Michael Bay's "Transformers" Vs. The Fantastic Four (merged 2)

The new Harry Potter release doesn't really give FF to have legs this time around. And I thought it was in trouble just going against Transformers. :(

Whats the difference between this and last year....last year no one knew who the F4 were...now they do...

You people really need to get a grip and chill out......

Get a grip and chill out? I am just recognizing that F42 is going to be having some heavy competition if these release dates stay the same.

You just happened to be the one i had quoted...people on here in general over the last couple of days....

Well I haven't read this thread other than the topic. And this board has been ****ed up since the movie release. Pretty much nothing but mixed feelings and arguments flying back and forth.

Way to serious. :) Smile. Things work out, they always do. If they feel they have to move so what ? There are other good spots. Labor day for 1. Would give more time to work on post production. More time to advertise it. The move from the 1st to the 8th, worked out fine. If they have to move 2 or 3 weeks, or a month or two, no biggie. It will do fine no matter where they move it on the schedule.

F42 is going to be one of Fox's summer tentpoles they wouldn't move it to Labor Day Weekend i can tell you that. September is one of the worst months for movies.

Well first casting for transformers has happend and I like the actor there thinking about choseing for spike. Hopefully the reast of the rumored cast will be good.

Isn't there a "Transformers" forum on the hype?

All i'm saying is, it's getting crowded there in July. You got FF, Transformers, and Harry Potter opening in the 1st 2 weeks of July. Something will have to give there. Mabey I should make a poll on who will be the 1st to blink. It's a game of chicken.

transformers - "Transformers" (you see, it's capitalized.)
happend -you mean "happened?"
there-you mean "they're?"
choseing- you mean "choosing?"
And I'll give you a pass on "reast" as a typo.

As for Spike, I believe I read they're changing his name to "Sam."
Welcome to the wonderful world of Hollywood screwing around with your favorite characters!

And yes, as others pointed out, there is a Transformers board (though I don't see much activity on it compared to this board...hmmmm)
So post any exciting Transformers news over there, huh? Unless they cast Michael Chiklis or some other FF actor, it has nothing to do with this board.

Oh, and that reminds me of the one really big advantage FF has on Transformers and Harry Potter: Jessica Alba's cleavage. :)
Really, No kidding.
See, when most of us stopped playing with toys, we started getting interested in girls. Now it's true, they don't change into trucks or rockets or anything cool like that, but... okay, I'm stopping...

yes thats what i said FF2 is a summer blockbuster. you can't release a summer blockbuster in fall. and about septemember being a bad month thats probably why jess's other movie awake moved. but seriously why did potter move? they where raking money in at the november spot.

Well Fox just pushed up maybe there biggest tentpole yet The Simpson's Movie just got a release date of July 27 2007 (just found out there are trailers in front of Ice Age). For sure before this F42 was Fox's biggest summer movie now I'm not so sure.

On IMBD it has the Simpsions for 2008. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0462538/fullcredits Also It's going to be animated, so it may be one of those right to DVD movies. So forget The Simpsons. Right now looks like it boils down to the FF, Transformers, Harry Potter for July 07. And I think the one to move should be The Transformers. Cause the'll be crushed the way it's set up now.

Dude the news just broke today, IMDB doesn't update at the snap of a finger like other websites.

Doesn't matter. Still immaterial. What the heck does The Simponsons movie opening 3 weeks after the FF movie have to do with anything ? 1st The Transformers is a threat, and now The Simpsons ? Give me a break. The FF will take either one of them out. Harry Potter, now there's a threat. There's a problem.

those warner bros bastards. thry just can't let them have the 4th of july spot huh? they think transformers is no big deal. so then they bring in the big guns to muscle them out of there spot! which they claimed first!

It's as plain as the nose on my face what's going on there. WB does Batman, Superman, Transformers, and Harry Potter. It's a blantent conspirecy by the DC fanboys who run WB to once again try and bury the FF. They couldn't do it to the 1st one, with all their DC fanboy critics, and their plant reviewers. So now they are ganging up, by putting Harry Potter the weekend after the FF opens. Talk about fanboyism. :thing: But as before the FF will stand tall and victorious, despite the DC fanboys at WB. Starting with the idiot over there, who insisted that the FF movie would have to move. Mr. Michale Bay.They just declaired war.Time for the FF fans to rise up.

Well all I have to say is....stay off the other DC hype boards...its alittle hard to gripe about trolls here when we have just as many on their boards....ie BB vs. F4 last spring....

I agree, Thing. Harry Potter poses the biggest threat to FF2's box office.
I'm still not that concerned, though; I really don't think the overall box office for FF2 will be reduced that much in the end. Look at FF1: It was only at #1 for a single week, and then got knocked right out by Wedding Crashers and Charlie & The Chocolate Factory. But it still went on to break 300 million. Which really surprised me. Would it have eventually broken 360 million had one of those films not opened the following weekend? I doubt it, really. I think most moviegoers basically see what they're gonna see, in their own time.

The only thing I care about is whether FF2 is a bigger, better movie than FF1. If it is, I'm happy. (Especially if they give Ben Grimm his freakin' brow.)

And personally, I hope Transformers is a deserving blockbuster. I'm looking forward to enjoying it with my kids. Probably more than once.

I think it's gonna feel surreal next July to look at my local newspaper's movie listings and see both Spiderman 3 and Fantastic Four 2.

I just want 'em to get it right.

I have come to a conclusion that if FOX is smart and has any sense, then after looking at summer 2007 movie release schedule, they should COMMIT on making a truly fantastic sequel to F4.

Because if they do a half-a** job like the first one then the movie is surley doomed. It will bomb that is guranteed.

But since F4-2 will be FOX's tentpole movie (i hope because i think they have HALO and now SIMPSONS so they might not give much attention to F4-2) of the summer. And if they want the July 4th weekend all to themselves then they should by now REALIZE that they have to make a truly awesome sequel.

AND that moment will arrive when FOX releases the TEASER trailer for F4-2. The teaser trailer will show us all whether F4-2 has a chance to stand against the heavy competition.

1. I was writeing this at school and how no idea how long I would have on the computer. So I typed it out fast thats why theres alot of typos. 2.Yes I know there is a transformers board but what is this it says in the title transformers vs FF so you know what I posted some news here to show you guys the casting. If you dont want me talking about transformers here then change the title of the thread to FF 2.

Fox could put most of the marketing with The Simpsons and not as much with F42. Marketing was great last year with F4. It depends on which movie Fox plans to make its number one movie of the summer.

I'm just stating that its as plain as rain why there doing this. I don't go to any other board but here. WB has fired the 1st shot. I was comtiplating going to see SR, but after this, I wouldn't go if they gave me a free ticket. I may go see X-Men 3, 9 times. I may try to talk my friends into not going to go see it. They can choke on it for all I care. And with POTC 3, opening weekend after, they just might.

Forget the big brow. As far as everything else I agree 100 %. I wasn't surprised at all abot the 330 million it made. I said that long time ago, when it was still in It's infancy. I knew it would beat X-Men at 295 million. Was never any doubt in my mind it would make 300 million. Thou I was one of the few who had faith that it would at the time.

You do have a point. Maybe the mod would close this thread? It's really not serving much of a purpose...
