just crazy. They actully made this film and first trailer will likely be out In february.

Michael Jordan Is playing human torch because that's who Josh Trank wanted and fox Is letting Trank make film he wanted.

If you didlike film how about critizing Trank and writers and let the Fox Is evil
part of studio wars go.

If Fox actually wanted to make money off the rights, they'd not be making a minimum budget film with no marketing.

.......Nah, I think I'll stick with my overall assessment on the matter.

Way too many red flags to ignore for this to be anything less than rights ransoming.

Marvel films in general are averaging $650 million these days, so why such little support and cheap casting for this reboot right before the deadline? Trank and Kinberg's fault?

No, I think not.

The interview just leaves me wondering if Jordan and the interviewer really think it's a race thing . . . or do they know what's really going on and just choose to take the easier route and make it sound like it's about race?

Either way it's insulting. They're either ignoring us or intentionally misrepresenting our concerns.

Would it be so hard to recognize the fans and address some of our concerns directly and honestly? The fact that nobody is talking about any of the things we're concerned about is why there's reason to be concerned.

What I have seen over these last few months is the fact that the vast majority of people I've seen talking about this as a racist issue are those that are excited because their favorite actor is playing this or that character, and they are ticked off that ANYONE would be upset about who was cast. It was petty then and totally lost in the whole idea that comic books are as much art as they are literature, therefore the idea that the visual to some is just as important as the story is not at all unheard of, OR racist in nature....and it is still petty today, and I'm very saddened that this actor has stooped to that argument so quickly and early on in the advertising of this project.

Fun fact: I think MBJ could potentially be a great Human Torch. I still think this whole production is an abomination and an impending disaster.

I know, crazy idea to fathom. It hurts just thinking how that could be possible :o.

The blame goes both ways. There are some who stopped awfully quickly dismiss any argument against Jordan as racist, but there were some comments in the past that were blatantly racist and disrespectful, and as an African American I was hurt by those comments. To dismiss all those claims as petty is being as bad the people who dismiss all other comments as racist, and it is disappointing that not only a mod, but an admin would be so incredibly biased toward one side and not be open to the other side of the coin.

I expected better from you.

So if everything that's loved about comic Johnny is translated perfectly onto the screen by MBJ is it really a bad thing? Just because he's black? Or am I totally missing the point here?

Maybe they made him black for the wrong reasons, (trank just wanted his buddy, or the people in charged wanted to make a character black just to make him black, etc.) But if it comes out good and he personifies johnny storm perfectly will there still be negativity towards the casting? And is that negativity just because he's not white, like the comics say he is?

Honestly, that has already been discussed to the point of beating a dead horse....not really feeling like going back into that debate.

I'm sorry, but having been one of those that was called a racist...and never being called that in my life....guess it goes both ways. The claims that I saw, and that were used elsewhere, were petty....I call it as I see it, if you disagree. So be it...

As I stated before, don't really want to go into that debate again.

This debate should have been over with months ago. No one wants to go into the debate again, which makes me wonder why you, a mod and admin of all people, would not only bring it up the race again, but also pour fuel into already divisive and controversial pile by generalizing and calling people are for MBJ's casting petty.

Someone in an online forum who do not know you called you a racist, and you believed it, or least fell into their hands? So that's why you're falling into the trap and continuing the problems with this thread? You're a mod and an admin, you're supposed to be above that and keep order in this thread. Instead, you let this race argument linger for more than a year after it has been annoucned.

To say the whole race issue has been debated ad nauseum is a severe understatement. Nothing else has been able to be discussed. Nothing else has been talked about. Just about the color of Michael B. Jordan's skin. I've been here for 5 years, and if this was any other thread on any other forum, you and other mods would have told people to knock it off and the topic in bold letters. But because you have a such a bias against the situation, you let this whole subject go until it only pushes and turns people off this forum, but turn people off the movie.

This thread has been poorly moderated, and you've done nothing but add to the problems of this thread. I'm disappointed in you, and I'm disappointed in other mods for not quelling this discussion any earlier because of personal bias. This debate should have been over and done months ago after he was officially cast or a while after.

Sometimes I wonder if you optimists even bother to read what people are actually saying. You decided to not only bring up the race debate again after 4 or 5 people just stated race wasn't the issue here, but specifically after I just said I think MBJ was a great casting choice. That was literally like a post ago prior to yours.

Now to be fair, there has been a lot of fans unpleased with the race-lifting of Johnny, but judging from the way you structured your post, you were clearly addressing the last few people that commented here as opposed to the fanbase in general. So I don't know why you decided to bring this up now.

Please read what users say before jumping the gun and throwing blanket arguments.

Well, I'll give you the last word on it....:cwink:

Fair. Let's just put the race debate the rest. It's beaten worse than a dead horse.

At this point the dead horse looks at the race issue and tries it's best to laugh at it even though it's rib cage is cracked open.

My apologies, I didn't mean to stir the pot. I guess I was misreading the topic going on. For what its worth I think he's one of the perfect actors in Hollywood to pull off this role. If race isn't the issue (which im glad about that not being the big deal to people anymore) then what is? Just because the information they have given doesn't point toward him portraying a comic accurate Johnny?

Well there goes the claim that the team wont wear suits. One thing less to complain about, right guys?

This will probably be the case for many of the "facts" people keep throwing around here, they just simply wont be true.

Most people here are more dissapointed with the casting of Miles Teller than Jordan, but if Jordan talks about race - instead of the real concerns with the production - he can effectively deflect and avoid any discussion of those real concerns.

He could just be refering to that weird glowing suit that could be seen in the Doom leaks.

Yup, CGI marker suits usually are pretty tight, so he could have been referring to that lit up suit the stunt man on the harness (or him if he was in it) was wearing.

Time will tell.

So MBJ thinks that once we all look past the race issue, everything about this film will be fine, because that's all that is a concern about this production? :whatever:

I won't post the photo since that's a no-no, but I think anyone who saw that photo probably made the same assumption. It certainly didn't look like a comfortable suit, what with the fluorescent light strips attached and all. :funny:
