Mighty Ducks TV Series in the Works

I agree. I just thought they might have gone with something a bit more typical.

Me too. I didn't even think about this option. But once you hear it, it makes so much god damn sense. Not a great tragedy, but something simple that easily can cause him to get jaded.

I'm glad we finally got more of Bombay's backstory and what he was up to between D3 and this show. It made sense but I can guarantee him not being allowed to coach in college again wouldn't happen. Especially since his program was so successful.

You know how many NCAA basketball coaches have had sanctions and gotten into trouble only to turn around and get another job a year or two later?

It sounds like the kid made out okay. And I would be willing to bet that Bombay took a deal to protect the kid he helped from consequences. And it is quite easy to see how such a process can make him jaded like we saw in the first episode. He does not like what the Ducks have become, essentially Hawks 2.0, and I'm sure realizing what the NCAA essentially treats their athletes would turn him away from continuing.

Is it just me or does Graham play the same character type/mannerisms in every tv series?

Pretty much. Which is why she gets hired for those specific roles. They are looking for Lorelai and she gives them Lorelai.

I did like her in Bad Santa. She was not quite so Lorelai in that.

I think the character type works best without Amy Sherman-Palledino's dialogue.

I will say, I was happy to see the reference to Jans, Hans brother from D2.

Been binging a bit on Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist and Laruen Graham is pretty good in that too, and less Lorelai than usual. Still a touch though. She gets to do a lot of song and dance routines.

...can’t believe they got a Paul Westerberg tune.

Oh there’s definitely something heating up between Gordon & Alex lol

Liked how the newest episode took a step back from the kids and gave more focus to the adults

Hard to believe there’s actually parents out there in real life who are just as controlling, demanding, and obsessive as the Ducks parents are with their kids when it comes to playing sports. Those poor kids

Gordon Bombay has one move. And he sticks with it... I was wondering if Gordon was going to mention his past as a lawyer, but nope.

Good to see Koob getting a personality. Impressive voice as well. The writers have to how some of these scenes are playing, right? Right? And it was nice to see Sofi's dad change his mind.

Was that Eddie McClintock as Evan's dad next week?

Yeah i was wondering if they'd bring up his past as a lawyer. Doesn't look that way

While I think this is most likely the case, I do wonder if they're saving this for a big important moment.
I’m wondering that too

In the first episode there was an attorney that popped up who was referred to as Mr. Ducksworth

Wonder if he’s related to Gordon’s old boss from the first movie

I think this is one series that would’ve benefited dropping all episodes at once ala Cobra Kai.

Very disappointed in the new Hawks. No talking about the old Hawks. Even the uniform is completely different. They had been pretty good on references and stuff, but I guess I had too much expectations for them.

Eddie McClintock was a good choice for Evan's dad. If there is one thing that trumps Bombay's Milf hunting, it is kids without a dad. Felt bad for Evan, because his dad seemed to be really enjoying the game.

I liked Maya and Lauren's story. I do enjoy the smaller parts of the episodes focused on fleshing out the kids. Did not expect to become emotionally protective of a kid's cape. Still waiting for Lauren to unleash her rage on the ice rink. Sans nunchuks, of course. Though they really need to come into play somehow....

Honestly surprised how much this show leans on the adult side of things. This whole Bombay arc is beautiful... even when it’s pertaining to kids, it’s more open and honest.

It feels very Boy Meets World with its themes and life lessons. I always loved that no matter how goofy BMW got - the objectives of an episode usually pertaining to friendships, relationships, or life lessons were truthful and substantial... especially when the parents were involved.

I enjoy how much of a smart ass Bombay is, the show does lean towards having things adults like. Probably because most adults watching it were kids during the movies so they feel like they can go that direction.

So on the newest episode one thing I realized is how it kind of made no sense from a team dynamic and story building point.

They begged home girl from the Ducks to join them right? She made like 10 goals against them when they played. This episode where they play the "Second worst team" they don't even show the character once besides at the lunch table. If she is the best player and they wanted her so bad it was weird they wouldn't feature her and she couldn't get a single goal. They were down 0-4 until Bombay brought the dad and Evan went off for 5 goals to win. That just didn't make sense that she made hella goals vs Don't Bothers even if she took the game personal. She should have been able to get some goals in this one. I still enjoyed the show but that part seemed to be odd to me.
