Mirror's Edge Thread

I've got the song on my zune too.

Plus, like 4 remixes of the same song.

I don't know why. I really don't know why.

Does anyone think that Mirror's Edge 2 is in danger of not happening? I hear that EA might have to stop "taking chances" because the chances they've taken with IP's lately have not paid off.

Yeah, they're restructuring to become Activision, Jr. But Mirror's Edge might still get a sequel. It's not technically a new IP. Still, I'm not holding my breath.

Oh, wow, I thought it only sold a couple hundred thousand. That's good news. I hope they iron out the kinks of the first game; there's a ton of potential in the concept and acrobatic gameplay.

That's the problem, though. It was "announced" before EA's seemingly tapping out last month or something.

I think EA tried to be different, and they're taking hits in the pocket for it...and I think they're just planning on becoming the "Evil Empire" once again. I mean, as *****y as Activision's image is right now...EA was the Godfather of that image before that.

The sales is a good point in it's favor. I do hope we get to jump into it again.

I hope we get a sequel to the game, got it over the summer for $20. The game did very much feel like a test drive for the gameplay type and I'd be really interested to see the idea expanded on in a sequel.

I hope they go with the second idea. Moving away from guns to better level designs and more fluid motion would be great. Granted, I don't know if it'd sell better.

I haven't played this game yet. I fully intend to at some point in the near future. But I remember seeing these really cool downloadable challenge levels for it and thinking they should just do that in a future game.

I replayed through this again in with Nvidia's 3d glasses, it's pretty neat.
The ending doesn't seem to make logical sense either, Faith has no weapon yet he is aiming his gun at her backing off to get in the chopper, moving several feet back in the air, then attempting to shoot her?

Just like to bumb this corpse of a thread to tell y'all that the Mirrors Edge game for iPhone's/iPad's is free to download on the iTunes store for today only. Get on it people!

(I dont know whether it's any good or not, but free eh?)

DICE's future plans go beyond the Battlefield franchise

It's been awhile since the last non-Battlefield game from DICE. Sure, the Swedish dev studio assisted with Medal of Honor's 2010 reboot (multiplayer) and provided some tech backup for Need for Speed: The Run (DICE's Frostbite 2.0 game engine powered the title), but otherwise it hasn't made a separate, original property of its own since 2008's critically acclaimed Mirror's Edge. That may be about to change.

"We also have an ongoing plan that those products should not only be Battlefield," DICE general manager Karl-Magnus Troedsson told us in an interview last week during GDC 2012, referring to the future of his studio. He punctuated his sentence with a quick, "though I cannot say more than that," unfortunately, but it's good to hear that DICE is moving back to development outside of the Battlefield franchise. It'd be nicer to hear that the studio was steadfast in making a sequel to Mirror's Edge, of course, but we'll take what we can for now.

Mirror's Edge was really interesting and it was a lot of fun to run/jump around. If they just make the sequel more about navigating/puzzle solving and have as little combat as possible it'll be great.

I agree, but based on some other recent comments by a DICE dev I fully expect it to be the opposite. :/

I mean, I guess if they can get the shooting to feel more like BF3 and less like **** it would be ok...

I always liked the feeling of the first one where using a gun was just a last ditch effort. I do hope they refine the fighting a bit because it definitely needs some improvement but for the most part I liked it.

Can't we play through all of Mirrors Edge without firing a weapon? I thought there was an achievement/trophy for doing that?

If the level designs and puzzle solving aspect can be great, I'd be willing to accept the gun shooting aspect. Just as long as that's not the majority of the game.

If it were, then there'd be a major problem.

Yeah there's an achievement for not killing anyone with a gun. I did it on my first playthrough
