Revenge of the Fallen Michael Bay out of the way!

What I'm trying to say is that these aren't the greatest TF movies that could have ever been made (though the first one was pretty great), but I would much rather stick with Bay who delivers what he delivers than a cheap Bay ripoff that is just going to fall flat on every aspect. Unless Spielberg wants to step in for the third one, which he doesn't.

I wonder how many of them were just "sick" after seeing ROTF.

And as I expected, the argument in defense of ROTF has now come down to money, as if big opening week boxoffice somehow validates all the inept, sloppy filmmaking that is so painfully obvious in this movie.

So let's review some past high-dollar blockbusters and gauge their quality:

Shrek 3 : $323 mil US
The Matrix Reloaded: $282 mil US
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull: $317 mil US
Meet the Fockers : $279 mil US
How the Grinch Stole Christmas : $260 mil US

and of course...

Well, we don't really know how many people are going to "come back for more" right now do we? (Assuming you mean repeat viewings.)

My point is that there was no question that ROTF was going to make big money. It was front-loaded for success based on the success of the first film and the lure of the robot special effects. But it arguably didn't deliver as well as the first TF movie did (and yes, there are a LOT of non-critics and non-fanboys saying this too, so no use in pretending otherwise), so the "legs" this movie will have is something that remains to be seen.

and yes, the success of the first one made this a big success, just like the success of the next one will be partly due to the success of this one
at some point this will be considered a successful franchise

Jackson has prior experience with making large, epic scoped films...and has experience with humans interacting with much larger beings/creatures.

It just seems like a good fit because he puts a lot of heart in his movies, large action sequences, great set pieces and great camera angles.

whatever you feel about TF1 and TF2, the guy made the movie really for the masses, and it worked. every part i thought was cheesy or corny were the parts everyone else loved.

If DreamWorks/Paramount are smart enough, they'll wait for 2012 for Bay. If not, well, they can go ahead and get Jackson or Cameron, but I won't be watching it.

I was interested with Abrams' version back with the teaser trailer, so that's not a good example for me. But here's one, I liked Thomas Jane as the Punisher, so I said I will never watch War Zone, and I haven't yet. And never will.

But it's just that a new director for TF will mess up what Bay created, much like how Burton left the Batman franchise, and Schumacher effed it up. Sure, Bay's not the greatest of directors, but a new one for TF3 will mess up every way that Bay created it with. So, I usually mean what I say.

And also, I'm not a big fan for either Jackson or Cameron. Didn't like LOTR or King Kong, and not a fan of any of Cameron's stuff, except for maybe True Lies, and I'm not a big Terminator fan. But...Avatar does seem interesting for what's it worth.
