It would be nice to have Captain America played by an actor who actually looks like a man instead of an actor who looks like a metrosexual pretty boy. So I'm okay with Shanks.

It would also be nice if they remember that Cap's costume is RED white and blue, not burgundy white and blue.

Michael Shanks is built pretty good, and has the looks to pull it off. He's awesome on SG-1, and I wouldn't have a problem with him in the role. Still, I doubt the source is really that credible. Besides, shouldn't the waiter be focusing more on his job than listening to what other peoples' conversations consist of?

That makes sense as well, too. Paul Walker has those All-American looks that really epitomize what Captain America is all about. He's also got the build as well. I can see him doing justice to this role. He's a solid actor with a star on the rise, and the Clint Eastwood film he's going to be in, should do well as it shows how America saved the world and Iwo Jima in WWII. Good association and way to connect Paul Walker with Captain America. Good call.

He'd do the role justice. He's obviously able to act well enough to find employment in the industry. If he couldn't act, he wouldn't have employment. He's going to be one of the primary star in Flags of Our Fathers being directed by Clint Eastwood.

Sadly, while you logic is sound in theory, it doesn't actually apply in reality--bad actors find work all the time. Keanu Reeves, for example.

Walker can't act--and doesn't look like Captain America, anyway.

Walker works but Shank is the best candidate if you want an eventual avengers movie that wouldn`t need $100mil just for the cast`s expenses. That`s why i would prefer him for the role. It makes an avnegers movie feasible.

Wouldnt that rule Walker out? He's stated in the past that the reason he apparently said no to being Superman was that he was reluctant to having to sign to do three films.

Not keen on Walker anyway (surfer dude Cap?). Shanks could play Cap (and wouldnt be a bad choice) but I'd still like Matthew McConaughey to play Steve Rogers. He's got just enough 'star power' to draw in numbers, he can act, and damn sure already has a great build with the potential to pack on serious muscle when needed, and play an absolute badass (see Reign of Fire)

The same way I hoped Bale would get the Batman role:- I hope McConaughey gets this one.

Shanks would do well with this, as would McConneghy, but I'm pretty sure they're looking for a younger relative unknown, like they did for Superman Returns, with Brandon Routh.
I'd prefer Shanks tho. He's closer to the All-American Mid-westerner look that Cap sported (even though he grew up in New York). McConneghy is a lot taller appearing, and Cap needs to be 6'-6'2".
Unfortunately, I'll bet this is just a made-up rumor.

Shanks is the best pick by far for this role, An somewhat Uknown is crucial for this part. That's mostlikely why he was chosen for the role.
