This is interesting. The stigma with Bay is the explosions and plot thing (which is ******** in it's own right). Now we get to see all the fanboys eat they're words when theres fewer explosions sacrificed for the sake of building an intricate plot in a movie based on living robots from outer space who turn into human vesicles.

I hope alot because the general audience found it to be a bit of a dud.

a bayless TF would surely be just as big a dud, the concept isn't anything special

Bay should get praise where deserved and let me just note that the main battle sequences in ROTF (Shanghai, Forrest, and Jet Prime vs Fallen) were fantastically choreographed especially the forrest fight.

Not all directors would be able to execute this. McG had giant robots in Terminator: Salvation yet that didn't excite a single bone in my body.

I want Bay to finish his trilogy. With a better script Bay can make a final "Transformers" film thats on par with first or even better. I truly believe the writers strike crippled the screenplay for ROTF heavily.

No offense to Bay's writing but he contributed some his ideas and even wrote some of the plot points. Orci and Kurtzman also didn't do to great either with the exception of setting up the battle sequences to an extent.

i agree with everything except this. i dont think there was anything different with that script. it's not like the first one was macbeth. they are both pretty bad, but that was kinda the point. not meant to be anything more than what it was. I don't think the screenplay got "hurt". it was was it was supposed to be.

The story in ROTF was definitely worse that the first in terms of narrative & pacing. There was also an over saturation of comedy (usually hit or miss).

The first films script wasn't gold but it was structured in a much better way than the script for ROTF was.

Not only that but the already simplistic dialogue for the humans was lowered a notch as well. I mean in one sentence Sam uses the word "head" almost consecutively to explain that Megatron was trying to get the ancient Cybertronian language from his brain.

Thats just one example out of many. The plot itself wasn't bad but the manner in which it was structured largely caused ROTF to drag severely throughout parts. I mean during my first viewing I was lethargic by the time Jet Prime came onto the screen.

Michael Bay doesn't care what the critics think, Bay is 'unimpressed'

Despite receiving a critical drubbing, "Transformer: Revenge of the Fallen" soared to box office success over the weekend. While director Michael Bay is no stranger to hatred from the critics, the LA Times reports that Bay was not impressed with their lambasting this time.

I think they reviewed the wrong movie. They just don't understand the movie and its audience. It's silly fun. I am convinced that [critics] are born with the anti-fun gene. The reviews are just so vicious. A lot of them are more personal than anything else.

Maybe he could direct only the action scenes, leaving the development of the story for some talented director.

it's funny cause he used to care about critics but it seems now that he cares more about the audience

So, Michael Bay recently said he'll return for the 3rd installment. But since TF2 brought the level of crappiness below my expectation, let's boycott this p.o.s. and say to Michale Bay:

It's definitely the story. He's often not very good with actors either. He's a technical director through and through.

I know. I'm talking about the story on the paper. I don't doubt that it is good. But when directed to the big screen...not anymore.
