Miles Teller in ‘The Offer’ | The Making of ‘The Godfather’

I am loving this so far and I honestly wasn't even planning on watching it, but the first three episodes have hooked me, and I had no idea just how stacked this cast was until now.

The relationship between Puzo and Coppla are some of my favorite scenes so far although I am also loving Giovanni Ribisi who is absolutely chewing the scenery in this as Joe Columbo as well as Matthew Goode as Robert Evans. I really don't get why this is being so maligned by critics but to each their own, I guess.

I caught up with it over the weekend and I'm enjoying it as well but I don't think I'd be as into it if I didn't love The Godfather as much as I do.

Puzo, Coppola and Juno Temple's character are the standouts so far. Teller is alright even though I'm still not a fan of his. Ribisi is good but he could have dialed back the accent a bit, and speaking of accents, Matthew Goode has the inflection right for Robert Evans but his English accent breaks through a little too often.

Is it just me or does the show almost feel like a parody? Particularly the mafia scenes, it all feels very cheap and artificial. The acting's hammy and over the top, the make-up's not very convincing, the character development is very shallow.

And yet somehow it's fun and entertaining. A lot of that is probably due to my interest in The Godfather and filmmaking in general, but I think I'll stick with it.
