Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor

The gameplay is absolutely embarrassing. There is borrowing, and then there is blatant ripping off.

Not getting my hopes up. But I love the LOTR world

Who cares if it's a rip off if it's good? Captain. America was a fun game and it totally ripped off Arkham. People said the Arkham games (Arkham Asylum at the time) had ripped off AC's combat gameplay. People said GoW was just a DMC rip off.. Go back a little more and people said Crash Team Racing was a ripoff of Mario Kart (it was.. But it was good.)

I honestly don't care if one game or another straight up rips off another games combat if it said combat is fun and they don't make it worse. Besides there seems to be some pretty original stuff here too.

Rip off? That gameplay looked great. If the combat is fun, familiar and intuitive then it's great, right? It only becomes derivative if it isn't served with variety... If those 'nemesis' encounters all feel the same and if your character is boring then fine.... But if that core gameplay is fun and it's wrapped around a great story and some genuinely unique ideas (like the Nemesis system) then I see zero wrong with it.

I mean honestly, some of the greatest games out there are a combination of existing gameplay mechanics put through with a new spin... Uncharted was Tomb Raider, Darksiders was God of War and Zelda with the art style of WOW.... I mean, at the moment both Batman and Assassins Creed use the same combat system.... But does either one detract from the unique feel of the other? Hell no.

Here's an embed for the trailer

I love LOTR but never got into any of the games except Battle for Middle Earth on pc. Will just have to wait and see on this.

this looks cool!!

I'm definitely interested.

Looks like an amazing combination of AC and Ryse. Count me the eff in

Stopped after the first decapitation? Don't want anything ruined for you, eh?

"Nope! No more! I don't want these awesome Orc deaths spoiled for me!"

Wow, this looks surprisingly good. The nemesis mechanic sounds like a fun and unique idea. I'm cautiously optimistic now.

This also seems like it's going to be next gen (Can we call PS4/XBO current gen now?) only.. Which.. I'm thankful for.

How many next gen only games are there?

How many next gen only games are there?

Not many currently. More will come as developers realize they cant create the game they want on current gen(or is it now last gen?) consoles.

Yeah.

I call PS4/X1 next gen until the 1st proper rumour of anything for the gen after, or at least until they become the dominant formats above PS3 & 360.

This game looks really good.

The graphics are beautiful. And that combat looks so sweet! :D
Not to mention a crouch function that the AC games somehow lack

Seriously? I think Evolve is the ONLY one I can think of... Outside of first party titles like inFAMOUS Second Son...

Turtle Rock stated in Game Informer that Evolve is only possible on PS4/XB1 and PC.

Witcher 3. The Division. Dying Light. Golf Club. Just a few off the top of my head
