No it's not a dumb analogy.

Most of Spike Lee's films don't have an agenda anymore than Steven Spielberg's. Most of his movies show the world from a black protagonists perspective the same way 90 percent of Hollywood movies are from a white man's perspective.

He's also done historical dramas and documentaries that deal with African American history. Most of which was being ignored by Hollywood and the media at large but I don't think that's a crime. A Mexican American or Korean American director should do the same thing if they feel under-represented in the media.

I'm looking forward to this movie.....I love WWII stories....and there are many untold stories about all races about this war.

People tend to make movies about things they know and understand...or are interested in. White directors tend to make movies about white people....black directors tend to make movies about black people. There is no conspiracy in this....it's just human nature.

Spike Lee is interested in exploring racial issues between blacks and whites.....so most of his movies are based around this issue (most, not all)....so there is no big deal about his movies having lot's of black people working on them.

Spielberg made a little movie called "Schindler's List" and the award winning documentary "Shoah" about the treatment of Jews during WWII.

For years....the movie industry was dominated by white males. Speaking as an old white male.....I have no problem with movies being made by people who aren't exactly like me.

Its estimated that 4000 World War 2 vets die a week (it may be more). They were our greatest generation, and selfless in their act to give up staying at home playing baseball to journey across the ocean and fight a truly dark enemy.

We need MORE movies and books and shows, because soon they will all be dead. And our youth dare not forget their sacrifice because we don't need more people like you running around carelessly.

Exactly. Like my dad-he's 81. Enlisted at age 17, lied about his age to get in. Would today's teens do that even in a war that just? I'd hope so, but i doubt it.

America's role in WWII was it's greatest moment as a country as far as I'm concerned.

As far as the Great Patriotic War, I had to look that one up because it isn't known outside of Russia, and it basically refers to NOT World War 2, but only Russia's conflicts with the Germans. So yeah, Russia won it's own war against Germany.

And while Operation Citadel was a huge turning point in the war, so was the Normandy invasion (D-Day). Citadel's defeat got the Germans out of the offensive and Operation Overlord pushed them back to Germany and into total defeat.

You have missed the point......Kurosawa said "America's role in WWII was it's greatest moment as a country as far as I'm concerned.".....he is saying that America's participation in World War II was the greatest moment in American history, for the Americans.......and you responded with the mentioning of one of the greatest of Russia's moments during the war and questioned why it was mentioned.....well.....it wasn't mentioned because he wasn't talking about the greatest events during the war (which would include things from all countries).

Look him up on the net.....many current heroes are derivative of him.
