The Dark Knight Michael Keaton on TDK

Wow. That went right over your head. Nice racial slur by the way!

:funny: The Irish are considered a race?

I'll try really hard to leep my analogies a little lower brow in future.

Yes continue to "leep" us morons in your sphere of reasoning with concepts that aren't so hard to understand :whatever:

And you're dead right. Keaton's career has been pretty poor over the last ten years. Nearly dying will do that to you i guess. But it doesn't change the fact that he gave us the best on screen portrayal of batman to date.

IYO, right? Because that's all it is.

:funny: The Irish are considered a race?

Yes they are. Of course they are. And a racial slur isn't confined to issues of race. However xenophobic stereotype would also have done in that circumstance.

Well why are you having such a hard time understanding them!? And thanks for pointing out my typo. Silly me, what with the k being beside the l on the keyboard, my finger must have slipped, resulting in an instant 20 point fall in my iq. To be frank i'm surprised i'm even managing to write this.

Well. That and the box office takes. B89's worldwide gross is $411,348,924.

BB's worldwide gross is $371,853,783.

Those figures speak for themselves. Especially when you consider that they aren't inflation adjusted, and if they were, B89 would be CONSIDERABLY higher, as if it's DOMESTIC ALONE is adjusted, you get a figure of $412,500,000. 40 million more than BB's WORLDWIDE gross.

SO I guess, uh, it's mine and a lot of other people's opinion that B89 is better.

Just because it did better back in the day? First BB had to follow something that everyone still had a rotten taste in their mouth called "Batman & Robin" Most people thought Batman would never be able to do a good movie again. And it was only about 8 years after BR. BB had legs on it, it kept going because of word of mouth.

Second IMDB and Rottentomatoes still holds a higher score on BB then B89. Where out of 150,000 users BB is it a 8.3/10

Not saying B89 is bad, but I think in today's standards people are more akin to BB as of now, either it be because its a newer version. But I think most like both of them. But I would say TDK will be a showmanship of how much BB became popular more so after it came out on DVD.

Yes - because how much a movie makes is definitely the trademark of an excellent performance.

I guess you could say Jason Lee is one of the best actors in comedy last year by how much Alvin & the Chipmunks made so far...

/sarcasm

EDIT: Not directed at you, Solidus :cwink:

Hehe, I know :cwink:

Given they were over 15 years apart and there are all kinds of things to take into account, comparing Box Office between B89 and BB is pointless, some like Keaton best and some like Bale best, no biggie and no need for everyone to get worked up over it.

That's rubbish. It's not a sign of any sort of excellent performance, it's a sign of popularity. Which was my point.

Thank you.

Don't get me wrong, I loved Begins. And dude, i'm so not getting worked up over it.

I'm just saying! No biggie at all at all.

Well, although I do like BB quite a bit more, I know I'd much rather take home Jack's payroll for the Joker rather than Bale's as Batman. I know that.

Not always though. I mean look at Titanic, I don't really even see that as popular anymore. It was a fluke back then.

Yea Jack made bank on that. I wish I could have some of his money ;)

A billion dollar fluke?

SO it wasn't at all popular at the time? Cinema's suddenly had very poor directions and people going to see sister act 2 found themselves in a period piece about a sinking boat?

Good theory.

Man you really have an attitude dude. All I said was that now adays, you don't see people talking about it left and right, as they still do B89 even or Star Wars, or Terminator ect.

I don't mean to come across badly. My point was that Begins had a relatively low box office take. Yes, this was due to batman and robin in part.

But I'm just saying that it reflected the popularity of the film at the time.

Don't forget B89 had to overcome adam west. Decades of adam west syndication.

Man you people catch feelings over anything I swear to god lmao wow. Anyway nice find and cool interview and as Bat Mite said all Batman movies like 98% of all film suffer from imperfections.

I loved "Live from Baghdad" I bought it. He was really good in that. Yea and I like Keaton a lot, I wish he would be in more stuff today.

The last movie I saw him in was White Noise. It's a shame he hasn't been doing a whole lot lately.

Yes of course it did that is not a lie. But still at the same time most saw it as nothing more then a cheap TV show. Though they did a movie as well. But I think most saw that they were going to put a blockbuster budget finally giving Bats his due. Which they did. And the hype around B89 was INSANE. one of the biggest marketing devices ever. There was Batman everywhere. So that helped bring those in to the movies as well. And BB did not have near as an insane marketing device as B89 did.

Hunter Rider took the words out of my mouth. It's pointless to debate box office earnings and merit of the two films. It's sad that nearly every thread has to disolve into a "Batman 89 vs. Batman Begins" argument. It's irritating, actually.

True true, this much is right. Hunter is right, I missed that post. I myself will shut up now ;)

Heh heh... Trust me, there's no argument.

What's your actual point? *sigh* I'm not even going to continue this...

That's what I'm saying it's laughable that the kids who prefer the new vision over everything else even feel threatened by some old ass movies that could be seen on the goddamn CW on sunday afternoons to the point that they try to defend their movie of choice like the Army does the US. By the same token it's hilarious to see people not able to move on and realize that Christian Bale is now Batman and that there is a series of movies being made that thanks to the mistakes committed by the previous ones inspires and even richer series of Batman films and it's not going to go anywhere. Stop trying to force your preference on the next man you will never change his mind. Just learn to appreciate that at least us Batman fans have more than one great interpretation of the mythos to enjoy. You really can't say that about any other superhero
